What makes me laugh is that you can do pretty much all the dx10 "extras" in OpenGL on standard XP.

I don't think this is related to the Bohemia Interative game. Silly to choose such a similar name.

What's wrong with those shots?

Anyway it's gameplay that counts

This is an amazing game (if you're into WW2 shooters).

It does have offline bots for you to practice on (recommended before you dive into multiplayer).

It IS a hard game, but practice does pay off.

I highly recommend it.

It's a realistic game - with iron sights, hence having to use am additional key to fire.

I played this game for a awhile, it was really good fun since it forces players to work together and I made quite a few friends through that.

Unfortunatly it sucked too much of my time and had to give it up

God that Walkman ad is annoying...Do they really think I'll want to buy one of their walkman's after they've annoyed me with their stupid pop-up ads.

Do you know how many times I have heard that PC games are dying breed?

I remember in the days of the original Doom that 'they' were saying PC games were on the way out.

They are still here for one simple reason: Anyone and their dog can develop for the PC since all you need is a PC, programming tools, dev tools and some talent. Would probably cost less than 2000 for all that for each developer (ok, not the talent - but you get my drift).

Compare that to trying to develop for the PS2 or Xbox and you soon realise that PC games are staying put...

which is a good thing surely?

Plus you can't pirate MMO's

As a proffesional programmer, I must say that this is quite possibly the most badly written piece of software I have ever seen a company release who is as high profile as Valve. The programmers who wrote it have no clue about user interface design, and the lack of information given to the user is quite insulting. On top of that i have been trying to play counter-strike for the last 4 hours and it has crashed 3 times before it even loads counter-strike up.

So what's the solution? I guess we will have to wait for valve to sort their shit out and fix the damn thing. Either that or wait for the server load to go down a bit - (it's currently taking 10 minutes for steam to even show me the login screen - and then it sais that the servers are currently down).

Seriously though - I'm no artist/designer - but i have created better user interfaces for software only i would use..and it took me a day.

I wouldn't be so annoyed if I didn't play CS and Day of Defeat so much - but i do play those games a least once a day and now i will have to spend my saturday outside in the sun or some shit like that >:(

Anyone know if developers who want to use the steam service to distribute their games have to pay Valve $$$?

Not that I would mind giving Valve more money...
