We at Valve have always thought of ourselves as being part of a community, and I can't imagine a better group of people to help us take care of these problems than this community.

Hopefully he isn't talking about the same community that he flammed on the half-life forum a couple weeks ago. Oh yeah, I wouldn't be suprised if the "outlook bug" was actually a trojan cleverly disguised as a an e-mail attatchment promising to make him lose 50 pounds in 10 days that gabe downloaded.

Man, the people at valve are beyond dumb. Why would they use the same computers for development and internet access? That was just an accident/hacking waiting to happen. I'm betting that it was a weak internet connection password or a lack of patching that enabled the person to snatch the source.

HL2 was looking pretty grim considering the whole steam garbage, but now it's just plain-old fux0r3d. And if Doom3 is released before HL2, everyone at valve is going to be looking for a new job.

My box decided to crash everytime I opened IE today. This never happened before. I would have run NAV, but im too impatient to wait the hour it takes to scan my HDD. System restore did the trick, tho.

Note: I can't live without system restore. Saved my ass way too many times.

There really aren't any federal laws against irritating noises, such as a dog's bark. Most states have their own laws on that matter, but for physically dangerous noises, there are numerous, strict laws that are regulated by the Gov.

My stance on the volcano article:
Ok, the article mentions that the yellowstone supervolcano erupts every 600,000 years and that when it erupts, it's devastation is the equivalent of a nuclear winter's.

The person who wrote this article must know nothing about volcanos, considering the fact that if this "supervolcano" does erupt every 600,000 years and every time the supervolcano erupts, it wipes out most of the life on earth, then anything more complex than a micro-organism wouldn't exist today. Humans, animals, and bugs are forms of life that have evolved over MILLIONS of years. Life can't evolve back into a human the second it is wiped out. Based on basic principles of evolution, it even takes much longer than 600,000 years. Therefore, one of (or both of) the author's statements above are incorrect and our cruddy lives will resume as normal.

Unless this is the second coming of Christ and god decides to kill us all.

I'll stop downloading music the day that the average music CD costs a maximum $5 to buy. Record labels and artists combined usually make 1,500% profit from every CD. I've seen from numerous sources that it costs less than $1 to manufacture and burn 1 cd. They still sell for 15-20 bucks even after last year's lawsuit about how the music industry is ripping everyone off with overpriced cd's. Hell, tours alone bring in millions for most artists. If anything, the RIAA and record labels are stealing from the consumer.

I strongly recommend that people don't use these "play for money" sites because there are tons of cheats/exploits for the games that they use, even with punkbuster. Not to mention that you lose money if you quit the game in the middle of a match. I even thought about using these some of the cheats I have for Americas Army and RTCW with these places, just to see how much money I can get before they get suspicious, but I'm not that kind of person

Try deleting your cookies and temporary internet files and see what happens when you visit the site again. The 24 hour wait for a new ad period is controlled locally by a cookie.

Edit: As long as there aren't any ads that utilize ActiveX, I will be happy as a clam. I hate those things. They run all over your screen and are loud as hell. Not to mention you have to search for the damn "close ad" button which is usually very small and blended in with the ad so you can't see it.
