If Bethsoft had made any effort to hire any of the ex-Blackisle design/development team they would have gained at least some credibility in my mind.
Bonus: using the Van Buren design docs
That said I am still looking forward to playing this game since I did enjoy Oblivion and Morrowind.
I just go in without the expectation that this is a spiritual successor to the Fallouts.

I recommend this for any Fallout 2 fan.
Great excuse to dust off that old CD and install it.
I installed and started playing the 1.0 restoration patch when it came out and it was well worth it.
There were a couple bad bugs in the new locations so I'll be trying 1.1.
I'll have to remember to try the new graphics options as well.

Wow, this hits like a dagger through my heart.

Damn, these guys are/were practically the only guys left who made an attempt at quality RPGs.

I wonder how this will affect the Mass Effect franchise.
At least the first installment will be unscathed by the horror that is EA.

This date sticks with me as well, maybe has to do with many relatives that fought in 'double-u double-u two, the big one'.

What a reprehensible, remorseless white trash hag that scammer was.
Yikes.
Much respect goes to Judge Judy for ripping her a new one!

Roger that.
I don't see any way that Bethesda can pull off keeping to the true spirit of the game.
It really makes me wonder why they went to the expense of aquiring the FO license unless they thought they could turn it into a profit machine like the ES series.

While I don't hate fantasy CRPGs, I am getting rather bored with them.
I don't hold out high hopes for an Alien based RPG, but at least it won't involve magic spells and orcs.
<rant>
Why the hell can't someone make a post-apoc CRPG?
Haven't had one in almost 10 years (please don't mention the Fall).
Sucks that FO3 didn't get made by Black Isle...looked like that would have been fairly good with turn based action and inventive storyline.
Sucks that Troika went out of business because they had an original post-apoc CRPG in the works.
Doesn't one of the old Fallout veterans own the Wasteland IP?
How about the Gamma World PNP game, why doesn't someone develop that into a CRPG (yes I know it had mutant bunnies)?
Help us Bethesda, you're our only hope...

Yes, nothing is better for business than the 'customer is always wrong' creedo.
A friend of mine *cough*cough* was naive enough to purchase BC3k many years ago and was so flabbergasted at the manual, controls, etc. that he tried getting support via the 3000ad forums.
It was, suffice to say, a not so helpful experience (though you got feedback VERY quickly).
I wish I...er...he would have kept some of the snarky responses.

I believe it was X (the Unknown), then its expansion X:BTF though there may have also been a non-related flight sim simply known as X.

Hey, WTF?
No DS sitings yet even with the multiple invocations of his name?
I for one will be tempted to rent this new title if it ever gets past the 360 certification folks...yes I am a masochist.

Wow...holographic mousepad?
Sounds sweet.
I got a poster and a Shadow watch.

Would have rather had the game.
B5, if anything, would make a great space sim, as a single or multiplayer game.
Not sure about an MMOG....

Since I can in no way afford a super-killer rig to play this game on I am (gulp) thinking of purchasing an Xbox360 for the purpose (and to play Oblivion, Quake IV, etc.).
Has Egosoft confirmed that it's going to be released for the 360 and not the original Xbox?
I would assume it would be for the 360 but they have been strangely tight lipped about confirming this.

BTW, if you're looking for a twitchy 'fight, fight, fight' game this ain't the one.
I did end up getting bored with X2 but this was after around 300 hours of play.
My main gripes were that most of X2's ship models were horendous and that it had major framerate issues when you had big battles or nebulae in a particular system.
X3 looks to have solved the first problem, at least.

Never really liked that one, when I first saw it I thought it was someone doing a pale imitation of the classic spaghetti western.
Saw a weird spaghetti western the other day with James Coburn in it..about Civil War spies or some such thing...

BIG Zorn fan after I learned about him through being a Mr. Bungle fan.
Never heard his movie stuff, I'll give it a listen.

They are simplifying the UI on X3, FYI.
They could simplify management for trader ships and factories, and managing fleets, etc. just as long as they don't DUMB IT DOWN.
Redesign the ships and combat model and this one will be a big winner with me.

The demo (other than awful song) seemed pretty damn good.
The vehicles and environments (if not the character models) looked great, even if the gameplay seemed to resemble Fallout: Tactics more than Fallouts 1 & 2.
Might be a buy if the bugs are worked out and they figure out publishing for the U.S.

No kidding.
Talk about an expensive computer.
I have generally had great luck with Macs but had I gone through this I would have blown my cool big time with the customer service reps.
All that down time is just ridiculous.

I wonder who the ex-fallouters are that are consulting with them on FO3.
If Troika's woes continue, Bethsoft would do good by hiring those guys.
