I wouldn't be surprised to see the future generation of consoles to be sized more like other home A/V equipment (i.e. roughly 17 inches wide, 12-14 inches deep) to allow for better cooling and design.

And nobody thought it did. Which is odd. I hear a lot of Americans saying that taking away their guns is wrong because they might need them to defend themselves against criminals. But suggest a few cameras on street corners might discourage criminals, or at worst help convict them after the event, and they plead their rights. I'm almost convinced on the free ownership of guns in a country already awash with them (Wild West ethos and all) but I'm yet to see the bad side of public surveillance cameras.

Seriously, if you're worried that the government will misuse surveillance cameras to track political opponents and agitators (not engaged in terrorism) or to keep tabs on tax cheats and marriage cheats or to profile the populace in general then isn't your problem with your Government not the cameras? I mean guns don't kill people, people do. And cameras don't hurt people, politicians do. Keep the cameras, change the politicians. You might think of starting an opposition party to the Demo-publicans.

Now don't get me wrong, I run side by side with a Ubuntu box (which I have grown to love for the lack of mysterious pauses and general jackassey I get off my XP box) but running games on it is a futile endeavour. Yes you can wrap a lot of modern games in Opengl with Cedega and marvel at grafix we haven't seen for four years but why bother when you know you require Windows if you're going to play games. I wish it wasn't the case and every game got a Linux port. Hell I wish every website worked with Firefox but it's not happening anytime soon.

EDIT: and what paid distro are you using? Red Hat? So you're probably talking about server usage and keep an XP box yourself, in which case you're still under the WGA thumb just like the rest of us.

I'm a bit surprised, given the polish seen in the demos.

All that's really been demonstrated to work so far (with the likes of Robin Williams) is the character editor and the ability to animate the resulting toon. I wouldn't be surprised if the later sim-style and UFO levels were all mocked up.

I think this is going to be a game that'll appeal to people who like the SIMs but don't mind the fact they're now going to be playing with weird aliens instead of dollies.

The proposed RTS and Sim-city game modes are going to have to be simplified and easy so they can be grokked by the mass market - so how's that going to grab anyone's attention here?
