ALL AI in games is scripted, and will be for a long, long time.

Whoa, don't elaborate anymore, you might lose some of us.

Should be a nice month-end strategy fest. Dawn of War expansion and Black & White. I just hope I can run it at decent settings. large furry bump-mapped creatures scare my 9700.

So, spend less time on CGI cut scenes, but concentrate on more CGI cut scenes for the storyline? Not sure what else they would use if they weren't going with the in-game engine...Maybe the old westwood live-action method? Yikes.

Relic didn't develop the intro, but still...

I thought the voices were alright. Nothing noticeably bad about them.

Four of the games on the 25-16 list are ports of older games on older systems. Just interesting little point, I thought.
Ikaruga, Ocarina, MGS, and RE1.

By its release it will only have been a year (or a slight bit less). I wouldn't say that's very long at all. A
playable race is a fairly big addition to an RTS.

[EDIT] Orc campaign?!

And the release date is September, (so says the trailer).

I picked this up out of impulse about a week ago. It really is an excellent game. Grabbed it for about $30 CDN. I would have gladly payed the $60 for it back last september when it was released, had I not ignored my enjoyment of the demo, for whatever reason.

$30 CDN is like roughly $20 american, so that's budget price man, go buy it.

I certainly hope somebody makes 1942-2 with it. Drool.

Yeah, almost makes me wish they made Battlefield 2 first, and then followed with 1942.

The orginal game sucked. All people would do is wait for a plane to fly instead of actually trying to help their team win. What a crappy design for a multiplayer game. No thx

Although it was annoying when, for instance you saw three or four guys just sitting around the airfield at wake island, it didn't really affect things that much. Yeah, it appeared as if your team was short handed because of a few morons, but with such high player counts, 32 and over, it was pretty negligable in the grand scheme.

Besides, this time around they claim to have optimized vehicle-to-player ratios, so hopefully that can somehow work its way into helping the issue. I know Vietnam had very few jets on the map, and I rarely seen people camping the airfield, so maybe their solution will work.

Wasn't Richard Garriot working on an MMOG that had something to do with car combat? Is this it? Or am I completely off target here.

If the levels are indeed randomized, then I think it's safe to assume that the level design in the game will suck. It is irrelevant if the randomization occurs only once. Random levels = no planning, no forethought. Just a bunch of random segments thrown together.

I don't think this game is going to require well thought out levels. If it's anything like Diablo, the environments simply serve as a stage for killing lots of enemies, leveling up, collecting items, and allowing for a great deal of exploration.

I doubt something like pacing is going to be a huge factor in this game. It'll probably just be constant action, collecting, and plundering.

es_jail

Being the underdog was awesome. I don't remember when they removed that gametype, think it was beta 7, but it was great while it lasted. es_frantic was cool, that's the tran station level if I remember correctly...I'd kill to see either AS or ES back in CS.

I actually liked playing as the VIP. It made killing people all the more empowering.

IRT # 19, 20

I have tried the demo, or else I wouldn't have commented. Yeah the mouse movement doesn't "feel" that great but it's not that bad. I played on 1.50 and it was fine. Nothing too far off from the Unreal games with the movement.

I didn't really find anything wrong with the game, just nothing exceptional about it. The graphics are sufficient, the combat is like a more focused and slower UT2k4. Hopefully the SP offers a bit more.

Right away the game is VERY buggy. The mouse sensitivity is way off.

Okay. Then change the sensitivity...I'm not going to assume you see that as a bug, no one can be that stupid. Because bitching about the default setting is bad enough.
