It's a cool game no doubt. I found it fun to try and learn how to start the engine up from a totally off state, turn on all the switches and take off etc. Now if only I could figure out how to land the damn thing! I crash hard every time.

My fondest flight sim memories of all time however are JetFighter 2, which came bundled with my AT&T 486/66. Fun fun fun and easy to fly. I wish it had had a better campaign mode and some wingman interaction stuff.

Civ is like evercrack for people like me who hate everyone online. BUT, I can't find for the life of me the system requirements for this game. I'm hoping and praying that my Athlon 1.4ish gig and Radeon 9600 or whatever will be sufficient. However, Civ is probably one of the few games I'd upgrade my computer for.

Anyone remember the oooldschool game Stars!? I believe it dates to Win16. Fantastic 4x space game, very in depth. And it still runs on XP! Can't say that about too many classic games unfortunately. They were developing a sequel for win98 (Stars! Supernova) but they never found a publisher I believe oh well

Speaking as an american, cricket seems like a cool sport. I don't see why the other posters have to be so critical. Boston needs a circket team so we can get yet another world championship!

I recently bought NHL 97 for PS1 at a gamestop for 99 cents. GREAT PURCHASE! I also recentl rented NHL 2005, and I found it to be way too complex. Seems like it suffers the same problem that I hear the real NHL had, a tendency to suffer from "overcoaching" leading to less goals or satisfying plays.

I misread that one and thought that it said Carl Yastrzemski was the new CEO. It would be cool to have more than one Red Sox in the gaming biz! (See Curt Schilling)

I'm hoping USA will take over this year in Badminton. I guess that's been asian-dominated for the past eight years or so. I doubt it'll get covered though. "Do you believe in miracles?"

The founders of the United States should have made it law that no immediate family member, [Father, Mother, Brother, Sister] could be elected to ANY government position if another is or had been already

Come on, that's a little excessive. Are you saying that if your brother is on the school board in wizuma falls michigan, you shouldn't be able to be on the town council of east bumfuck, new hampshire? Granted I'm not a huge bush fan but that's a little broad. The founding fathers wouldn't have wanted this either, they would have loved to see their kids and grandkids follow on in their image, so there's no way the would have done this anyway. The real way to prevent morons from getting into office (again) is to VOTE. Even if you don't like the candidates, you really should get out and vote even if it's for someone like Nader. If everyone got out and voted, we wouldn't have all our government decisions made by the senile community of florida or the supreme court. Ok, enough politics, I'm sure everyone else is sick of all the trolling that pops up whenever anything political comes up on a message board, too.

Plus, it let me say how I love the shotgun (for SP). BEST GUN EVAR.

Personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by the shotty in D3. The spread on it is even worse than the SSG in Doom 2, so you really need to be like two feet away from anything to get a one-shot kill. I suppose the firing pattern is more realistic but I miss the days of easily-killed zombies. Either way the weapons seem to be pretty nicely balanced, in that you definitely want to use the machine gun/chain gun from a distance (and thank god the machine gun doesn't kick up like in Q2!) and the shotty when you're good and close. The plasma (the last weapon I've gotten) seems to be pretty happy either close or far. Can't wait to pick up the other weapons, and to see what kind of mod weapons come out later! (lightsaber anyone?)

I know the Descent Collection (1 and 2 and all their associated expansion packs for $20 - great deal) did that - it had a commercial for Starfleet Academy before installing, really annoying, and worst of all, it crashes on XP preventing sucessful installation on modern computers. Are there any Descent source ports going or anything? That game was fun, but I'm pretty much unable to get it to work these days.

Its a shame that ID and the Doom 3 only supports the PC
systems that only have windows 2000 or XP on it.

Google around for information on this; you can make it work in 98 with some hex editing of the .exe aparently. Also, a linux version should be forthcoming.

Anyone else running doom 3 on an athlon 2500 and radeon 9600xt? For some reason I was expecting it to run smoother than it does for me (at low detail, and 640x480). Granted it won't be as fast as Q3 but it seems to be dipping pretty low whenever a monster comes on screen. I just bought that gfx card so maybe I'll invest in a new athlon xp chip. (I have 512 meg of system ram too)

Anyone find it at a regular best buy yet? Not at one of the midnight ones I mean? I have a $10 voucher from the rewards card thing that I'd like to use, and would love to go over after work if they'd have em in yet.

No mention of ESPN NFL 2k5?!?! Horrible oversight. I'm pissed, I clinched the division with my Patriots, and simulated the end of the season when who should break his hip but my star running back, Corey Dillon? Now he's out unless we make the superbowl, which will be difficult to say the least without the dil-man.
