It said Doom at the start and again at end but it sure didn't look like it in the middle!

If it is truly streaming the game wouldn't that mean it is running on your gaming PC and just relaying the video and controls much like Steam Streaming works. If that's the case why would it matter what DX version the game is using?
Because they have probably written DX9 level proxies so they can stream what's being sent to the DX framework to their own device on the network? Maybe it's not so simple/supported for later versions?

Looking at the videos I don't see too much different to what the last couple of releases were. One I watched sent me to sleep as the commentary waffled on a lot about dodging off of walls as if that was the only way to work your way through a level. I don't really get the feeling that the community is driving the design.

Why did later versions of UT insist on having weapon placement points indicated with ugly graphical elements?

UT is from a bygone era and should be left as such.

Not for me but another great Kickstarter video! Having a number of titles crowd funded leads to questions about long term viability. If I were to even consider backing it it'd likely be for the lowest amount possible. All previous pledges were for [considerably] more than a retail prices with nostalgia being the main reason for doing so. If it's "just" another game then I'd question my motives a lot more.

Maybe if ROTT is successful enough Gearbox will let them do Duke 3D.
ROTT is officially licensed and is nothing to do with Gearbox so I don't imagine that any success will have a bearing on D3D reloaded.

I couldn't get into ROTT originally but this looks very good.

LucasArts hasn't been relevant for years.

The tool kit isn't for me as I never bothered to buy the game. It does seem odd to release it so long after the noise has died down - no-one talks positively about Rage (didn't much on release either)!

I know I don't fit the majority but I hate episodic gaming and Valve have been without doubt the worst (big sell, poor delivery). I never bothered to purchase EP1/2 as I foolishly thought I'd pick them all up and play it as one long game. HL2 is too long ago for me to even care.

Jazz was his last great game The last great Unreal was the definitive UT and didn't Digital Extremes do a large part of that

I hope Apple releases one and pushes other companies towards using higher quality panels. I think their usage of high quality panels in the recent iPhones and iPads has help push the mobile industry in the right direction.
So you think that a TV with marketing bullshit like "retina display" will be any different than the afore mentioned HD moniker? The question here is the lack of a clear and concise statement about how good something is.

The only example I can think where this is done as best it could be is cars. You buy one on engine capacity, number of cylinders and fuel type. To give you some form of comparison manufacturers provide max speed and torque values together fuel consumption figures across a number of levels.

Sadly a PC is a collection of bits that work with each other. Throw in the fastest graphics card available in a machine without the best CPU and you'll probably not get the maximum out of the card. Upgrade the RAM when you don't need to and it'll make no difference. Obviously if you're constantly running out of physical memory then the PC will gain overall performance with more but it will not be shown as quicker in a rating like the Windows performance index.

CPU and GPU branding is the worst given they're the primary items that make noticeable differences in performance. For each you really need to have a multi-game benchmark mapped to a consistent result scale. The price point between models is simply too small as there is simply too much "choice" these days.

I wouldn't see any benefit in PC's being sold like consoles (fixed spec). A PC has always been more than a gaming machine and whilst their place has been eroded by consoles, phones, tablets and anything else that provides some form of interactive usage it's simply not yet possible to achieve what you can on a PC with any of the replacements.

Simply put - those who want fixed hardware configurations may as well buy a console, ignore PC gaming and not worry about the issue. Those who want better marketing in terms of labelling, performance indicators and pricing may as well give up and buy a console 'cause it isn't going to happen anytime soon

Bioshock cover - Stupid reason.

They could have done a reversible sleeve so fans could have had a 'proper' cover and the thick b'stards who don't know what Bioshock is [cause they've been hiding under a large rock] can take the dull one.

Hero-U plays like a classic RPG, with turn-based tactical combat and exploration of the environment on top-down, 2D maps. There are traps, obstacles, and enemies for you to overcome as you explore the school and the ancient catacombs beneath it. Key scenes feature beautiful painted backdrops to let you see from Shawn's perspective.

From the Kickstarter page, seems pretty obvious to me what they're saying!

Certainly not quite what most will be expecting I'm sure.

So in 3 years [more or less] they've only managed to get 30% done... Wasn't AVS1 cut short with the remaining assets going into AVS2? The AVS2 domain name (linked from their own announcement post) seems to have expired so I guess the cancellation is a done deal.

Guess the market has been tougher than they had planned.

Hopefully a replicate remake of the classic doom.
Classic Doom 3 was pretty good so no need to remake again.

Sad but true.

However, one thing that that was perhaps 'overlooked' -> "Press Space" would surely be "Press A" (or equivalent console button).
