News Comments > Iron Maiden Sues Over Ion Maiden Infringement

Iron maiden is a phrase in common usage. In fact I'd wager more people know of it as a torture device than the name of a band...that stopped making music a couple of decades ago. Definite nuisance suit.
There is the case of a comic which was named "Iron and The Maiden". The creators were sued, their lawyers defended with the argument, that no one owns the name of an ancient torture device ... and they lost.

Sure, Ion Maiden is NOT Iron Maiden and every art asset is original work, without any inspiration from the bands logo or cover art ... but the argument, that the name for an ancient torture device is like prior art, it didnt work on the judge of this former case.

Why do so many metal bands turn out to be utter tools?
Mostly because they dont care, what their legal team is doing in their names. Sometimes because they get used to their luxurious lifestyle and develop an unhealthy paranoia against anything, which might (!) threaten this lifestyle. In other words, they get old, greedy and mean.

Sure, there are exceptions. I cant see someone like Dave Grohl ever being such a tool. And The Grateful Dead are making a habit of suing their former labels, still touring around the world, stickin it "to the man". But most get weird, very weird ...

Sweet. It'll be interesting to see if he's still got it. Anyone know if this works with every known version of DOOM, or is it specific versions only?
You need an official doom.wad (Doom 1, not Doom 2), because Sigil is Episode 5, after Thy Flesh Consumed.

What thing? Threatening your employees that breaching NDAs does have consequences after they all signed NDAs or work contracts containg NDA parts? That is weakness.

#NieMehrCDU
There is a german expression: "Das Kind mit dem Bade ausschütten".

That's was leaving the EU is, a stupid, immature, rage induced, totally emotional descision, ignoring all the good things about the EU because of this stupid copyright clusterfuck. Which, by the way, can be undone, if you vote for the right political parties instead of behaving like a moron.

And #NieMehrCDU is my program since the nineties.

"open forum" is a fantasy. Two options it is.
There is a third option, which somehow always is ignored:

Publish your opinion on your OWN (!) site.

But it is not about freedom of speech with Jones. It's only about money and selling crap to stupid people.

"Steam killing PC gaming" is THE most ridiculous nonsense i have heard in this context.

Valve was solely responsible for the indie boom, providing a 70% percent cut of all revenue to a developer where there was NONE before, only milestone payments and sometimes royalties for the big studios.

Review bombing is a very effectice way to express your discontent. There is a reason why corporate shills are against this form of protest, my dear corporate shill.

Good. Go the fuck out of business. Make room for more CDPRs.
Letting go of 4% of employees is not "going out of biziness". Its nothing more than optimising spending and cash flow for the sake of management boni. EA does well enough that we may endure its existence a few years longer.

Exclusives have been around forever, and you all act like the Epic store somehow is doing something new.
It certainly has nothing to do with Sweeney critizing closed plattforms, walled gardens and forced exclusives over the years. He crapped all over the Apple Store. Microsofts UWP, VR manufacturers and their software exclusives ... but now, when he does it, it's all good and rainbows and unicorns.

But dont speak for everyone ...

This is only a reaction to the frantic and delusional hype which made VR THE NEXT BIG THING. No, VR is not the next big thing. It's only a very useful and capable tool for specific purposes and NOT the upcoming entertainment juggernaut it was supposed to be, according to a lot of marketeers and fan boys, who believed in this hype.

Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle for Dune again on a modern system.
Dune 2000 works pretty good on modern systems. A problem is only the old 16bit setup on the CD, which does not like anything newer than Windows XP But you can use OpenRA or the GruntMods Edition of Dune2000.

Emperor on the other hand ... this requires some heavy patching.
