HZD=Skyrim for children ages 7-12.

Have you even played either game? Not that Skyrim wasn't fun but there was no depth to that game at all. The story was... well the less said about the main story, the better. HZD had a much more interesting story and lore.

Yep, played 'em both. HZD only once, Skyrim still to this day. I'll agree that the main plot of Skyrim had no depth, but to say the game itself has no depth is just not true. I think most open world games really miss the mark that Skyrim hits. As big as the world is, it pales in comparison to the combined space of all the caves, forts, ruins, etc. Not to mention the entire snow elf underworld.

I love how complex the combination of smithing/enchanting is. I love how your weapon swings are slow and cumbersome if you aren't yet at a high level with it. I love all the books you can read, even. The lore is just fantastic. The sound effects in dwemmer ruins. The plethora of factions you can join.

All of this was done more than 10 years ago, and hasn't really been surpassed by anybody since, imo. Skyrim had plenty of depth, but you had to go look for it.

Ok fair enough. Skyrim does do some things well, and I wouldn't even call HZD a better game, but it does seem weird to compare HZD and Skyrim in that way when they are very different games that focus on different things. Skyrim is more of an exploration sandbox game while HZD is much more narrative driven. I didn't enjoy the lore in Skyrim much (and yes I forced myself to read through the lore books as I went through) while I found HZD to be much more interesting and original. But yes, the Dwemer ruins in Skyrim (and before that, in Morrowind) were indeed something special.

I legit dont even know if I should upgrade for this game?

r7 1700 stock
1080
16 gigs RAM
1440p monitor running at 144hz

Then if I do upgrade, I have no idea to what? I heard the new (or soon to be out?) AMD chips are amazing for the price. I only research new tech when it comes time to upgrade.

You specs are similar to mine. I plan on upgrading my GPU if I can get my hands on a Nvidia 30XX soon, but if I can't then I'm still comfortable with a 1080ti. Obviously it won't look as good as in the video, but keep in mind that this game is designed to be playable on previous-gen consoles, so it will still run fine and look good with a few settings turned down.

Oh damn, did the 2nd game suck? I still haven't played the first but watched the game movie. All the positive talk made me want to see it.

I would agree with jacobvandy that the second game was great. My main criticism is that the game mechanics have not evolved in any way from the first, so it feels very samey. You still scrounge around for scrap to upgrade your gear, and spend most of your time stealthing around, taking down baddies one-by-one, and so on. I've seen very few legit criticisms of the game (most of it can be dismissed as sexist and homophobic). The story is good, the major characters are great and memorable for the most part. I had no big issues with the narrative portion of the game at all really.

I'd be a lot happier with WW on HBO Max if HBO Max didn't have the worst video and audio quality of any streaming service. Even if I had to pay for it, I'd much rather have a VOD option that would let me watch in 4K.

It really is bad. I don't have HBO Max anymore but last year I tried watching Chernobyl and I got a lot of buffering and the video kept regressing to what looked like 480p. It looked terrible. I'm on a hard wired LAN with decent internet. I should be able to handle 4K streaming. I hope they improve their streaming because they have enough content that I wouldn't mind signing up again in the future.

I watched a few gameplay videos of this and it looks so incredibly generic and dull. Even the title is super generic. It's also bombastic as hell. It seems to take itself way too seriously but it just looks and sounds ridiculous. The launch trailer made me laugh. Looks like another game designed by committee.

That's something that people just don't seem to get. They see Trump as some kind of big job creator, when in reality he did nothing to improve job growth over Obama. Nothing at all. A third Obama term would have been better for jobs, or at least the same as under Trump. Certainly not any worse.

At least they can be his pen pals while he's in prison.
As much as I think he deserves it, I highly doubt Trump will spend a single day in jail. Rich people rarely do. There is a sliver of a chance, but you could give me 1,000 to 1 odds and I still wouldn't bet on it. If he's smart, he'll resign on Jan. 13th and let Pence pardon him so he can even skip the hassle being charged, and tried.

