haha, it makes sense that this movie would be quicktime format. I associate AOL users, quicktime, Mac users, and players of the sims into one giant group (the same group that clicks on unknown attachments btw).
uh...the population's not getting dumber, it's just that more of the dumb people that used to stare at walls/tv are now playing video games as well. So the video game population is getting dumber, yes.
I hope PC gaming doesn't get any easier than it is now. I don't want the dummies moving into our scene. Thank god for microsoft and their bugs/ dx9 / video drivers /sound drivers, and all the frustration producing problems which keep the dummies away! Back in the MSDOS days I bet the average IQ of a PC gamer was pretty high compared to the general population....config.sys anyone?
Crom doesn't care about your 9700pro and pixel shaders 1.1. He will favor no one mortal's setup over the other's in game combat.....up on his mountain and stuff.
UT2K3, and especially unreal2 looked worse than halo, art direction wise. Sure it had a million more polygons, but if they aren't being used to create something interesting......
I too am dissapointed though. What was so difficult about porting the rendering engine from the xbox? The video card (although proprietary) is not radically different from what we have today. I'm not saying that it should have been easy...for all I know there were several factors for which I'm unaware of which made it difficult. On the surface however this appears unacceptable.
You specifically mentioned 'western' developers and reliance on scripted events. Usually you name a particular region to contrast it with another. So we are to assume then that there are non-western games that do not rely on scripted events? What games are you referring to? If they are in a similair genre (action/first person) I'll go buy them.
