Bah, just use a PS4 controller over standard Bluetooth and install Inputmapper to tricks games into thinking it's a 360 controller. Even doubles as a mouse pad for emergencies.
Yeah, I've been pretty happy with that.

It's amazing for games that support analog movement because you can go from creeping along very slowly to a full run by varying the pressure that you put on the stick just like when you use an xbox360 controller. That variable movement speed works great in games like BF3/4 and any ARMA games where sneaking around is beneficial. For games that don't support analog movement, you just set the stick to WASD or whatever and it can be changed on the fly.

Dumb rumor. Why would they skip 800 series? Won't happen. It's gonna be 20nm too, I don't care what your grandmother heard. >:O
Supposedly they want to just align the model numbers with the mobile variants (980M) to avoid marketplace confusion.
Which paradoxically creates more confusion between a 980m which is a LOT SLOWER than a desktop 980. A lot of people I know get surprised when I tell them. Same thing that hapenned back then when the core 2 duos were released in the 7000 range in the mobile space instead of the desktop 6000 range and a lot of people argued the mobile was faster even tho it had less cache, less mhz, were exactly the same achitecture and couldn't use as much power.
I swear the number of times I had to shake my heads at the stupid...
