The ability to upgrade buildings and conveyers is very much needed. I'm glad they're prioritizing that feature. Destroying production lines and rebuilding them from scratch to upgrade them is anti-fun. I think I'm going to shelve the game for now (I never did quite finish my Dyson sphere) but the game has a lot of potential. Can't wait to check it out again after a few months or so, after some updates.

Yep this game was a pleasant surprise. I had no interest in the game but I had an Ubisoft+ account so I thought I'd give it a try. So glad I did. Better than AC:Valhalla for sure and one of the best games of last year. One issue I have with the game, that GinRummy touched on, are the puzzles that involve a lot of platforming. They can be a little annoying. Zelda: BotW kept platforming in shrines to a minimum and that was the right call. I would have preferred more logic puzzles instead. But I still love the game.

Man... I wish I had liked this game more. It's well made, and seems to be popular, but I just couldn't get into the actual gameplay... too much digging, not enough combat, or something.

Same here. I kind of liked it, but there just wasn't enough variety in the missions to hook me in. I haven't tried escort missions since that's a newer addition I believe. It also probably doesn't help that I always played solo. I felt like if I jumped into a random game, I would just be holding my team back, so I never bothered. It's been a few months since I've played, so I might give it another chance. The Driller was my favorite class, as digging wasn't as much of a chore with them, as Pyro mentioned.

This game completely replaced my Factorio addiction

That's high praise. I wouldn't go that far but it does have potential. From what I've played, I don't see the game having much replayability at the moment but that will probably change in the future as they add more features. Mod support would help a lot as well. The English translation is hilariously bad. It doesn't really affect the game, it's just funny hearing badly translated tutorials being read verbatim. I still prefer Factorio and Satisfactory but those games have had years of polish and refinement. I'm sure DSP will get there too and I'm looking forward to future updates. It's great.

I'm actually kind of surprised the organizers aren't more successful. I'm not a big fan of those political thriller movies but years ago when social media was getting started it was easy to imagine scenarios where small groups of people with a cause they were willing to die for could carry out very visible strikes.

I doubt that very many of these MAGA terrorists are actually willing to put their lives on the line for what they believe in. They probably expected to be treated with kids gloves when they stormed the capital so they didn't see it as a big risk. Pure entitlement. What does concern me are the school shooter type of misfits who might feel like society has failed them and they have nothing to lose, and who may have found a home in the MAGA crowd. There are probably a few of them who are just itching for an opportunity to become MAGA martyrs, and they can do some real damage.

4K on a 7 inch screen?

I guess it would be 4k while docked but still, I'd much rather have higher, more stable FPS at 1080p. Breath of the Wild has some serious framerate issues and I believe that was at 900p while docked and 720p undocked. Maybe it just wasn't well-optimized. I'd happily buy a Switch Pro for BoTW 2 if it can do 1080p at a decent framerate. With a portable console like the Switch, I can't see 4k performance as being anything other than abysmal.

I loved Dying Light and have been looking forward to DL2 but I've gotten the feeling that the devs can't really decide on what they want DL2 to be. Seems to be less focus on Zombies this time around from what I've seen, which has me worried but it could still turn out fine. But all of the delays and lack of info isn't helping to ease my fears that this will turn out to be a disappointment, if it ever even gets released at all.

Looking forward to playing this on my Tencent XRTX 7400 TR video card when it comes out in 10 years. Kidding aside, they did confirm that Starfield is coming out first before the next Elder Scrolls game didn't they? So it's still a few years off probably. Hopefully with all of the time they've had to work on this, they've figured out how to uncouple the physics from the framerate.

Ah good old Hexen II. The first game I played that had OpenGL support out of the box. That game looked amazing. Always loved the nonlinear nature of these games, which would require some backtracking through hub areas. Made the world feel more real.

I wonder why crafting materials matter? There are only a few types, and it shouldn't require more than a handful of bytes to store how many you have...

If you craft, for example, the Armor Patches for clothing, it can be a random quality, white to legendary yellow, with the 'common' crafting pattern. So craft 10 times, get 2 blue, 3 green, 5 white, etc. Then you get people crafting 500+ times just to level crafting, and their inventory is full of that crap, so they sell all their greens and under to NPCs or the vending shops, and apparently those sold items never get deleted... there goes the save file size, apparently.

If that's true (I haven't been able to confirm yet if sold items do get deleted from vendor inventory after some time) then you could probably stick with selling your loot at a terminal which doesn't have an inventory. It just disappears. That might help. Having said that, I rarely craft and my save files are at 5MB now, only 3MB away from the 8MB limit and I've got a ways to go. This needs to be fixed soon. This is not something that only affects people who dupe items through glitches or hacks. The game runs pretty good for me and I've been having fun with it, but now I'm afraid to continue playing and corrupting my saves.

