From the No iPods... story.

"For now, let's ignore the fact that lots of young people probably survive just fine without MP3 players or text messaging. The more pertinent question is would it really be so hard to live in a world without Paris Hilton, reality TV, and bad Robert De Niro movies?"

Has De Niro really become that much of a joke these last 10/15 years?
For shame....
He should have followed the example set by the greatest actor of his generation and run away to live in seclusion only to die morbidly obese.

The only thing I'd add to Ray's thoughts is...

*What exactly am I supposed to be doing? It's a bit unclear I think.

Couple things I didn't like- respawning enemies (GOT to get rid of that), and those bats flying around remind me of those giant mosquitos in Daikatana (very annoying).
Engine looks ok.
They have a lot of things to work on.
Nice menu screens though.

Silent Sorrow is indeed correct.

If you remember, it was THE ENGLISH that ran away after the French flung livestock at them during the encounter at the French castle of Guy de Loimbard.

I KNEW I hated the English for some reason.
Livestock fearing limey bastards...

Anybody else find it ironic that this story was reported by Cox News Service?
Eh... probably not.
I need to get out more.

"Project: Snowblind will be available at top retailers on February 23rd 2004 across North America for PS2, Xbox & PC."

It's crazy how time flies.
This thing has been out for almost 10 months now and I never even noticed.

Too many good single player games out right now.
I'll bet Tribes online gaming will pick up in a month or so.

"An internet connection is considered standard equipment. If you're behind the times you lose. It's always been this way in the industry. Go back 10 years and see people complain that they can't play The 7th Guest without a CD drive and how unfair it is..."

Excellent post.

And for the 500th time, yes, you need an internet connection during installation to activate your game.
It's been common knowledge for quite some time now and debated and argued to death.
Get over your shock and report immediately to acceptance and or refusal to buy.

Blue, be honest.
Do you just have a standard IE is vulnerable to attacks sentence that you just vary ever so slightly for your daily Tech Bits headlines?
I would.
It would save 5 seconds or so every single day.

"I'm an engineer, I should know good build quality when I ..."

I'm impressed...

Anywho, enjoyed the demo quite a bit.
Reminds me of what racing games should be like.
The controls feel great- awesome graphics-love the physics.
I just have question.

Can you turn the "driver flying out of the windshield" option off?
It's a bit gimmicky (already done at least 15 years ago w/ Roadrash) and it's distracting because I'd truly rather see the car crashes.
I thought most race car drivers wore seatbelts these days?

"Oh, and to those who arent sure about controls, its called Belkin Nostromo Gamepad. Nice build quality, and 20 dollars last i checked"

Do not buy Belkin.
It's cheap JUNK.
If you wanna invest in a gamepad, spend 30-40 bucks and get something decent- same as a mouse.

17 posts and 15 or so of senseless bitching.... bunch of women around here.
For anyone genuinely interested in THE GAME, I personally, was highly impressed with the demo.
Which was strange cause I hadn't heard a word about this game before the demo was released (and then removed).
But the graphics are very impressive- colorful and runs smooth as silk with everything cranked.
The game controls were balls on, didn't try it with a mouse so I'm not sure about mouse lag.
The main thing that grabbed me was how fresh the game felt- kind of a crazy mixture between GTA and The Jetsons.
The only bad thing I could say was that the flying levels seemed pretty difficult, bordering on frustrating- especially the race one.
But overall, I agreed that the demo felt very polished and got me interested in a game that I hadn't even seen coming down the pipe.
You might want to check it out.

I disagree.
There are a ton of RTS's out there and they are great in there own right.
But a turn based strategy game has it's own flavour.
It's more about taking your own sweet time, planning your mulitple courses of action, caring about smaller details within your cities...
It's very detail oriented and more relaxed which to me hieghtens the tension when you do have battles.

To each his own. I like RTS's for different reasons.
But you gotta keep the TBS genre alive and well.

What's the damn pont of disabling the save feature?
I hate it when they go cheap on demos- like if they only give you the tiniest taste, you will be begging for more.
Put out a solid demo, like Battlefield 1942 or Unreal Tournament 2004, that's un-watered down and impressive in it's own right.
That's what makes people go from demo to purchase.

Eh... not a chance in hell I would buy this game regardless of the demo anyways.

"To be honest, I think it is. I barely got started on it when I got sidetracked and have yet to get back to playing (and, being such a continuity bastard, have yet to start on Uru, which is still on my shelf.)"

I'm in the exact same boat myself.
I loved what I played but I set it down for a week or two and now I don't know if I'll ever get back into it (it's been a couple months now).
It's just one of those type of games.

I enjoy the flashlight scheme as it is.
I've read about people cranking up the gamma.
People flying through on God-mode, modifying config settings to give more power to weapons or armor...
This game is easy as hell and I'm surprised so many people are having difficulty with it.
These little annoyances like having to switch between flashlight and weapon quickly adds to the difficulty and realism in my opinion (not to say duct tape isn't realistic).
My one and ONLY complaint of Doom 3 is that I wish they would have made it a little more difficult, along the lines of maybe Far Cry.
The difficulty in Far Cry brought additional tension to the game experience.

"...eventually time and money and bad management came into play and it didn't work out."

I hope "bad management" doesn't mean and executive decision was made to nix the "no music" idea.
I love what Reznor had to say and I really liked his ideas of how the game should sound.
It's a survival/ horror type game.
Adding a soundtrack would ruin the suspense in a game like this.

"While there are still some issues with the non-driving parts of the game..."

I'm a bit concerned w/ the out-of-car parts of the game myself.
I've seen some hands-on previews that claims it's absolutely dreadful.
Hopefully they get that stuff straightened out before they release the PC version, dammit.

"we've had half life 2 leaks and doom3 leaks and world of warcraft leaks.. why cant someone leak duke nukem forever so we can take a look at it?"

As someone who just recently saw the E3 demo for the FIRST time a few months back, I gotta say they are probably doing the right thing not releasing whatever they had then, now.
A few years ago I can see where it must have looked mind-blowing.
By today's standards, it looks like crap- trust me.
They really don't have a choice but to upgarde the engine, etc.
But if that version did get released or leaked now, it would probably be a good thing because I don't think seeing a DNF news post would generate any excitement anymore.