I think that Biden would pardon him if he were charged with any federal crimes. In the interest of 'unity' or something. That's just how Biden is. And I think that being pardoned by Biden would be such a huge blow to Trump's ego that I might prefer to see that happen rather than have him serve prison time, which as you said is unlikely.

Imagine how jealous Trump must be of Putin and Kim Jong-un. Trumps becomes president, buddies up with the dictators of the world, and after 4 years is booted out while his buddies are still in power for the foreseeable future. He so badly wanted to be part of that clique, but even they had no respect for that clown.

I love the Mass Effect trilogy but I feel like the games have not aged too well (particularly the first) and would need full remakes in order to get me interested. I've always disliked the lack of jumping and verticality. It felt so restricting, again particularly in the first game. Going back to that in 2020 would feel like such a regression.

I was honestly pleasantly surprised that we got through election day without any polling places being blown up or shot up by militia cosplayers. Unfortunately they seem to be getting pretty riled up over votes being counted so who knows if we will get through the election without a bit of terrorism or not. Come on guys, just wait a few more days and you can get your rocks off by shooting up all the commies you want in the new Call of Duty game. I believe there are attachments for the console controllers that will let you play one-handed.

I believe it. I remember playing that game and thinking to myself "Man this game has a lot of text."

When I first played the game at release, all of that text turned me off and I stopped playing after a couple of hours. I picked it up again a year later and I'm glad I gave it a second chance because it turned out to be one of my favorite game ever. I found it to be more compelling than Baldur's Gate a year prior but obviously it was not as successful.

Among Us seems to be so huge, I'm strangely tempted to buy it, just to see what the uproar is all about, first hand. The gameplay videos seem a little underwhelming though.

It's really nothing special. Not that it's a bad game, but I'm puzzled that the game is still popular and people haven't moved on to something else yet. I understand why it's a good game for streamers (which is how it got so popular in the first place) and people playing with groups of friends, but playing solo and joining random games gets old real fast. If you're looking for a party game to play with friends it might be worth checking out I guess.

I haven't seen/played Little Hope yet but Man of Medan was pretty meh as well. It's too bad they couldn't recapture the magic that Until Dawn had. That was some great B-grade horror. Cheesy but in a fun way. Now it seems like they are taking it all a bit too seriously.

Ah yes, the huge 20 DVD boxed edition of the game. Anyway, there will be no discs for the PC version. Physical boxed copies will contain download keys for the game.

Why the fuck would any of you wish for a change of engine now? Do you want to go another 5 years without a new BGS game?

I wouldn't suggest that they switch mid-development for ESVI. That would be crazy. It's too late for that. I was more thinking for any future titles after that (ESVII or Fallout 5). Of course, most of us will probably be dead of old age before ESVII so it's probably not relevant anyway.

You must not be running Windows 10? I've lost track of the number of severe bugs they've included with every single major Windows 10 update. From what I read, it mostly comes from the fact that they got rid of their physical hardware lab test harnesses and rely on virtual environments, which don't behave like physical systems in some scenarios. It would be nice if the gaming department did something different, but I certainly won't hold my breath.

I wouldn't argue that MS has exceptional quality control or anything. I'm just saying that it couldn't realistically get any worse for Bethesda with regards to their Fallout/ES games, so I can only see this as a positive thing.

Yea I don't care about MTs. That's fine. What I do worry about though is if this results in a shift in focus from single player content to multiplayer content, if Cyberpunk Online becomes really popular, much like the GTAV situation with Rockstar.

inXile simply can't seem to make games that sell anymore. Wasteland 3 only made it to 6th place last week (launch was 8/28) and it's nowhere to be seen this week in spite of pretty decent critics reviews (86 MC average). Luckily it also has coop so publishers will hopefully not conclude yet again that single player RPGs do not sell anymore but it's still a pity to see WL3 fail at sales. It doesn't bode well for Microsoft's future plans with regard to inXile either. I don't necessarily mean shutting them down but the types of games Microsoft will greenlight.

Well it was a crowdfunded game so I would expect sales after launch to be a bit less than they otherwise would be. And also it's free on that Xbox game pass thing I think. That said, a couple more weeks in the top 10 would have been nice to see. I'm enjoying it so far.
