Today I got my first spam message over AIM. I can only imagine that this is going to get a helluva lot worse in the coming weeks/months. 
That guy beat the game in exactly 11 minutes while getting the maximum amount of lives.

It really needs a lot more work. I am getting the feeling that the only 2 monsters in the mod are going to be klesk and the worm thingy. The story is cliche and the action is repetitive from the start. New textures, skins, story, and bots are needed. The new weapon in the demo is cheesy as hell too.

For some reason this issue over the mouse buttons reminds me of the Doom era of gaming, where everyone had to use the same keys. When quake came out, it took me about two years to switch over to the keyboard + mouse because using the arrow and ctrl keys was so damn embeded in my head. It was great not having to configure keys =)

Intel fudged up on the EE. Considering the 3.2GHz EE just barely outperformes the regular 3.2 GHz version, you have to ask why the hell it costs $500 more. I predict only about 10-20 people will buy it.

Im no 3d engine guru, but im fairly sure Carmack means that the engine's renderer is limited to 60 fps, not the video card (thus animations and such can only go up to 60 frames for every second). Video cards will render the engine's output as many times as it can, but there will be only 60 new frames (max) needed to be rendered each second. That is what I made out of the article, anyhoo.
Howcome almost every game that was supposed to come out quarter 3/4 this year is being delayed? Lets get a full list going. I'll start by naming a few: Doom 3, Half-Life 2, soldner, Rainbow Six 3, Far Cry, X2.

I have a Radeon 7500 PCI card (I know, PCI is fairly slow compared to AGP, but I didn't know Dell was going to screw me over with a SFF AGP slot when I bought my box) and with the 3.7 drivers I would get around 35 fps with quake 3. With the 3.8 drivers, I am getting 60+ fps on the same settings! I never had problems with the 3.7 drivers either.
why would id limit Doom3 to 60 fps? I know that the brain cant distinguish the difference between any movement above 25-30 fps, but why stop at 60? Is it some magical number that id likes? Hopefully this option can be removed for benchmarking purposes.
I hate bugs with a passion...all bugs. I go out of my way to squish every bug I see, especially spiders and ants. If I come across those pesky spider eggs, I'll light the white web stuff surrounding the eggs on fire and then repeatedly jab the crap out of them with a stick. And for ants, I usually trace them back to their ant hill and then smother it, trapping them inside.

The gaming community DESERVES To be flamed every once in a while. Its fanatacism, mob-behavior, and habit of biting the hands that feed it are a constant source of frustration for those of us that make games for a living.

There are a whole bunch of cheats used with steam. Opengl based exploits usually work for a long time (such as translucent textures, bright models, etc) since steam cant control what things your video card doesn't support. There are a few aimbots out there that work with steam, but like always, not for very long (usually a week or two).
