Why yes I am... with the new, rebuilt drive. I did have it running on 2 drives for a short time while I made one last tape backup. The server was shut down and the new drive was rebuilt at the PERC BIOS level. Relatively painless and only about an hour to rebuild the drive.

Oh. You mean you specified a RAID 5 server and it did what it was supposed to? Gosh, I'm glad I didn't make a fool of myself by acting as though RAID was a subtle con by the French to compromise our data infrastructure.

I hope that someone with EA affiliations reads this particular Zeph post.

They're bastards and all but do they really deserve that?

Project Entropia is free but you pay for items. It's the MMORPG that made the headlines when a virtual island sold for about 20k and then a bit later a Space Station sold for even more. I was in a Slashdot thread with a guy who said he'd "dabbled" in the game and was strictly limiting himself to how much he spent. His limit was 2 grand a year.

I liked Bloodrayne.

Hated Dungeon Siege the game but the movie looks okay.

Seriously, though, I've been told by multiple people (outside of friends and family) that I have a good voice.

So has everyone who auditions for American Idol. And that's why the first few shows are best. Then they spoil it by sticking with the talented ones.

The publishers of Harry Potter were able to close down a Russian parody titled "Tanya Grotter" so I guess Eidos has a case. Bullshit of course because a parody never hurt an original yet, and probably only ever helped. Look at Bored Of The Rings. Published in 1965. Didn't exactly hurt Lord of the Rings.

EDIT: oh and Hordes of the Things which I heard on BBC Radio 4 when I was about 18 or 19. Had to check the wikipedia for that one. Not as direct a parody though.

Lucasfilm didn't ask them to take it down in the first place, did they?

Much as I've found the prequels to be uninspired crap, I can't fault George Lucas for his devotion to his fans. In general Lucasfilms don't Fox projects - look at the high profile SW fan films. There was a Battlefield mod for SW which may have been given the heavy lawyer treatment though, yesno?

About the only real saving grace the game has in my eyes is that it's being made by the same guys who did Far Cry.

That's a pretty big incentive. The blah blah bit is that the aliens are going to end up as irritating as Far Cry's mutants. A Far Cry without mutants would have been a helluva game.

but don't be so sure that it's Israel dragging the US into anything and not the other way around.

I didn't say Israel was dragging shit into anything. Israel is a US shill in the Middle East and always has been. The funny thing is that recently Israel has been acting like an independent state and it's amusing to see US politicians squirming because of it. Well, it'd be funnier if people weren't dying I guess.

And I appreciate that this is a gaming site and generally NOT the place for political debate but that doesn't stop girlies like Warhawk spouting right wing dogma as scripture. So sauce for the goose and all that...

And finally if the site is going to move over to some by-invitation membership to exclude rowdies and hooligans then God bless! Without the user comments to bring people here you have what that you can't get on Digg?

I've been here in one form or another since the start AND I've bought the tee shirts. Fredrickson should get a medal for services to this site because he was a lunatic genius when it came to flamebait. I'm not convinced this latest incarnation is anything to do with him because he seems to lack the diabolical flair for words the old Fred had.

xxBatmanxx is more of a troll than any of the recent banees and yet he continues to spoon out his homespun slack-jawed idiocy on a regular basis. Why? For the love of God, why?

Riley, random.thought and Ninja Captain are all vile trolls but in general they're worth a hundred ex-Batmen for original thinking alone.

Then you have that little punk whose name escapes me with the Greasemonkey script - wrap yourself in bubblewrap Shirley cos life's a bumpy ride. You block dsmart. Not smart. Pitiful. Zeph, sure. But block Zeph you may as well block xxBatmanxx. Block Cheese? Why? He can get your rig to run 25% faster with nothing but BIOS tweaks dammit.

Ahhh, wotever.

cliffski - I watched the Youtube video of Kudos waiting for the character creation screen to stop. But it didn't. Turns out that's the game. So I downloaded the demo. Previously I tried the Democracy demo and it disappointed. But after Kudos I may go back to it and exercise some nostalgia muscles. My hat is off to you if you can make a living at this!

To put it in perspective for 20 bucks I can go buy Space Empires 4, Jagged Alliance 2 or Disciples 2 off Steam. Any of which have the benefit of actually being GAMES and damn fine ones.

Where do you even promote positech? I doubt that a forum post on Blues News once a month is getting you much traffic so there must be somewhere you go to promote these games to a willing audience.

This is probably coming across as harsher than I actually feel and you seem like a decent enough individual but I really think your games suck.

God knows it takes a lot to piss me off and recently the only other game I couldn't get my head around was that POS Sword of the Stars. Previous to that was the demo of Road to Fiddlers Green and a lukewarm response to Galactic Civilizations 2. Those excluded I generally can find something in most games to like. For whatever reason both Kudos and Democracy plain annoyed me. I'm a Nethack player (on my GP2X these days) so it's not like it's the grafix.

aside from
1. getting yourself banned, and
2. making people hate you,

why do you post up here Woody? no one seems to like you and no one cares what you say when you post. attempting to prove Blue wrong about politics on a game site doesn't gain you any friends from Blue or the rest of us. so why do it?

What exactly in his post are you objecting to? He has a mild rant against Blue - which is bad manners but not exactly heinous. Other than that he's pretty much spot on, except for the US/Israeli war on Iran - the US will never allow Israel to be dragged into that. They'll have to go that alone.
