"Bits of Quake code in HL2? Gameplay before graphics, I never noticed

Probably some bsp handling shenanigans."

There was gameplay in HL2? I never noticed - thought it was a moving picture book.

Both those soldiers look dodgy, and the background behind them. I don't think they're casting any shadows, either.

Hrm.... photoshopped?

you heard... what does that mean? a chanced upon conversation between passing trains?

I've 'heard' good things about the gothic series - anyone know when they're releasing anything for the xbox?

I'd like them to develop their titles for the mac, too. That would be nice.

re: AntiElvis - what was wrong with the previous titles? Posting a caustic comment is fine, as long as you give some examples. Otherwise you're just a troll.

I'm so glad you put Riddick up there with the "big boys" - that was truly an excellent game! You made my day!

No, he's probably just referring to a common perception that, to maximise profit you have to 'dumb down' a complex title by allowing it to be operated from consoles, so new titles in a 'franchise' (hate that money word) are generally worse than the originals.

Or something like that.

half a gig download for a mere 60 minutes of play? I'm thinking of two words... the second one is "off".

I'd like to see more games for the mac..... I'm sure the other 5 mac gamers would agree!

Viva OpenGL, I guess.

I think the point is more that the publisher wants to make money from boxed versions of the game, they probably get a much reduced/nothing amount from sales via steam.

You're neglecting deaf people. That's why movies have subtitles, and action rpg's have text descriptions.

That said, I do like the idea of trying to keep the game more fluid, but I don't really care, as in the end I listen to them, then hit a response key and continue. So there's no real difference.

Of course, what makes a game, particularly an RPG, is its story. So I think your title is just a troll attempt.

I'm glad that I can fight terrorism with a rocket launcher. That way, all my training in quake 2 rocket arena has not gone to waste! See mum, it wasn't just a waste of time!

While I only played a little of Enclave, I thought that Riddick was probably _the_ best movie-tie-in game that I've ever played. It's simply fantastic. I really like the fact that they put out a mature minded game (complete with language to match the typical gaming violence) with so much polish it hurts my eyes from its "shine".

Man, I'm a nerd.

Now, if only they were looking for a webapp developer

"but so has crime (like rape and murder)."

I'm glad they explained what crime is.... how about rape, murder, arson and rape?

you said rape twice?

I like rape!

(irreverent movie quote)

Everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess.

I personally love the slower pace as it allows you to get more involved in the story. If I want mindless killing without a plot, I'll play Doom3.

"Patrick: It wasn't part of the original development plan and was developed too late in the cycle to be included with the game."

what kind of FUCKING MORON doesn't plan for this integral element in a predominantly online franchise? I'm sorry, but fire whoever thought that was a good idea.

/end rant

what if you've played the same game for many years (UT/CS/DoD/Q3/BF1942) and it's NOT routine? What does that make it then? Bloody great, that's what.

Vivendi's shareholders will tear them apart...

I thought that Valve owned HL2 IP, and VU was only a distributor? I'm sure Valve has the mojo to dictate exactly when HL2 will be released....

"Story 55% (the plot could have been devised by a 12-year-old)"

Wait, they hired a PROFESSIONAL SCIENCE FICTION WRITER, known as THE MAN WITH NO NAME. He was probably the bright spark who filled the game with endless, pointless journal entries and logs.
