Strange. AB's artists didn't just copy and paste, they went through the trouble of remaking those characters in their own style. Were they that lazy that they couldn't come up with their own equally ridiculous characters? C'mon, a tree holding a naked elf-like girl?

I can't believe people play these games.

Devs should stop with the rediculous rootkit DRM schemes and stick to cd keys. CD keys are enough to prevent the casual and much more massive sharing between non-geeks while remainging non-intrusive.
There's really nothing you can do at the moment to stop the technologically adept people from pirating. Already, there is a spore torrent on piratebay that has ~21,000 people downloading it. A complete failure for securom.

Hilarious, indeed. Hall looks like hes twice as tall as willits. And what a depressing environment at id -- grey, plain, dark cubicles. They need to go back to the beach house: http://romero.smugmug.com/gallery/480_BdMqY#104398016_u7Pab

I never understand why nvidia and ati market support for API versions to consumers. "If you don't buy one of our video cards every single year, you won't be able to experience a significant decrease in performance for an unnoticable increase in image quality!"

The only people who should care that much about API versions are the programmers who write code with them.

id does all that for quakecon and doesn't charge a thing. They pay for it out of their own pockets and with sponsors. Considering how much money WOW rakes in, I think Blizzard should do the same

Has a video of carmack's keynote been posted anywhere yet? Every year it fails to materialize until about a month later. Makes me a sad panda.

Only acceptable if they give away the games for free.

Agreed, but you know damn well developers won't do that. They will put ads in their games as well as charge $50 for it. Then they'll lie to the gaming community by blaming it on the increased cost of making games.

"It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera," he said. The alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking, Peckman said earlier this month.

I knew it! They're trying to get us while we're sleeping.

screw creative. after what happend with the guy who modded their drivers to actually unlock stuff on there so it was actually compatible with vista. last time I ever buy from such a underhanded company.

I stopped buying from creative after they threatened id software back in 2004 over Doom 3's shadowing technique. Come to think of it I never bought any of their products prior to that.

Yea it's bad. The majority of the songs are boring, long, and don't go anywhere (especially tracks 8 and 9). Overall I get the impression the album was half assed. And is this supposed to be the continuation of year zero? Doesn't seem so.

I think it's pretty funny. Why are people with epilepsy using the web? It's full of flashing ads.

I have never seen another game whereby you can run client-side scripts that can spawn enemies, spawn buildings, change everyone's score, change everyone's weapons, boot the admin, and take control of the server.

MOH:AA was pretty bad. For the first couple months after the game came was released, all the single player cheat codes worked in multiplayer. The developers also never disabled the "pushmenu lodtool" console command that spawns objects in the map, causing the server to crash.

This is exactly why game developers quit posting .plans years ago. Nothing good comes out of it.

I've tried to uninstall them, but my PC hangs forever at "Configuring updates..." when I restart and they still end up being installed. I did a system restore as well, but the same configuring updates thing happens when I install the other updates again.

It turns out that the problematic update doesn't get installed if you use automatic updates, not Windows update.

"For systems set to download and install updates automatically, the update will not install even if it has already downloaded, so most people will not be affected by this"

Unfortunately for me, it did install. And it completely screwed up all the other updates on that day as well. I have to reinstall Vista because of it, which I'm not looking forward to.

nvidia doesn't release drivers for laptops. You have to get them from whoever made your laptop. This is from the faq on nvidia's site:

NVIDIA provides driver updates to our Notebook and Laptop computer partners. The driver updates are then packaged and distributed by the partners, often with custom power management and other features and settings specific to that platform. NVIDIA does not control the schedule the various notebook and laptop providers use to release new drivers for their products.

NVIDIA is NOT allowed to directly distribute drivers for the vast majority of Notebook and Laptop computers.

The only way to get updates for NVIDIA laptop or notebook graphics cards is though the notebook provider.

I can't wait until the AEFx (Alaskan Eskimo Football Experience) game comes out, along with the 12-week promotional dog-sled tour to igloo villages.
