It looks like more of the same shallow eyecandy at a higher resolution to me. Maybe I am cynical. I like the original Unreal better than any of the sequels. It had an interesting single player plot, good multiplayer play and tons of unique designs. Even the menu interface was different than anything out at the time. UT and etc are little more than Quake clones.

Hippy acid trips and comments about an unwinnable war. I think they got most of their historical data from Time-Life books. And what is the deal with those buff Viet Cong soldiers? Arnold Schwarzenegger was never that pumped up! Most of the VC were scrawny, short, malnutritioned 3rd world people.

I loved NFS PU. It is probably my favorite driving game of all time. The Underground demo didn't impress me. It is little more than a leave-your-brain-at-the-door game for low IQ yahoos. You know the type: They think neon lights and tinted windows are "da bomb, yo"! And the features are line with this market segment.

Oh well. Dang yo, dat "Type R" sticka make it go mo' fasta!

Sigh.

Great! A WW2 FPS from the Zastava Automobili of game publishers. I can't wait.

Are there any SWOTL fans reading this? At first I was cheesed off about the arcade dumbing down of SWON but I'm not so sure it will be a bad game. Crimson Skies was very arcadish and it was a fun game (when it didn't lock up like a mofo).

I like WW2 games. But it does seem like it's being beat to death as subject matter these days. Right now I have RtCW, MoHH:AA Breakthrough, Call of Duty, and Battlefield 1942 demos installed on my machine in addition to a full install of B17: The Mighty 8th. If I wanted to I could pull European Air War and Jane's WW2 Fighters off the bookshelf and install them as well.

I'm not saying I don't like this trend. MoHAA and the Breakthrough expansion pack is shipping to my address as I type this. I just wonder when they're going to focus on other periods like Korea. Mig Alley was a great sim. Viet Nam remains neglected for the most part, though this is changing. The carrier based multiplayer sim is a good idea.

The Green Berets did not exist until well after WW2. Eidos might want to inform the developers of this fact. No?
