The thing that annoys me the most about nvidia's beta drivers is that they always say "read the release notes for more information" but they don't have release notes available.

I'd just create a secondary partition and install it on there. As for Vista, it's come a long way in drivers and isn't that far behind XP anymore for most stuff.

Wow maybe I shouldn't have sent my 2600 xt back for refund when I saw how awful it's performance was and realized that I had found benchmarks that people used specific software in order to skew it into looking like a good part?

Oh wait most of this is crossfire improvements, nevermind.

Quite possibly. I knew I remember reading a PC Gamer a long time ago and about how Creative had bought one of the other major sound card manufacturers.

I just looked on Turtle Beach's site and found out they have a 6.1 card for $32. I may just have to get one if I can find it in a local store.

Turtle Beach makes great products, and they're alive and well. As far as I know, they were never bought by Creative. Where did you get that, exactly?

Huh. I could have sworn i saw somethign about that years and years ago. Maybe I was mistaking it for when Creative bought one of the chip manufacturers that TB used and then cut the supplies to Turtle Beach. A class act of a manuever, I might add. </sarcasm>

Cutedge: Just because you never had problems, means nothing as to if the game is hardware or software acellerated. AFAIK, WoW is directsound, and was thus software accelerated in Vista, since vista removed any hardware support for directsound, and now only emulates it.

My follow up post said that i did have problems. In fact, if I try to use software reverb every piece of sound and music that comes out of my speakers sounds like it's 8-bit. It's terrible. I had to reboot my machine to get my sound to work right, as it started to fuck up my windows soudns as well. Without reverb, the sound still isn't as good as it was pre-patch. It doesn't cut sounds and sometimes misses other sounds.

The only reason I have this SB Audigy in my system is so I had two sound cards, as I have one onboard and needed it to be seperate for voip only vent/ts.

I take it back, I just loaded up wow and apparently havent' played since they launched 2.2. Yeah, my music is totally fucked

Thats why you shouldn't buy creative, learn to get real soundcards scrubbers.

What other brand of soundcards are there anyway? Doesn't Creative just buy up anything that would compete and then shut them down (ie, turtle beach)?

I have Vista and a soundblaster and never had problems before the update, so I dunno why they did it. Then again, it's working for me after the update.

I saw this coming, although I figured they would have announced it closer to the release date than now.

Probably for the best. More polish and development is a good idea since they have a lot of really amazing ideas that are going to be the game.

Funny, I've never had a problem with it. Does it run as well as XP? I'm sure that it's not, part of the reason I still have Vista is because I can't get XP to install on this new machine (it blue screens in the INSTALLER), but I wouldn't say that I have a problem with Vista even bugging me about things or having serious issues.

If they really want me (and others) to come try it again, they should give us a 7 day pass or something. I'd be willing to try it again, it had potential, but i'm not going to pay $15 just to see if they've implemented stuff that they said was in the launch (and wasn't).

I bought a lifetime sub for this game and I dunno. I haven't played it in a few weeks. I need to get my character past the upper 20s and into the 30s so I can do all the solo stuff they added in the Evendim update.
