I dunno Blue. Sounds like a nice place to retire.

Indeed. Except you can buy a car for our annual property taxes, and it's not like our house is Graceland.

You are actually correct, I see the high here yesterday was "only" 86.

chicken is a difficult thing to grill perfectly. how long did you leave them on the warming rack for? i imagine a long time.

I didn't time it, but it was until they got right around the proper 165 degrees. Probably double the time they'd take on the grill... I'm going to say 20 minutes or so?

I lost my mother on Monday night, two weeks after she had major heart surgery. She had a stroke a few hours after the surgery, during the night and it just got worse every day after that. She got pneumonia and then her kidneys failed. When they wanted to do yet another major surgery, they said she most likely wouldn't survive and it was at that point that I had to make the difficult decision to let her go in peace instead of in horrible pain. I haven't really slept since. Half an hour here, 20 mins there. When I saw TB had passed, my heart was in my throat and it was really hard not to lose it. I was at the hospital almost every day and I had started to go back through TB's backlog that I hadn't watched, just to try to get my mind off things, even if it was only for a few mins.

It just isn't fair. None of it. Sometimes, in my sleep deprived mind, I start to think I died and now I'm in Hell thinking I'm still alive. Would explain a lot.

Words don't suffice, but I'm sorry for your loss, Rigs. As someone who's lost both parents I can assure you the pain eases with time. But I'm sure that's small comfort right now.

Great freakin' movie, like Citizen Kane you can watch it over and over and see new little parts.

That's what I thought when I read the article too. Funny how they don't show Gordo's actual exploits in the film... it is an amazing story.

May 18th is the release date.

May 22nd is the release date. Preorder customers get four days of early access. I'll add a note to clarify.

What Subaru do you have? Forester here... and Subaru didn't gave me a vacuum but replaced the motor short block for free in the following months after warranty was over. I so wanted a Subaru for a long time, hard to beat their AWD ability and it's great with the winter we have. No regrets! So in the end I was happy with the service and since then my girlfriend recently bought a used 2018 Crosstrek, yep only 6 months old and she likes it a lot. 2018 is the new revised model with new platform. I was also impressed.

I like to watch YouTube videos where Subaru wins over competition in mud, snow, slippery slope, name it! But I guess looking for competition beating Subs also exist.

We got a 2017 Impreza for MrsBlue's job in the snow country that she ended up quitting. This is the first model with the new platform you mention, and so far it seems like a wonderful car.

Trans fats: WHO calls for elimination in foods by 2023.

This is going to be a challenge, since most people's trans fat intake is from chicken/beef/dairy/eggs etc

Not really. A majority of most people's trans fat intake is from partially hydrogenated vegetable oil.

And the WHO is calling for a ban on artificial trans fats anyway.

Creston you make many valid points. I am not proud of being someone who's grown to expect and overlook stuff like that, but as I watch and munch my popcorn, most of those errors don't bother me that much.

As for Peter Dinklage, I looked up his character from the comics, and he doesn't particularly resemble him, but I love his inclusion because I've never seen an actual person who looked so much like he was drawn by Jack Kirby.

I'm not sure how a thirty year old plot can be considered a spoiler but okay. Damn kids. Get off my lawn.

I'm a comics fan, but I was no longer reading them by the time this story came. That said, my fandom is on of the reasons I really liked this film, especially (SST): That this is, as described, a hero's journey for Thanos. I'm not one of those who roots for the bad guy in general, but I always loved Thanos. I was a fan of the whole Jim Starlin Captain Marvel storyline with the cosmic cube, and am excited that Marvel is coming, even if it's a continuity different from what I grew up with.

Random thoughts:

I did not know going in that this was the first of two-parts. That really changes the ending from shocking to more of what I'd call a cliff-hanger, where you know they're getting out of it, but it's a question of how. It does seem that Heimdall, Loki, and Gamora are more dead (deader?) than the other dead, so it will be interesting to see if any or all of those stick.

What was with the odd tech? Tony Stark's flip-phone seemed oddly out of date... when is this set? And then there's Fury's Captain Marvel pager... that thing was positively steampunk.

Indeed. My apologies for causing confusion.

Saw a video of Joe Rogan talking about Quake today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_mo-aV60xA

Apparently he was pretty big into it back in the 90's, knew about Thresh and was talking about a T1 line he had installed in his home because of how addicted he was. He proceeds to start planning on turning his secondary studio room into a LAN party area. Completely out of left field lol.

Joe got himself invited to the Quake III Arena launch party, which was because of how big a fan he was. My recollection is a funny humble brag of sorts... I didn't really watch TV through most of the DOOM and QUAKE years, and Jason (loonyboi) introduced me to Joe at the party because Joe was really excited to meet me, but I had no idea who he was at the time, which was obviously quite backwards.

noice

I sat for a long time trying to find how to set the clock on my 2017 Impreza... turns out there's apparently no menu setting for this, it just sets the clock automatically when you connect your smartphone. I know it's unlikely that someone wouldn't have one, but what if you didn't? Weird.
