News Comments > Blood on GOG.com
10. Re: Blood on GOG.com Apr 23, 2010, 01:44 Reactor

.seriously, I sometimes think that you guys cherish certain games just for the fact that they're old, not available and not played

Sometimes I'm sure people do. Sometimes, games like Outcast and Blood and just really fun to play through again.

Blood, IMO, was broken and confusing, especially considering it's competition at the time.

I have zero idea what you're talking about, but it sounds like you're confusing the original Blood with Blood 2, which was broken and using the same engine as Shogo and NOLF. Blood was one of those 'pixelated pieces of crap'.

Now, that, I consider a bonifide classic, hands down, no argument.

NOLF was a great game, but it was so far from a bonifide classic or true legend it wasn't even funny.

My advice: stay off the hard drugs.

They had separate teams working on Blood 2 and Shogo. The Blood 2 team was unfortunately a little green, and the game used a really early version of the Lithtech engine (so there were a lot of tech teething problems)

They really should have put their best guys on it, considering how much of a classic Blood was by that stage.

Not more importantly! Blood is an amazing game.

That said, yes, Outcast is awesome too.

You'll need to drop back to something before 196.21, which what I originally tried. I updated mine, and (obviously) have the same issue.

After this patch, I now have a ton of framerate issues, regardless of shadows or draw distance. So... yay, a ruined game.

It's like playing the console version now, even with the view distance maxed. Really annoying.

It looks the same to me.

Interesting. I can't recall if the issue was (for Australians) purchasing or creating an account. I may check things out anyway.

Smart of them to have a big sale at a differant time than steams holiday sales.

It'd also be smart if countries other than the US and UK and EU could enjoy their sales.

News Comments > Ubisoft: DRM Will "Evolve"

ROFLMAO @

Congratulations on your 12th birthday.

You have your opinions. I have mine.

Wow, good eyes. Next time I need a mystery solved I'm coming to you Sherlock.

Anyway, this kind of DRM is stupid whether it works or not. The majority of gamers know there's certain line game devs shouldn't cross when trying to pull stuff like this off, because crossing it means the company is being put before the people the game's being designed for.

Most people want entertainment, as well as being respected. Businesses need money to survive, but they really need to understand the respect thing if they want their customers to stick around.

I'm sure every written thing would be better in the hands of a Pulitzer prize winning author. But, for the kind of game it was, I thought Prototype was half decently written.

Yea I bought AC2 as well and I've had absolutely no problems with the DRM either. And it is a fabulous game to boot. One of the best made in recent times. As usual, people are blowing this DRM thing out of proportion.

I don't know. To me this thing is like ordering a burger and knowing someone has spat in it (or worse). If I''m really, really hungry I may eat that burger. But, right now I'm not that desperate, so I'm happy to call this thing what it is and buy something else.

If you like this food because you can't yet taste the spit, then... enjoy.

Divine Divinity was patched by the devs because of forum requests. Obviously that doesn't apply to the original (pre-gog) versions, but it's good it happened, because the game has a few 'must fix' bugs.

You can't turn off autoaim?

Not that I'm aware of, but it's not your typical console autoaim.

but yeh, it would be nice if bullets in general did more damage (to everyone)

I think that'll happen when guns are powered up more, but... dual machineguns don't do enough damage?

I would LOVE to go buy the game, but it's not FUCKING OUT YET!

I've got 60 bucks in my hands, right here. I WANT this game so bad I can almost TASTE it.

This is true Ah well, just use the spare time you have to pick on Ubisoft, or something.

Is no one annoyed by the auto-aim? Game plays like its on Wii difficulty with the huge aim assist thats in the demo, jeez.

Not really. The game for me was more about making my own fun. But, it would be nice if there was a no auto-aim option.

The timer is perfectly fair. If you need more time, restart the demo. If you need a longer playtime than half an hour (paused during menus, which is nice) go buy the game.

For a demo the restrictions are perfectly reasonable. Everyone's been screaming for a sandbox demo for a long while, and this is a good one.

Oh and, I'm with you guys- the game is awesome.

This shit has got to stop.

Yep, but as long as people buy the games, it'll keep on happening (and getting worse, I'm sure of it)
