1.) Woohoo I get the shotgun finally!

3.) DoH!! I dont know how I missed that.

Two more cool things I found:

Gangfights (I remember doing this in SOF2): http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=76de5994404a59126392519757e3ed6c&threadid=181962

And slow motion:

host_timescale "default is 1"
the reduce the game speed enter a value between 1 and 0
example: host_timescale 0.5
To increase the game speed choose a value up to 1]

I am just entering Ravenholm now - A lot of talk about it so I cant wait to get home and play it. 3 Questions:

1.) Should I have the shotgun by now?

2.) Anyone else got any cool console commands like the other guy posted earlier to change the physics? I know in some CS Source servers they set it so once someone died there actions would turn into slow motion.. really cool.

Edit: Found: http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=dbf20a9179bae96effaf6929f9474717&threadid=182322

Good list of all console commands - guess we will just have to play around to see which ones do the cool stuff.

3.) How do you do secret text/quotes/italics on this board? I have tried both HTML and UBB..

Now now, no need for name calling (and your speaking about maturity?) I understood your idea, MY point was that yes you did only take 1 minute to think of something but your ideas werent good - not much better then the saw thing anyways.

Zedaapokjdlkjd - Although I agree with both sides (sometimes wanting to be immersed and sometimes just wanting stupid fun) - I gotta say the two ideas you came up with sounded pretty lame..

I agree about the whole matrix/hl2 similarity. Another similarity is how everyone is out to help you accomplish your task like they all believe you are the "one".

Oh and Blue, you've already explained yourself about the late/early thing, you dont haveto tell us each time it happens

Ah Ok, I thought since it was listed under the Silver PKG, it was done. So now we will have to pay for DOD? I thought it would be available for download for free like in the original..

Is anyone playing Day of Defeat? I haven't heard anything about that..

So Crispy, it took you just over 2 hours to get 12% at 250kb/s?

"Steam has an "offline mode," in which any game that is fully updated can be played even when you're not connected to the Internet.

To use this mode, you must "exit" from Steam, do NOT use the "exit and logout" option."

Ah ok I think I got it figured out. In order to play offline you close the program but stay logged in on your steam account. So even if you disconnect your internet connection to the "Steam people" you are still considered logged in.

So based on a 250kb/s download, how long does it download say a Silver Pkg?

Ahh so the game on the CD is encrypted.. thanks for clearing that up for my crispy.

As for the other thing, how will they validate it if you have set the game to play offline? Without an internet connection? This theory will only work with the online-bought packages ofcourse since they do not need a CD in the drive..

Ok so if my brother comes over, installs HL2 off of the 5 cd's, logs himself into Steam - will we be able to play it right away? Isnt there another "check" that it has to do that takes like 15min or something? Or does it download the whole game again even though its installed off of the 5 cd's? Argh, that shit is confusing.

Also theorhetically, from what I have read can't someone who bought an online package (IE Bronze) and went to a friends house - logged in - downloaded the game - then set it to play in "offline mode" - spread the game around to as many people as he wanted? (The single player portion atleast).

Ok question:

I am thinking about getting HL2 - But first I would like to find out how it runs on my computer. My brother bought the retail version. From what I have read if he comes over and logs in as himself on steam we can play the game on my computer. Here are my questions:

Can I get steam on my computer - start up my own account - and pre-download the game files so that when he comes over and logs in as himself we dont haveto wait for all the files to download?

Also if the whole game is basically downloaded there is no need to install from the cd's he brings correct? Or should he bring them for a cd check?

Lastly, if CS Source runs fine on my computer can I expect HL 2 to run well?

Sorry im just a little confused..

AWESOME game! All they need in the full version:

Ability to make your own replays (place cameras, etc..)

Ability to make your own tracks..

Ability to switch cars in replay mode..

Oh and did anyone notice the spinning radiator fan when your body panels come off?

Oh man oh man..
