News Comments > On Origin Data-Mining
15. Re: On Origin Data-Mining Aug 23, 2011, 23:39 meezookeewee
Honestly, are people having a difficult time reading? It says in bold, "IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATE DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE SOFTWARE." If you don't agree with it, don't use it! Considering that most people don't read the EULA's before hitting the I Agree button, I don't think they should have the right to bitch about it. I can pretty much guarantee that even with this clause out in the open, people are still going to use the software.

It's been pretty much assumed that's why they took the franchise over to begin with.

Duke Nukem needs a reboot. Duke Nukem Forever was a failure on so many levels, it's not even funny.

I would really love to have a third Crusader game. Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret were some of the funnest games I've ever played. I nabbed No Remorse from GOG, so I still play that one. Cheesy live-action videos are still awesome. If memory serves me correctly, there WERE plans for a third game in the series, but for some reason it didn't get made.

I'm a proud non-purchaser (non-consumer too for those obnoxious few of you who assume that means I must be pirating their stuff) of all Ubi products since their first mention of this abuse of their customer base began.

I wonder how many others like me are out there and whether this DRM really is helping Ubi in the long run.

Trust me, dude. You're not alone. The moment they mentioned the always-on DRM, I basically said, "Fuck you, Ubisoft." I have not bought a single thing from them since. The games I have from them, including the original Assassin's Creed, I'm keeping because they were released prior to this horseshit DRM. Why people tolerate this crap is beyond me.

Well, that settles it. I will never buy a game from UbiSoft again. Even if they do drop that ridiculous DRM, the fact that they blatantly lied to everyone about the game's DRM? I agree with nin, don't waste your money.

5. Re: Driver: San Francisco DRM Relaxed Aug 18, 2011, 12:10 meezookeewee
This is better, but Ubisoft seems to be flip-flopping on this issue. Some of their new games will require you to be on-line at ALL times, and others, you only need to sign in. I would rather Ubisoft do with their games what Blizzard did for StarCraft II, Login once every 30 days. I don't think that would be unreasonable. Of course, the best solution is to not have that kind of DRM at all, but UbiSoft won't do that.

News Comments > Duke3D a Good Old Game
42. Re: Duke3D, Good Old Game Feb 27, 2009, 00:16 meezookeewee
Awesome. It's been forever since I've played Blake Stone. Awesome game. Rise of the Triad was one of my ABSOLUTE favorite games back in the day. I've been a member of GOG for a while now, and I have to say they have done an impressive job so far. It's going to be a while, but I hope they get access to Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret. Those two games were awesome.

2. Re: JT's Utah Bill Passes Feb 24, 2009, 22:38 meezookeewee
There's a GAPING loophole here that old Jacky boy has seemed to have ignored. The parents. So what if you criminalize the sale of violent games to minors? They'll get their parents to buy the game for them. This bill has been moot the moment it was conceived. What a loon.

I give it two weeks before it's struck down as unconstitutional.

Hell, I wouldn't give it one week.

7. Re: Jack T's Days in Court Feb 23, 2009, 22:20 meezookeewee
You know, as someone who actually lives in Utah, I feel that anyone who even THINKS about taking Jacky seriously is a total and absolute disgrace. The fact that the stupid son-of-a-bitch actually followed through on his threat to appeal his disbarment to the Supreme Court just shows how RETARDED this guy is. His methods are what got him into this shit in the first place, and he's still going like the fucking energizer bunny. He's too stupid to know when to quit.

Meh. I stopped playing Crysis: Warhead a while ago. It was fun for a while, but I prefer the original game. So, I took Warhead off my computer.

Didn't Utah spearhead that DVD player that automatically censors movies put into it?

It wasn't the state, it was the company ClearPlay. As far as I know, any and all companies that have offered "cleaner" versions of Hollywood blockbusters are out of business in this state. Mostly, because they never asked permission to edit those films. That's what killed these companies.

I live here in Utah, but this fucking moron isn't going to get much done here, despite it being a conservative state. Even here in Utah, any bill that legislates video games ends up getting tossed out.

News Comments > Tomb Raider: Underworld Underperforms
14. Re: Tomb Raider: Underworld Underperforms Jan 9, 2009, 12:05 meezookeewee
It's not "very, very" good. It's *way* too short, combat is as bad as ever, there were some *bad* camera issues, and I really don't care for fighting demon undead. It was somewhat of a letdown from TRL.

Not a bad game, but I've seen better games sell far less than Underworld has...

And that's 1.5 out of all platforms.

That's my problem with TR: Underworld as well. It's a lot of fun, but technical issues are just overwhelming. I think it's an awesome game, but I do agree that the clunky combat is pathetic. The camera's ALWAYS been the biggest problem with Tomb Raider. I got the game for the PC, and when it's working properly, it's amazing, aside from the combat, of course. But performance and camera issues mar the experience.

17. Re: JT and the Supreme Court Jan 4, 2009, 18:04 meezookeewee
Don't feed the troll guys, everyone here knows that Jack Thompson's case will NEVER be heard by the Supreme Court. And even if it was, there is absolutely NO chance in hell that Thompson will be reinstated. His record speaks for itself. His complete lack of self-control has made certain of that. NOBODY is going to take him seriously. No one has, and no one ever will.

Quantum of Solace was pretty good. Daniel Craig is awesome as always. That being said, it was still not as good as Casino Royale. For a Bond film, you have to have a villain that's memorable and Quantum didn't have one. Dominic Greene was simply forgettable. Casino Royale's Le Chiffre was far more menacing. There are a number of scenes that pay homage to earlier Bond films such as Goldfinger. You'll know them when you see them. I can certainly see the direction they might be going with the next two Bond films.

The fact that he's been disbarred in Florida is going to follow him EVERYWHERE. It's on his permanent record. Do you honestly think that any state is going to employ him after being disbarred? I seriously doubt it.

News Comments > NVIDIA Far Cry 2 Beta Drivers
107. Re: I'm absolutely LOVING Far Cry 2. Oct 26, 2008, 01:30 meezookeewee
Just having tons of fun driving around, assassinating people, blowing shit up and generally just exploring. Found 53 diamond cases so far.

Setting fire to the savannah with a flamethrower and watching that fire just engulf a guardpost is awesome.

The only downside is the ridiculous respawn rate. It would be better if the protagonist is forced to go to sleep after a certain period of time and that everything respawns while he sleeps.

Right now you'll fight your way through a guardpost, takes ten minutes, drive up the road, kill your target, drive back, and have to kill the same guardpost again. That gets a bit boring after awhile. And in the end, the mission structure is fairly generic. Drive here, kill all the guys, kill special guy or blow up special thing, drive somewhere else.

But the firefights are great fun, I think the AI is pretty good in most areas, excellent in others (though weak when it comes to driving, they always just drive straight at your mounted machinegun...) and it's just fun to drive around and gawk at all the sights.

Great game. And the technology is fucking awesome. No hitches, no stuttering. No load screen ever. Smooth, seamless massive world. I wish Deus Ex 3 would come with such a world on this engine.

I agree. Awesome game. I haven't been able to stop playing it. Even on a machine like mine, it runs pretty damn good on medium settings, and still looks pretty good. I don't have the machine to run it properly, but the game scales pretty damn well. There's a lot of driving involved, but considering how big the game world is, it doesn't really bother me a bit.
