I have played the game, and it is very annoying that the M82 ( my favorite ) is limted to 650 m. It can easily shoot over 2 km's.. why 650 m limit? Being able to kill from over 1 km away is what set the original apart in the first place!!!

But Ian Currie was the man behind the entire series. Its all a moot point though, i bet Chris's design wasnt even passed to the new developers since the new design is pure real time which will alienate all the fans of the series. And i am sure Chris would not have designed that.

Funny that Sf would break soo much from the original idea to try to gain extra market... but the fans of the original series most likely wont want to have anything to do with this one.

Thats suits for ya..

The ENTIRE JA2 team was sacked by strategy first.

No one on the team will be working on the new game, so, they might as well call the game something else, it will have nothing to do with the original classics.

Saying Alpha Centauri is the highest rated game in the history of PC Gamer, DEFINATELY isnt saying much. PC Gamer reviewers dont always play the games they review.. and as such, their reviews are meaningless, IMO anyways.

That being said, Sid Meier is definately one of the gaming gods and the original pirates was a great game, not the best ever, but tons of fun!!!

All i can say is Doom 3 is a HUGE disappointment. Its not a game... its not even a good showcase for what the engine is capable of doing. Any engine can look good... IN THE DARK!

Any game magazine or site that gives this POS a 'Game of the year' award should get out of the business.

This was such a HUGE let down. I hope the sales are high so i dont feel like the only chump who actually bought this crap.

Far cry was substantially better and i assume anyways, that HL2 will kill them both. Course, i guess HL2 will be game of the year for 2005!!

I certainly hope they are not releasing the entire source code to the entire game?!?!? That would certainly kill any new JA game coming out!

They lay off the team that created it, even the guy who INVENTED it, then they get other people to develop a new 'version' of the game.

Hmm.. wonder if it will be any good??

So, it is a fact that ATI paid a large sum of cash to Valve to be a 'launch' partner for the game.

My question is... did nvidia pay an even LARGER amount of cash to Valve to delay the game until nvidia could put out some hardware that actually was able to play the game?

wow, what a huge delay... i bet games using the ripped off code will appear on the market before HL2 does!!

So, do you think that Valve will release a demo level of what the engine can do so we can just wander around and be mesmerized?? Kinda like that level they had a few months ago with the giant "plinko" game? Might have to replace the keyboard though, with all the drool collecting in it...

BTW, did the monster's head look like a giant 'dick' or what? Big bulbous head that even had 2 round "claws" dangling underneath it.

I think their artists should be given some R&R time pretty soon.