Sadder still is they let it spew its ignorance and propaganda for 4 years. Sigh

The total absence of critical thinking from his supporters is stunning. I'll never fail to be amazed by it. The left had no problem accepting that Trump won in 2016 because... he won. They may not have liked it, but they accepted the reality. I think a large percentage of Trump supporters will never accept that Trump lost, particularly to someone they seem to hate almost as much as Obama. Instead of accepting that they lost, they're further isolating themselves into fact-free echo chambers and that can only be a bad thing.

The roughness comes in with blah gameplay and bugs. Performance is tolerable considering the top tier graphics.

Top tier graphics?! In medium/low settings the game looks fucking terrible and yet the performance is abysmal. It's like the game is calculating every NPCs behavior in the entire city and generating them as well even though you're inside in some ugly appartment. One of those first missions in the appartment complex? Or the night club? It all looked really mediocre to me yet my 1070Ti was on it's knees getting thoroughly abused by this game.
No excuses. Terrible, horrendous optimization and I'll eat my left testicle if one of our friendly neighborhood GPU manufacturers hasn't anything to do with this, just to up the sales of a product they can't provide.

On a 1080ti, running mostly medium settings at 1080p, game looks fantastic and runs smooth (70-100 fps). Best looking game I've ever played. Was not expecting it to look this good at these settings. Definitely top tier graphics here. Very strange that it looks so bad for you.

The game has some bugs but not any more than most AAA titles. It's definitely in a much better state than any game Bethesda has ever developed, though that's not saying much. Worst bug I've had is the game freezing when I go to the map, twice in 35 hours. Other than that, it's just been the occasional floating/clipping NPC or something. Nothing game breaking.

With the shortage of video cards rivaling that of ammo, I hope my 1080 can work well enough for another 6 months.

Ammo shortage? You mean ammunition? There's an ammunition shortage? Where? The world is drowning in arms and ammo. I categorically refuse to believe there's an ammunition shortage, especially in America of all places.

You have no idea how crazy it is down here then. People have bought ALL the ammo. You cannot find any ammo for almost any price, anymore, in the USA. Last time I looked a month ago, every place was sold out online, even at 2-5x the normal price for pretty much any caliber.

I don't know what exactly people think is going to happen, but whatever does, a lot of people are going to have thousands of rounds on hand.

A lot of American gun owners have wild fantasies about fighting back against government oppression. They think that Biden is basically Stalin and plans to send his BLM Black Army to go door-to-door to confiscate all weapons by force. Gun shops love election season but especially love when democrats get elected because that's when sales skyrocket. I know a few of these types of people. They are absolutely ruled by their fear.

Sucks about the bugs but if that's the biggest complaint people are having with the game, then that's good news. It'll get fixed up nicely in time. They did a great job with Witcher 3 after release and this will be no different I'm sure.

Well this game looks way better than I think anyone was expecting. I have an Ubisoft+ account so I thought I'd give it a try. I couldn't bring myself to finish Assassin's Creed Valhalla (was fun for a while but it got really repetitive and had a throwaway story), and I'm enjoying this game much more so far. Definitely has a BotW feel to it. I'm glad it doesn't take itself too seriously. I quite enjoy the humor in it. If the rest of the game is as good as what I've played so far, it will be one of the best games released this year I think.

There is no way to fully avoid PvP (outside of story missions), but you can generally move around it or head to another part of the map. There aren't any penalties to dying (apart from it interrupting whatever you were doing), you just respawn in the general vicinity a couple seconds later. Which is what also makes defending yourself from PvP intensely frustrating as your attacker can just keep coming until one of you decides to leave the area fully and there's no real penalty to randomly attacking people (player bounties are pointless and the hostility marker doesn't last long and is fickle in its purpose).

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll just give it a try and see what kind of luck I have.

I'm not interested in being fresh meat but I am interested in giving this a try if I can finally avoid PvP for the most part. Is that possible yet? I haven't played RDR Online yet because I don't care for PvP. If I do get killed, are there any real consequences or do I just respawn at the nearest town or something?

I really hope Diablo 4 is more deliberate and challenging. Diablo 3 just turned into a mindless speedrun spamfest.

I've always wished for a more deliberately paced Diablo game where there isn't vast differences in mobility between characters/builds. Public games in Diablo 3 always turned into speedrun spamfests as you said, where there is usually one character plowing way ahead of the others, making it impossible to keep up. Spamming teleport should not be an option, and movement speed should be a fixed stat that cannot be altered by gear. Skills that temporarily boost movement speed are ok but should not ever be spammable. Make levels smaller, turn up enemy density, and keep all players working together in the same general area.
