'Twas not my intention to misguide anyone. I was merely giving my honest first impressions from playing two gametypes via Instant Action (not online).
I played UT an insane amount back in its heyday. When 2K3 was announced, I was pretty jazzed, so much so that I bought it against my better judgment. By that, I mean that I played the demo, thought it felt like Q3, but hoped that the retail version was tweakable enough to make it feel like the UT that I enjoyed immensely. Sadly, this was not the case, and most of my UT friends agreed. All of our 2K3 CDs are collecting dust somewhere...
But w/2K4, I didn't get the same feeling as w/2K3. I can honestly say that I will be picking this game up - DVD version, of course! W/the little bit of time I've spent on the demo, I've even gone so far as to post my impressions on various sites, and I've never posted anything before in my life! (You'll notice that my account is brand-new...) Hopefully, Assault will catch on, since that is my favorite gametype (after DM).
So if you did not enjoy the 2K4 demo, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. But as other posters (and other sites) have pointed out, many who enjoyed UT but not 2K3 are actually surprised to dig 2K4. (Initially, that is...)
