Personally never played this due to consolitis and m$ boycottery. This might be the first m$ title I've played in more than a decade. I really loved Max Payne and Max Payne 2, but it still might be a bridge too far to give m$ any money.

The PC ports were self-published (and self-funded), if I'm not mistaken, so your conscience will be clear. It's definitely worth picking up at $4 if you have any interest at all.
Probably will, thanks for doubly good news.

I agree WaltC and loathe Checkpoint saves. Puke

What the hell, god damned RIAA bullshit!

Alan Wake does have some amazing music though. Time to download it from gog and burn a backup or 2.
Think you misunderstand, Steam or GOG can't take it away from you if you already own it. Well, unless I misunderstand.

They can update the game and strip music from it though.
Seriously, isn't that more if a court forces them to stop because they never had the rights to the music? In this case they did have rights, but lost due to not renewing costs. So they only lose the rights to sell more titles, with the music in question, correct? For example, I've still got the original Mafia on Steam, which is no longer for sale for the same reasons. Afaik, all the good music is still in the game.

Looks like the franchise is $40 US, so guess they are saying $4. Wonder if it will be pulled on GOG too. There doesn't seem to be any info there atm.

I'm really looking forward to trying it, but honestly not sure how the hell it will work.

All they had to do was stop charging so G'D much money for dlc if they wanted to sell more. It a thousand times better now, there's package deals. Iirc, normal price before the package deals was $250 US, sold separately. No MMOG has ever tried that bullshit before, not SOE and not even Blizzard.

Gtk, thanks Cutter and Agent-Zero. I had always intended to play it but Viking seemed more intriguing at least to my taste.

That's not an MMO is it? Bit confused since the review is on MMORPG.com.
As Cutter said no, it's second in a series of historical based Single player RPG Strategy games. It's so good they wanted to review it.

I never got to play the first one Conquistador, which everyone says is pretty good. However, everyone who's played both seem to agree Viking is an improvement in every way. They are not a series in the sense there's an order to how you play them. I jumped strait into Viking and think it's great. Very challenging, you can approach England as a conqueror or business trader/alliance maker. Your basically a group of 6 (5 crew with dispositions) who are on a quest for their clan in Denmark to travel abroad for power or alliances. There's choice and consequences at ever corner.

I did get the beta invite too. I'll probably wait for %50 off even if it takes a year. So far everything I'm seeing, the high price and trying to capitalize on our attachment to past Morrowind, is get amap from superfans first. It's hilariously ironic the biggest exploit in this involves Horse Armor! Mwahaha

FYI, I'm thinking most of those 'fans' in the video where actually actors.

I'm having a great time with MorrOblivion, Morrowind modded to work in the Oblivion engine. You can travel between the two, using the same character, by ship. You can even ride and swim there if you have the correct mods installed. One of the things I hated more than the level scaling in Oblivion was the leveling system, still used from Morrowind. MorrOblivion is perfectly compatible with Oblivion XP, so now you can get XP for killing and quests. Lighter

Yes, I was just looking at Skywind, from the same team (Morrowind in the Skyrim engine). It looks great but isn't finished yet, although they must be getting close. Take a look!

Yes, great stuff, we will be able to create a toon with Skyrim character creation, play Morrowind, then Oblivion and then Skyrim all with the same toon! Ahoy

I was trying to help create/convert mods for Morroblivion but got distracted with newer releases. Only had time to update one mod Morroblivion Save Skill Books For Later OBSE. Always hated when your forced to read Skill books instead of being able to choose the time.

Hl1 for us came later and if you had seen Unreal 1 first, HL1 was really ugly to look at actually.

Maybe, but for me the setting, story and gameplay was much better in HL with all the cool scripted sequences and NPCs! Unreal on the other hand just dragged on and on and on...

But I agree that there was something about these old games that I am missing with new titles. I've been playing HL and HL2 levels for years and just recently discovered that the Doom and Duke Nukem 3D community is still active too, like with the Duke Forces release recently. If the gameplay is great I actually don't care much how ugly it looks :)!
That's true, HL really nailed 'the story' better than any other FPS games before it. Lighter

It was available in Germany since day 0 though, just had to know how to ask the store clerk Every single pc shop that was worth anything had these (uncensored) boxes with a glaring red "do not sell to minors" "under the counter" and I am not kidding

Btw, HL1 was ok, Unreal 1 was better I will never forget that starting flyover over that that castle with particle torches and reflections, water and everything. That was one of the defining moments for me, and everyone that saw it (had 2 friends over back then for the first go at the game) got sucked in and stuck to pc gaming ever since. Hl1 for us came later and if you had seen Unreal 1 first, HL1 was really ugly to look at actually.
Your making me swoon, for the good ole days (16 whole years ago ). You forgot one giant signification moment, first time we walked outside, after being stuck inside and underground for years before. Lighter

Funny I was just posting this in Steam HL forums about why Unreal and Duke Nukem 3D were better than HL and HL 2, because of Coop. I've been having a blast playing Black Mesa and just about to finish HL 2, atm. Highfive
