Sounds interesting to me. I like the over-the-top arcade-like laughs from driving tanks in BF42 but I've enjoyed sub, ship and air sims in the past. Plus it'll give me an excuse to try out Impulse and maybe pick up GalCiv while I'm at it.

I remember a few years ago, we used to have good screaming matches about such things but it's very quiet right now.

I think it's politically correct to yell about whatever you think in OoTB threads.

I think Biden hit it on the head and that he's ten million times better than Hillary would have been, at least according to foreign policy. Palin is still scaring me.

I understood that when you voted in Bush you didn't know. When he was re-elected I freaked out. Now you know better. Please, please respect the planet you live on and don't make yet another horrible mistake.

Any company is entitled to market and make products as they see fit as the buying public can make choices on where they spend their money.

Now that we have prepaid Visa Cards available at any gas station and services like Steam that are finally functioning, I have a few games stocked up that I haven't even downloaded yet.

I've always said that once the mass market catches up and the unwashed heathens realize that games from ten years ago have more depth, the market will accommodate them.

I was hoping that *now* would be a good time as I'm getting old and would like marginalized mass marketing and 'casualized' games to swing back to what we've been used to for many years, but I've been wrong before.

Eventually, (and hopefully before my death), segments of the hollywood consumer market will require that and developers will produce games of cerebral value for those of us that enjoy that sort of thing.

In the mean time, I still have a lot of games to play, but I'm usually a couple of years behind the times. Perhaps now is the time to upgrade my machine and play everything in all its glorous splendour.

I like the free speech approach as I've gotten many hours of amusement from reading utter crap here. Heh, heh. And countless hours of useless but fun bickering.

I'm sure many of us recognize name changes fairly quickly, eh Rilely? It's interesting watching some people actually growing up, evolving and becoming interesting contributors.

Anyway, I'm into old games and haven't played this one. Is it really shite? Is it worth the effort of 1.6GB and the install process and configuration?

If it's a good single player game, I'm willing to try it. I don't care about the graphics if the gameplay is half-assed and entertaining.

I want another experience like that. Or maybe I don't, I can't remember.

I liked the first two Age of Empires ( never tried the third ) as well as Age of Mythology, possibly because I'm an archeology/anthropology/history buff. I'm not a massive RTS fan, I just play the single player campaigns as I get my ass kicked online before I can blink.

I also liked Homeworld One and Two, those were fun. I especially enjoyed Nexus: The Jupiter Incident but I'm not sure what category that falls into.

I really liked Vice City and am getting near the end of San Andreas. I'll definitely buy GTA4 as these are brilliant, polished, funny, entertaining and crazy games.

I could comment on some niggling yet minor issues with the controls, but all in all, they've allowed me to configure the keys and mouse as I see fit.

I bought San Andreas on Steam, but to play mods ( a couple of graphics enhancements), I had to downgrade the exe to an older version. Now I don't need to run Steam or be online to play the game.

As long as I don't get this new bizarre DRM EA's been using lately, I'll buy it. Otherwise I'll wait a year for it to get patched out and drop in price, I'm in no rush.

Freespace 2 is an absolutely brilliant game.

I installed the FSO on a hackintosh and it worked. I believe I tried some of the all-in-one builds out there. I was under the impression it was abandonware, but six bucks is definitely worth it.

I want to try the Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5 conversions as well. But the pure campaign is loads of fun. Works great with a mouse too.

He was quite often very witty and creative with his insults. I found many of them quite entertaining.

Some people have a knack for that sort of thing, others don't.

I sort of miss those occasional over-the-top insult rants.

I played Vice City on the PC quite awhile after it was released and loved it, sure the graphics were dated at the time.

Several weeks ago I got San Andreas for twenty bucks through Steam and after adding a few graphic enhancing mods, I think it's an excellent game. Not that the eye candy matters, it's a well designed and fun game in my opinion.

I wish someone would make a full-blown RPG like these games.

I've had bad experiences for the most part like anyone else with console to PC ports and generally avoid them 99% of the time, but Rockstar seems to put in a massive effort.

I could complain and nitpick about a few controller issues with the port, such as flying with a mouse (don't do it, reconfigure your keyboard) but all in all, they've done about the best job you really can in allowing you to remap controller keys to the mouse and keyboard.

I'm quite willing to buy GTA4 and look forward to it. As I don't know anyone with a console except for my buddy that has a PS2 and San Andreas (which I've never seen in action) I don't really care how late it is.

I'd rather have a fun game that does justice to the PC controls than worry about some PCHP guy that played it SEVEN months ago on a console that I have no interest in.

Honestly, I'd love to put my two DRM cents in there. But I haven't played the game and don't plan to in the near future. So it's not fair to pretend that I've reviewed it.

Perhaps next year when limited activations are removed I'll consider it.

I can deal with a lot of bullshit, but the 'rental' system isn't working for me.

I'll wait until they patch that but despite the noise it sounds like a shallow game that wouldn't really appeal to me anyway.

I didn't get burned last year when I knew I would be without an internet connection for awhile and I wanted Bioshock and Half Life 2 Episode 2.

While both being single player games, you can't install them without an internet connection.

I bought an old copy of Quake 4 and season one of Sam and Max. It tided me over without having to phone home.
