"Keith Vaz... was on Wednesday suspended for one month after being found guilty of 'serious breaches' of the parliament's code of conduct and contempt of the House."

This guy is the Joe Lieberman of UK politics, utterly corrupt and for sale to the highest bidder.

Figures the bill would be sponsored either by a Republican or Joe Lieberman. This is the Republican idea of "decency":

My guess is that "Fred Upton" has a serious Hentai habit.

"Absolutely authentic physics" that's completely different to the "Absolutely authentic physics" they claimed the last one had.
CEO Carlo Voelker commented, "We kind of fooled you before, but this time it's really authentic."

It's worth pointing out that this story is a crock. The reporter has copied down the ISPs' phony arguments without questioning them. The telcos want US legislation changed to let them carve up the net.

The full story is here:

They're trying to ban kids from playing 18-rated games. And let's face it, when you've got six underage wives and 35 children, you can't be expected to give each of them much parenting so why not let the State handle it?

and how come these Codemasters games come with the most bone-headed technical issues? I uninstalled their last demo after giving up altogether trying to make it use my second monitor.

Perhaps they should concentrate on getting at least ONE decent product out the door before announcing global multi-platform franchises... just a suggestion.

anything that makes it more like Star Wars and less like Everquest is a smart idea.

set new standards for racing simulations

This is the latest in a long line of games that claim "ultimate sim realism". GTR made the same claim. How do we know they're right?

How do you know you're not spending precious hours of your life twiddling setups and pressing 100 different buttons in a game that's full of detail, but doesn't really simulate the cars correctly?

I only ask because I spoke to a Porsche GT driver at a track day and he said that GTR is not very convincing - it's too unstable and the force feedback is all wrong.

Are these guys relying on the fact that 99.9% of buyers have never tried the real thing and can't call them on it?

If I were Mexican I'd be offended at US film and now game-makers using my country as some kind of lawless fantasy playground. I'd shoot the gringo sumbitches.

I know of at least one Mexican who isn't offended - Robert Rodriguez, the guy who made both movies.

Robert Rodriguez, born 20 June 1968, San Antonio, Texas, USA.

But you still won't grant him citizenship!

Not a player, gave up around level 18 last year, mostly due to the skin-deep nature of the "virtual world".

It is interesting to me that although certain improvements are made, even in a 100% internet, online-only game they can't quite get it to look "current-gen". As a dev I wonder if this is inevitable, or if you can truly structure an online game to be completely updatable - so there would be no need for "Everquest 2" - the original game would keep evolving and staying current.

Given how tough it's been for mmorpg sequels (Ultima, Asheron's Call) to match the success of the originals, it seems continuous development would be the way to go if it could be made to work.
