I wish Carmack and Zenimax would just settle this and get on with making great games. This can't be good for the health of either side, it makes both sides look awful, and it's got to be bad for creativity and for business. The only winners here are their attorneys.

TLDR: they need to grow up, settle, then get along, and get back to what they do best.
22.5 mio. dollar is nothing to Zenimax. This will not even in the slightest influence the game developement or publishing process of ongoing and upcoming projects.

22.5 mio. dollar may be a nice sum for someone like John Carmack, but he is already a rich man. He doesnt need it, he can afford to calmly sue his former employer.

I'm sure absolutely no one is surprised. Dean Hall is nothing short of a complete and utter wanker who's 15 mins of fame was well and truly up after the DayZ mod released its first beta.
"wanker" might be a bit harsh, but it seems that he hasnt much talent to actually run a developement studio, producing a complex software product.

Which is nothing to be ashamed of. A lot of very talented game designers cratered their companies, because they thought that running a studio is as easy as developing a new gameplay mechanic.

Yup. The UI is ... well, very clunky. Especially the dialogue system is HORRIBLE, because they simply copied it from the old Ultimas instead of thinking of anything more ... modern? When i have a lot of text in my RPG, i look at PoE, Tyranny or Torment and i look at pleasingly designed user interfaces, where the text is presented in a good font against a well chosen background and navigate between dozens of threads without getting lost.

What Portalarium does is ... i can only repeat it, horrible. Is this final or is it just a placeholder? I hope the latter.

Because it takes place in the same world basically, and has very similar systems obviously.
No. And no. PST was based in setting and gameplay rules on "AD&D Planescape" and the 2nd Edition. Torment is based on the rules and setting of "Numenera", a tapletop RPG from 2013.

Torment is just a spritual successor, because it relies on mainly on story and dialogue descisions, not so much on combat.

FFXIII-2 is my 2nd fav FF game of all time. Lits of people liked FFXIII-3, but I didn't, it has the "Majora's Mark" mechanic where the world is ending in X days, so everything you do feels rushed, I hate that shit in RPGs, I never finished Majora's Mask or FFXIII-3.

FFXIII-2 though is spectacular. Really gets back to the roots of what makes a FF game amazing after the abysmal FFXIII. Also the single best soundtrack in any videogame EVER.

FFXV is good too btw, I've replayed it twice. Can't wait for the new story DLC content. It's far from a perfect game, and many parts seem undercooked, but it's still a very fulfilling ride.
Thnx for the info!

Have you played XIII-2 and XIII-3? If yes, have the devs learned anything from the abysmal developement hell of XIII? Are those sequels better?

Ouch...this review actually goes a little deeper into detail on the game. And damn...it actually calls the game RPGLite....Double damn.
This is a review from someone, whon thinks that CRPGs should have several dozen classes and class combination, TONS of loot and A LOT combat. Well, a good CRPG lets you play a role. Which can be achieved with aformentioned gameplay mechanics or with the focus on dialogue and story, like it is realised in Torment. And Torments roleplay is VERY deep.

RPGlite ... ha!

And in the privacy of OUR MP game, we cheat or do not cheat, as we please.

This sounds more like a nuke it from orbit strategy, targeting anything that even hints at infringement, regardless of actual content, and then issuing take downs for sites that don't even exist yet, but could exist in the future, and might have infringing material on it. That's nuts, and Google is okay with it, they just don't want more rules. I shudder to think what more would look like.
Do you know what this is?

Its probably fraud. Probable DMCA takedown fraud by the service contractor the rights holder use to enforce their copyright:

https://torrentfreak.com/pirate-site-with-no-traffic-attracts-49m-mainly-bogus-dmca-notices-170219/

"So in summary, APDIF makes up its own URLs, MP3Toys randomly generates a page of music that has nothing to do with the URL input, APDIF logs it as an infringement of its clients’ rights, and sends a complaint to Google."

Like the click fraud some service contractors are doing in the realm of online advertising, this seems to me like "DMCA notice fraud" to scam the copyright holders.

A DMCA claim should be a sharp scalpel, used for a very specific, well reasoned purpose. Its misuse should result in a hefty fine. Because you can cause real damage, if you misuse it, be it on purpose or accidently.

A DMCA notice should NOT be a blunt mace, which any shmuck can wiggle around without ever thinking one second about it.

Perplexing to see someone from Digital Devolver of all places get caught up in political bullshit fever.
Why? DD was started to make things differently in the biziness and they DO things differently. Especially their marketing is doing things VERY differently. Lightyears away from the boring hyperbole of the majors, DD always made funny, witty and ... well, honest marketing campaigns for their games. No nonsense with optimized screenshots, faked gameplay trailers and such things.

Gold sellers and gold farmers will have a field day
I don't know, ever since the end of the previous expansion you've been able to redeem gold for tokens. Some people even saved up over a dozen tokens (due to gold being very easy to get until this last expansion).

This is more of.. keeping the money flowing within their own games. Now you can play WoW, or are kept more "interested" in playing WoW, to earn more gold, to get a token to redeem for more WoW time, to play and make more gold, to get a token to redeem for "free" (lol) Overwatch boxes.
Still, Gold sellers and farmers will have a field day

Blizzard made them nearly extinct by simply increasing the amount of gold you can "earn" in the game with questing, looting and crafting. Gold ceased to be a problem entirely!!

But since introduction of the very expensive) tokens, ingame gold is once again a rare commodity. And this move only worsens the situation.

And i thought at Blizzard they have learned their lesson ... but hey, people leave. And take their knowledge and experience with them.
