Old, beer drinking gamer. I think my first game was the ASCII version of Star Trek on an IBM mainframe at my Dad's work. Second was probably Pong that he built out of parts from an 'Electronics Today' magazine on a black and white TV....

They either ask ALL reviewers to wait or they don't. Suppressing bad reviews for extra sales is immoral and reviewers should not facilitate such a deception.

They shouldn't ask anyone fuck all. Anyone who wants to write a review and express what they think should say what they want to and post it whenever they feel like it.

ie: The GTA SA STEAM version does not play well with a lot of mods.....

I think that's because San Andreas on Steam was the 3.0 version which was patched to kill all mods because of Hot Coffee.

By copying over the 1.0 exe and maybe a few dll's I was able to apply some graphics and the radar mod (didn't try much else). Plus you don't have to load steam to play it after you do that which makes for much faster startup loading times.

I really liked Vice City as I grew up in the eighties and also enjoyed San Andreas. I couldn't 'relate' to SA as much but both were over all really cool, open ended and fun games. I mean, really well done.

I wish someone would make an RPG like that, perhaps set within a post-apocalyptic world...

I hope all the Microsoft/Vista fanbois are getting some sort of compensation for posting. Spewing this crap for free - that just makes you a douche bag and if you really believe what your saying... well, I'll let you guess what that makes you.

Holy crap dude, did you even read any of these posts? They're not *that* technical, even a bragging/laymen guy like you should be able to understand them.

So many people don't realize that software development is long, hard, difficult and often tedious. It also takes a lot of time. Any kind of tools that help that out are a GOOD thing.

Bah. UT had more game modes, weapons, maps, etc, but I think Q3 had better fundamental gameplay.

I agree, UT never 'felt' right to me, but then again maybe that's because I was really good at Q3 at the time and perhaps a little zealous in my games of choice in my youth.

As to Quake Zero, I'm looking forward to it. It sounds like plain old Q3 without the mods and gibs, plus all the matchmaking and friends and achievements that the kids are so fond of these days.

It'll be nice to just load up a quick game in the browser and go bounce around q3ctf4 getting railed to death by a new generation. Too bad about the gibs though.

You can do what I do and save yourself the hassle, bandwidth and HD space. Just go to a pawn shop a couple of years later and buy the 'previously enjoyed' ultimate collectors edition for six bucks.

And I was under the impression Kirk stuck to aliens, as opposed to people from the bridge.

Actually it was Roddenberry that banged Uhura.

Ahh, see. That wasn't so hard.

I'm an old Q3/Enemy Territory player and haven't checked out any of these new-fangled games yet though I do like reading peoples opinions on them.

From what he wrote down and posted, I think he's saying:

Left 4 Dead sucks compared to Call of Duty 5's awesome Zombie three player mode on a lan.

The single player campaign is more boring and linear than any he's ever experienced before.

The multiplayer aspect of CoD5 blows solar winds across any other version of CoD that he's played, especially version 4.

He likes bolt action weapons.

He plays modded versions (like myself, I'm partial to ETPro) and is probably finacky and a bit elitist.

At least he explained his opinion and probably has a good idea what he's talking about.

To each their own. So there's your answer to 'WHAT???'.

(slowly so you can hear)

I THINK HE SAID:

but the MP is stellar, a lot better then the disaster CoD4,

CAN YOU HEAR IT NOW OR DO YOU NEED A 'WAIT' before your 'WHAT???', and a 'THIS.' after IT?

A graphically-revised 1942 would rock, however.

I agree. Just keep the gameplay, fun and hilarity.

Nexus 2 would be great. I played the BS Midway demo and didn't realize either that it was the same developers. I remember not being too impressed with it at the time.

???? Currently Projekt (maker's of Witcher) are the BEST developers and organization in the gaming industry....

Yeah, and I'm sure that's right.

I was trying to get at the point that there were a few games I would have liked to buy but didn't because I couldn't remember which games had what kind of draconian bullshit DRM.

Out of the titles I listed I really wanted to grab the Witcher, but I knew that the first one was pretty light on the DRM but couldn't remember if the Expanded Edition was all fucked up or not.

And on top of that, my deciding factor for the Witcher didn't involve DRM, it was remembering that I'd read that they censored the NA version for the 'prudish' Americans. So I'll buy it online and have it shipped. I don't see why Canadians should get censored shit just because the Americans can't handle a little bit of T&A.

As to the whole point, I'm standing in Walmart with money in my pocket and want to buy a game. Why should I have to piss around trying to remember which game has the worst DRM?

I don't.

I didn't.

I bought a super violent movie and was quite happy with it.

*yawn*

I'm happy about this.

I wanted to buy Bioshock last year but couldn't as I didn't have an internet connection.

I was in Walmart the other day and saw Dead Space, Fallout 3, spore Mass Effect, the Witcher and Bioshock and really wanted to make an impulse buy. Instead I bought the Rambo 4 DVD (it was fun!). Whatever.

I realize that F3 doesn't have mass hassles or the Witcher is missing some content due to the USA's prude code. But I couldn't remember wich ones were out to fuck me over.

Go sue them, my not buying anything doesn't seem to work. Of course I doubt the suit will.

I'm buying a fucking GAME for fucks sake, not some kind of world destruction software that can only be used safely in the hands of the NSA/CSS or the guys that run Area 51.

Jeepers.

Cool, I'll go look that thread up.

I just find it amusing when mostly cool headed people blow off steam. Sometimes it takes you by surprise and is quite entertaining. I do it myself on occasion.

I wish we could go back to the IBM OS/2 vs MS Win95 wars, they were far more entertaining.

And who cares if you're a software developer or not? Do you know how many programmers I've supported that couldn't troubleshoot themselves out of a wet paper bag?

Anyways, I was hoping to jump from W2K and go to Vista, but I had to get XP for DX9 support. Now I'll just leap frog Vista and hit Windows 7. Maybe.

Too bad they didn't decide to completely nix the 32bit versions, maybe W8 will do it.

Congratulations, America. I wish 51% of you had figured out what a disaster Bush was four years ago, but I'm impressed with how relatively quickly so many of you have come to your senses again.

By the look of many world-wide polls, the planet is collectively sighing in relief.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think that the world probably feels a lot more positive about the future tonight. I sure do.

Thanks.
