I am surprised WoW has lasted this long.

You remind me of the guy that said "Radio with PICTURES? That'll never catch on..."

Or maybe you just surprise easy.

Hey, they both disc standards have DRM so it's not like HD DVD is a present from heaven. It is still possible that the enhanced DVD system from China could be the eventual winner, for the consumer anyway.

He came over, broke into my house, at which point he was stabbed with a Katana, I went to jail, he took a FFL to Denver.

I can finally put this nasty six months behind me.

I dunno. I usually make fun of Americans for shit like this. The classic shooting/stabbing a guy who turned up on your doorstep defense. Meh. If you honestly believe your (or yours) life was threatened (ie he turned up with a weapon) then fair enough. Good luck and god bless. If he turned up, talked some smack and you stabbed him with a katana and got off with it then I hope karma catches up with you. You're the disease. Your kids shouldn't have to grow up in a world with vigilante assholes.

I bought Space Empires 5 off Steam. (I also have HL 1+2 and any available exapnsions for either plus some mods, Sin Episodes and Defcon.)

To be honest I doubt I'd buy anything else from Steam. Back in the HL2 days I didn't notice any hold up but with SE I have a noticeable delay before playing and it takes a day or two longer to get the patches (and God knows this is critical with SE cos it's still unplayable.)

Everything else hasn't had this impact. Sure WOW is better looking, but doesn't have that danger that we experienced in UO where when you go outside, you would get snuffed by real people.

It hasn't had this impact because it was your first. My first LAN deathmatch was Doom on linked Playstations. I've played better MP games but that particular session had my heart in my mouth. I played far more Quakeworld or Team Fortress but that solitary Doom evening had more of an impact.

Oh and WoW has PvP servers so there is a risk of attack though, yes, what it needs is a PvP anywhere any faction sever to recreate the feeling of the old AC servers where it was done best.

I am so out of touch. Didn't realise this happened until I came here. All a bit pointless of course. When Saddam was in charge he and his family were responsible for tens of thousands of deaths but they kept terrorist cells out of Iraq. Since he was deposed the place has become a breeding ground for suicide bombers and 100s of thousands of people have still died. And he's the one getting hung?

Even the so-called legit sites like GameSpot and IGN, and most of the mags.

Emphasis on the "so-called".

Thing is Sony made mistakes with virtually every other proprietary system they forced down people's throats, with the exception of the Playstation brand which was a big net contributor to their profits. The PS2 is what's keeping them afloat and it'll take years for the PS3 to start paying for itself. Even the slightest slip on which HD dvd format goes mainstream first could actually hurt the PS3 if Blu Ray is suddenly a negative rather than a heavily subsidised positive reason to buy a PS3. Whichever system gets cracked first by pirates is going to win the race. It could even be the extended DVD formats from China. Stranger things have happened.

Housework cuts breast cancer risk.

So that explains why single men and married men do not get breast cancer!

Or "Men" as we used to know them.

And... I've seen them and they were average.

Wasn't too impressed by this years Xmas special.

Anyway there was this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/humber/6213025.stm story linked off the DW story. Thought the name of the Lane where it happened was kind of appropriate in a macabre kind of way.

MS is doing the masses a big favor by going all out to show how stupid DRM is.

"Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out."

I just finished watching "I, Claudius" last night and your comment above put me in mind of the last episode.

Spoilers:

Claudius engineers his succession to Nero because he's sure that Nero's guaranteed excesses as Emperor will finally galvanise the Senate into abolishing the role of Emperor and cause a return to the Republic that Claudius himself desired.
