Yeah the part where they say that the Mac's Finder is better than Windows Explorer is pretty questionable, judging that even most of my Mac zealot friends will agree that Finder is ok at best.

They're using Limelight?

Doesn't suprise me too much, as a content delivery network it's pretty good.

SC DA didn't have Starforge, you're thinking of Chaos Theory.

probably significant résumé pieces to the developers, who need to continually find new gigs in a competitive marketplace.

Not having your name in the game's credits wouldn't make it so you couldn't list working on the game in your resume. I can see a little bit of both sides of this, although personally I'd probably credit anyone who spent any significant amount of time working on the game.

Wait, Ace Online is coming to US, again?

This game was known as Space Cowboy until they pulled the license from gPotato. It then was launched in Europe as Flysis until they found out someone already had the name. Now it's Air Rivals or some such.

Before reading the summary and thinking that Levine is an asshole, I'd read the actual article because it didn't seem like it said "a BioShock flop would have crippled the first-person shooter genre", but more that a BioShock flop would have made it harder to sell a shooter that was more of an exploration and adventure game, a la Deus Ex and System Shock 2.

I guess my question is.. why do they keep pumping more and more work into Mythos

From all accounts, Mythos has had a very small development team. For a long time, it was just one guy. It's actually pretty surprising how polished it is, even in beta, in comparison to HGL.

So much for patch 2 coming out soon. A shame, it looked like they were going to make the game pretty alright, although I expected that I'll be lyched for saying that

The difference is that pirates can actually play games before they buy them.

Why do people think they have this right? If they don't release a demo and you don't know if you really want it, don't get it. That doesn't give people a right to pirate it. It's like how people were saying they weren't going to buy Bioshock because of the FOV thing. It's stupid.

Buy it or don't buy it. Don't play it if you haven't paid for it. How is this hard? Why do people insist on defending piracy like they have some sort of right to do it?

I really think it's funny that every time someone says this, people come and and rag on the person saying it. No no everything is fine. This company is just crazy.

Like all the others.

If crysis was downloaded 15 million times, which I *could* imagine, of course it doesn't mean 15 million more in sales, but the excuse of "oh well i wasn't going to buy it" doesn't make you any less of a douchebag.

They also want to make it clear if they had been aware of this, they would not have allowed the game to be publically released as such.

Ouch.

A shame since it's likely that only an employee or two were responsible, but I would honestly expect this to end in Majestic folding as a company.

But because you have proven your a idiot console player you never thought that PC players are a more sophisticated bunch and think that CoD4 is a joke of a FPS game compared to other PC FPS's. Because of this the sales of the game was piss poor on PC.

I bought it for the PC. I think PC is the better platform for FPS games. I'm just saying that IW has come out and said that they noticed a very startling trend regarding people trying to pirate it on the PC. That's their words and could explain why they really don't care about the PC audience.

I am curious as to what other games PC players are playing though, besides TF2. I mean, UT3 was a joke and besides the other two, what major releases even came out last fall?

No, they don't give a rats ass and don't act like they do.

Uh, I thought that was pretty apparent when they found and put out stats that most people who played it on the PC pirated the game, combined with the fact that it sold 4 million on one console, 3 million on the other, and the PC version didn't even register on the sales charts.

It's certainly more practical than trusting other people's opinions and spending $50 on a game I may not even like.

What gives you the right to take a copy and then not buy it? If you think that playing a game for some amount of time that is pirated and then not buying it is simply trying it, then I ask: at what point does it go from a trial to a case of piracy? An hour? Two hours? Four? 25% of game completion? If you pirate something and don't beat it, is it still piracy?

If you do buy your games and do use piracy as a tool for meriting purchases, than kudos I guess. All I know is just about everyone uses that excuse and I think fairly few actually bother to go out and buy it.

You know, if you are upset enough to not buy the game because of no demo, that's fine. Don't use the excuse "oh i'll just bittorrent it!" though. That's complete and utter bullshit. Either play and pay for it or don't.
