I can see developers getting distracted for a week with this setback--but even that's a stretch. Devs aren't the ones (I hope) who are investigating the breach. Just seems like an excuse that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Probably would work well with Nanite, VRS, and culling. Combining all these technologies would mean crowds wouldn't necessarily be an issue.

Depending on how old those backups are, some of the devs may be HOPING they release the code.

Sure, development costs have gone up--but so have profits. Further, digital distribution wasn't a thing back in the day. Zero need to encode discs. Zero printing costs. Zero shipping costs. No profits lost on resellers. No money spent on space in a warehouse to hold the product. They are saving a ton of money. No money lost on product resale. Once the game is developed, with the exception of some printed media for those with slow Internet connections, it's mostly just profits. THIS is why $70 is outrageous. The market is bigger than it's ever been and the costs for distribution are significantly lower. Don't fall for it.

Source please? I'm pretty sure they said it would not be a new engine, as already hinted at by others.

Yeah, you're right. I read it as "new engine", but it sounds like an overhaul--which is something I would have expected anyway.

This is ridiculous. Monster Energy drinks didn't invent the word "monster". It's not even a competing product. You can't put "monster" in a title anymore?

Noone is forced to buy apple products

Nobody's forced to buy a PC either. You could always use a Mac. Imagine, though, if the PC only had one available OS and Epic Games was all you were allowed to install on the hardware you paid for. Fortunately for us, that isn't the case. So Epic isn't comparable to Apple. Also, some people are required to own at least one Apple phone for business-specific reasons. It may be provided by your company in most of these instances, but is owning two phones practical for everyone? Why was Microsoft forced to stop ramming IE down everyone's throat? They could have just used Linux. There is precedent here.

I don't get the hate. Epic gives games away every week--games Steam still charges for. Epic charges less to developers and allows them to keep more of their hard-earned money. Epic pays developers for these exclusives--and it's not a monopoly. Developers are free to turn them down. Comparing Epic to Apple, which does not allow alternative stores at all on their devices seems ludicrous to me. You have options. You don't want any games unless developer's take it in the ass just so you can have all your games on one store app? Then wait for it to come out on Steam in a year.

Oh, no! Epic will no longer be able to improve the #1 game engine on the Apple platform! Who exactly is Apple punishing here?

It's simple, it's late 90's and I liked it. The devs have been pretty active on Steam Discussion group the last few days, seem like great people. Feedback has been positive too.
Similar to Afraid of the Dark?

They describe it as Thief with guns. thiefwithguns.com will direct you to the steam page.

Lots of things in this bundle I've never heard of--but more than enough titles that I have heard of and would love to try out. It's amazing value. Going to try some of these out this weekend.

Update: https://www.anandtech.com/show/15839/electromigration-amd-ryzen-current-boosting-wont-kill-your-cpu

This. That article was written by Dr. Ian Cutress, who is well equipped to discuss this "issue". He says, "The peak voltage, which matters a lot for electromigration, only moves from 1.41 volts to 1.42 volts." This is a non-story. You'll be fine.

Anyone tried Beautiful Desolation? Looks good but I haven't seen any reviews yet. Haven't bought anything on GOG in awhile, but their new 30-day refund policy combined with their no-DRM policy makes me want to start using them again.

Well, they'd be crazy to release it. Why release it when you can make millions selling things that don't even have to exist? It's the promise of a ship or a pet or outfit or whatever. That's where the money is.
