There's (there is) nothing wrong with the usage of "there's" in "There's (there is) Two Sides to Every Xbox Live Banning".

It's a beautiful day in southeastern Wyoming. We've had 12" of wet sloppy snow over the last two days.

I finally got it to work (Firefox evidently isn't supported, or at least 2.xx) and was getting 0.256 mb/s, or 256 kbs. At that rate, it would take over 45 minutes to download. My cable internet here isn't the fastest, but I usually get right around 1 mb/s with Steam or Direct2Drive. Maybe there is something wrong with my IE settings or something.

That "The Sky in Motion" is a good New Year's post. Very contemplative.

Have a safe night, everyone.

I'm playing the Steam version, and I can't figure out how to play without signing in to the Social Club. You can create a shortcut to the LaunchGTAIV executable and play without starting Steam, however. One less app to be running while you are playing.

Beyond that, I've had pretty good luck with the game on my system. I used the -norestrictions command line and was able to run at high texture settings with little performance hit over medium. The only thing is that the settings don't seem to want to save. Every time I start the game there are new graphical settings. I don't know if that's because the command line screws up the autoconfigure or what.

I wonder if they slowed down the videos during the physics sequences, or the game just got slower, cuz it's pretty noticeable.
That's exactly what I was thinking, too. I'm assuming that they did slow it down, because the left side (the non PhysX side) slowed down as well in the same spot. I liked the effects, and it's cool that you get the bump if you have the right video card. I just don't know that it was that groundbreaking. It looks mostly like they just added some flags and plastic sheeting to shoot, if you have a gun which you don't through most of the game.

There is a control panel applet with the Physx system software download from Nvidia that allows you to choose either the GPU based accelerator or the actual standalone card. I downloaded the Physx system software from Nvidia earlier, but it doesn't recognize my 8800GTS as having an accelerator on board. I believe that is what the new drivers next week will do, hopefully.

Here is the direct link to the software at Nvidia's site. http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_8.06.12_whql.html

That was actually pretty fun. Nothing Earth-shattering, but it seems well done none the less. It certainly will fill the void until COD4 anyway. The weapon power-ups during a fire fight is a bit odd, and I will definitely have to work on my parachuting skills. I ended up dead center in a German installation. Oops, to say the least. It reminded me of COD2.

What's interesting to me is that they go out of their way to characterize the game as "a violent combat epic" right at the start of the story. Gee, you don't think they are trying to tie a "violent video game" into a violent crime, do you?

I recently ordered a new WD SATAII drive for my system, and it's being delivered today. I had originally planned just to copy over everything on my current harddrive on to the new one and use it for the main drive, but I think in the long run to see any performance jump I should probably reformat and start fresh. It's been quite a while since I've done that, and my drive is really fragmented and for some reason defrag can't do anything about it. My question is: I know when you are doing the XP install at the very start there is a prompt to install RAID drivers and such, but since I'm just doing a single SATA drive, will Windows recognize it or do I need to do something special? I never bothered installing a floppy drive on this system, so is there any way to do it (if I need to) with a CD? I've built systems for others with SATA drives and I've had no problems so maybe this question is moot. Anyone with any experience with this can e-mail me or answer here and I'd appreciate it much. Thanks in advance.

Crossfire only? Apr 7, 2006, 03:28

Someone asked earlier, but I haven't seen it answered. Does this only work for a Cross Fire configuration, or will it work for any Cross Fire compatible x1000 line card? I have a X1800 XT card, and I installed the driver but when I go to set it up in the pre-launch options it says you can't enable both. Am I just doing something wrong? There really aren't any directions at the ATI download page...

D'oh... went to the Oblivion Forums and found the answer right after I posted. You just enable AA in your Catalyst Control Center to whatever level you want.

That link made me think of the episode of The Simpsons with the the two area codes when members of New Springfield dam the river and the people of Olde Springfield find gold in the riverbed. Kent Brockman is reporting about it on the evening news and thanks the residents of New Springfield for allowing the people of Olde Springfield to take "golden showers". The funniest part is that you hear the off camera people laughing, and Brockman can't figure out why.

Does anyone know if the 360 will also support USB mice and keyboards? I had been leaning towards the Microsquish machine, but if it doesn't I will probably wait for the PS3. Anyone know for sure?
