Much like RTW the out-of-the-box game was a bit undemanding so I installed a mod, hoping it would do to Medieval what Total Realism did to Rome. Within a few years I was excommunicated and spent the next 130 years fighting off every other motherfucker on the map, even after I'd been pardoned by a dozen different popes. I was playing Spain and the Scots and Poles would regularly boat in raiding parties to have a crack at me. (I checked to see what the mod was - Stainless Steel. But I'm still waiting for Rome Total Realism 7 mind you...)

Looking forward to an expanded UK campaign although the timeframe probably puts it prior to the big Scottish immigration to Ulster so I'll have to choose between playing Scotland (where my people are from) or Ireland (where I increasingly identify with).

I joined AC2 around launch time in Europe and I quite enjoyed it. I quit because it was actually too easy and always meant to go back when they balanced it. Meh. Played AC about a year before that and though it wasn't totally my cup of tea it had so much depth you couldn't help but be engaged. It was a little disconcerting to be told as a new character that I had ultimately gimped myself and would never be able to reach the top levels. But they were right.

A $200 for a life sub to a LOTR game seems like a no-brainer.

EDIT - though it looks like it's a bargain I won't be able to avail myself of as the offer is probably limited to the US. Codemasters are handling the game in Europe. Nuff said.

EDIT2 - nope, me full of shit as usual. Codemasters are offering a lifetime sub for a ton (wun hunnred quid!). Pfft. Grabbing that.

I'm using Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Francesco's mod, Martigen's Monster Mod (those three are collectively known as FranOOOMMM!

I still put in half a dozen hours a week using OOO. When I tire of my vampire I'll probably start another game using the full on FranOOOMMM but with a few more quest mods added to keep it fresh. I never understood the hatred for Oblivion. Morrowind had more to do out of the box but the combat and the NPCs were dire. I still haven't finished MW and I doubt I ever will because I couldn't go back to MW combat.

More widely available? Projected sales numbers for 2007 are 1.25 million HD-DVD players and 6.75 million Blu-ray players. Disc sales are currently 2-1 in favor of Blu-ray. It looks like HD-DVD is going to get stomped.

A lot of those BR players are PS3s. A substantially cheaper HD-DVD drive for the PC could swallow that - say something around $200 like the 360 addon. Or less.

Cowell IS bigger than Springsteen RIGHT NOW. Much much bigger. Springsteen turned himself into a joke years ago and I say this as a former fan. Or a current fan of his former work.

I've no idea how big Springsteen still is in the US but aside from Streets of Philadelphia and Born in the USA how many hits can a random person in the street worldwide over 30 name? Under 30 and I doubt they'd know the two I mentioned.

Cowell has a top show in the US and the UK so ironically Springsteen is probably better known in Iran than Cowell is. Is that what you wanted?
