What the hell? Did you get an explanation?

This was explained in the link I found when I was trying to figure out how much those blood vials hold. It's called a vasovagal response, and it's the most common form of fainting. Having one suggests you are prone to them, so it should be kept in mind, though they are more common in younger people, so you may grow out of them too.

That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Because that's the way Blue rolls. He lets backhanded passive aggressive insults fly left and right from folks like nin and Creston. But if someone just comes out and uses a single word like "asshole" or "dick" as an insult, it gets removed.

So you know the rules. Should I take the number of deleted posts on your account as the results of some sort of IQ test?

Now there's a passive/aggressive insult for you.

That's just the way I roll.

I value my posture and comfort so in the end it was money well spent.

I bought mine because I was suffering more and more frequent backaches, and as you say, I value my posture and comfort. I didn't have any reason to expect it to last this long, but before I got it I would buy a new $100-$150 chair every year or so, and at this point the Aeron has cost me less than $60 per year counting the replacement armrests (but the chair was actually more at the time), and my amortized cost is still dropping, so over time it's gone from seeming overpriced to being a bargain.

Well it's only not needed if SLI goes unsupported.

Completely puzzled by this comment.

It's more "Guy Fawkes Night" or just "Guy Fawkes" or even "Bonfire Night". Definitely not "Day" though :)

Looks like Guy Fawkes Night is preferred, so I changed it. But according to Wikipedia, Calling it Guy Fawkes Day is definitely not "definitely" wrong.

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Firework Night, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November, primarily in Great Britain.

So Gunnar was Bark Marley? Did he howl "No woman, no bark?" Is there a pic out there this costume is based on, b/c at first I thought he was one of Santa's elves.

Found a shot online of another dog wearing it that shows the colors better and the writing on the back... I'll still try to get a better picture of the Gunnar-mon, but it is tough to get him to sit still.

The umpires have given Mets pitchers larger strike zones. Reference: Grantland article. It's in the third section.

Interestingly, that part of article is not about bad calls, it's about the influence of the catcher on balls and strikes, as they credit/blame each team's catcher for the discrepancies. However, it does show in numbers just how many bad calls they've been making, and I think it's time baseball just started calling pitches with technology.

Speaking of Fox, I was amazed at the delay when their broadcast truck went down, as if it somehow diminished the game to lose Joe Buck's commentary (though I do like Harold Reynolds). I really think they believe their broadcasters are somehow a draw beyond the game itself.

Joe Buck is terrible.

I don't know anyone who likes him. Why is he always on my TV?

Oh damn... now we can't be friends.

Haha, I don't really watch many national baseball broadcasts, so it's altogether possible I'd hate him in the long run (Hell, I'm a Giants fan who has grown to dislike Phil Simms as a football broadcaster), but in that group he comes off as the voice of reason.

Actually, I am most surprised I can stand him at all just because of that squeaky voice. Either way, as a trio their team is just dreadful.

No Mets comments from Blue? Guess the pressure is mounting and he's feeling superstitious about jinxing them by talking about it?

The jinx theory is a fascinating insight. I don't want to derail them when they are on a roll, right?

Actually I'm aware that most are not that interested in the amount I ramble about sports as it is, so I was refraining from commenting on the daily goings on.

But I guess it seems like I'm shirking a ball busting or something. So if my thoughts on this really are of interest, here they are: the Royals look great so far, and the Mets don't. And no, I am not happy that my team is down 2-0 in the series... apologies to anyone who lost money betting I would be. It's not over, but it's obviously an uphill climb, and tonight is a must-win.

Also, the home plate umpiring has been atrocious for both teams, as ball and strike calls are awful... if Fox used the strike tracker like TBS does it would look like a comedy.

They told me I had to come after two years, but I'll admit I haven't done so strictly because having to drink that poison is still one of the more vile memories I have of my entire lifetime.

From my experience, their two-year recommendation is based on the chances of catching something in time based on your prior result, so that's not something I'd want to mess with.

Apparently you can take that stuff in pill form now, so I may check into that.

Whatever makes it work, I do hope you will go back.

And that is exactly how it works in practice.

Very cool. Probably dumps the bigger birds like crows and jays too, eh?

Jays are fine, and we get big grackles who can work the feeder too as long as they go one at a time, especially if they cooperate by letting smaller birds use the opposite side of the perch so it balances better. But yes, crows are just too heavy to work the system, which is probably good, because I'm sure a small murder of crows could empty the feeder in a couple of hours.

Yeah, no bears in this area... I remember my dad having a couple of bear incidents with his feeders in the country, though. Definitely a complication where that happens.

As for squirrel-proofing, I will again recommend Droll Yankees. I have a Droll Yankee Dipper, and it remains 100% unbreached. In fact, after years of futility the squirrels don't even try anymore, they just scavenge for fallen seed on the ground.
