Interesting that there's no comment on Weta's work. Or Gollum. Or any mention of LOTR. I know the article focusses on hollywood, but in the context that Hollywood = 'the movie industry'

Half Life 2 has this facility - both the subtitles and audio/directional cues - and when I first read of it I thought "What an excellent idea". It's good to see that the modding community has the tools (game editors) and the desire to improve gameplay for all players. I wonder how many times this idea has been brought up in developer/publisher meetings and been shot down as 'incidental', 'an unjustifiable spend' etc etc etc.

Me...... cynical?

SS2 has been begging for a sequel since it came out (it being the scariest - most intelligent RPG/FPS ever). I'm really looking forward to this, and the references to past classics like bioforge, deus ex and even ultima have got me slobbering like a teenage fanboy. I'm chuffed to bits that the controversy over who owned what licence-wise (EA or Irrational) hasn't killed off this property - and that it will live on - albeit in spirit. I recently had to curtail my involvement with an SS2 style mod for Doom 3 called Sapphire Scar ('cos I just couldn't find the time)but I know a lot of people will be shocked, surprised and amazed that Bioshock is coming. Bring it on.

I was really looking forward to the next swat game...One would have thought that now would be a good time to release an updated version, as I think there is still room for this franchise, it's quite different from Raven Shield (and other squad based fps's). Looks like developer/publisher differences have killed it though. Is it just me....or is the xbox the kiss of death for established pc franchises, *cough* deus exbox *cough*.

Feel free to correct this post(and if this topic is already covered then - soz) but, after playing the demo - and looking at screenshots from way back, could it possibly be the case that since the Xbox deal was signed, the game has had to be graphically scaled down? The character models, textures etc in the early screenshots were way more detailed than is evident now. And according to what I understand, both versions will be visually identical. The PC is capable of so much more, shame eh?

If this is the price we pay for commercial stability, then it's a high one.

Just checked the last coupla pages, and Yakumo brought it up then "282 - crap what happened" still, any other comments?

Waving goodbye to HL2..at least in the near future. I've heard that the Beta leak is legit, which is more bad news for everyone. Bummer.

I just pray the dope behind all this is a hardcore gamer who MIGHT just realise the cost of his 'kewl'(not) stunt.

On a general note, Max Payne IS the guy from the first game, (who I think is the writer Sam Lake, and was the basis for the model and 'cut scene' graphic bits)I don't know WHO this guy is...You don't take Lara Croft and make her a short blonde with a flat chest for the sequel, and so it should be with Max. He is IMO, a very distinctive character, who has been dumped in favour of this Pierce Brosnan/Clint Eastwood/whoever else wannabe.Or am I missing something? Sorry...rant over.

I must admit at being disappointed, I played the version on PCZone's coverdisk. Graphically the engine is trying (I think) to look 'drawn'...or something. I was not convinced with early screenshots, and my fears have been well based. No Lawmaster? (the bike) - unforgivable. AI - very poor. The ragdoll stuff is quite good, and the choice of ammo gives a bit of variety, but overall not on my wishlist.

I've been coming to Blues for about a year, and when I read of your loss I showed the site to my wife. We had tears in our eyes. We have both lost parents, and both feel for you now, man. This is what the internet should be all about, sharing the human experience - the bad and the good. Whatever you believe in, may you find comfort.
