I don't have VR so can't get into specifics, but I've read where other people have toggled the "lock to horizon" setting to avoid what you're talking about.

Except his direct examples are very narrow in scope or flat out wrong.

The games saves when missions are completed in addition to station docking.

Sure you go from A to B in this game, but it's an open world sandbox. That's pretty unavoidable. There's several star systems in the game and around 20 stations in each star system so it's not like you're going to the exact same locations all the time.

Yes, there is grind, but it's more than going from level 1 to level 2. There is a wide array of weapon choices with each have their own strengths of weaknesses and allow you to tailor your ship to your play style. The only weapon type with limited ammo is the one he mentions. All others have unlimited with recharge or heat cool downs.

New ships are more than cosmetic and slot upgrades. How you play with a corvette is drastically different than how you play with a dreadnought.

The best description I can give of this game is that it borrows heavily from Sid Meir's Pirates design, adds a sci-fi theme and adds a story/quest line in addition to the sandbox world.

By default the mouse sensitivity for un-aimed looking and iron site aiming was drastically different. I had to go in and make them even and that helped some, but like you say it still felt like it needed raw input.

I also would have preferred the starter edition, but unfortunately they did not offer that version until several months after release. I tend to use the same operators most of the time anyway and don't have an urgent desire to unlock new ones.

Game has been 14.99 a few times in the past few months. The full retail pricing of this stuff is out of control.

Something to know about this title in particular is the levels of pay versus grind. The $15 version you mention comes at the price of it taking more in-game currency to unlock new things. The normal edition is a balance of grind and up-front pay. These season passes give you a premium currency where you are given the new content without having to grind at all.

My sequel guess was right. Now let's see if my other predictions ring true: playing as Marston's son, and the game being 7 Samurai/Magnificent 7 inspired.

RDR made a point of stating that it was set in the dying age of the old west. I can't see how they can make a sequel and still claim it as old west. GTA has very little character carry-over. Red Dead Redemption isn't a continuation of Red Dead Revolver. I think it's more likely this will be a new story line and probably set in a new location.

It's been on Steam a long time. I remember it being in past sales plus you can see that the total number of reviews and recent number of reviews are not equal.

You could have created your own faction and taken over the entire realm, but it's a sandbox so nobody is going to ask/quest you to do that.

No, you login to Steam's Web API which then grants permission to GOG a list of your owned titles.

Seeing all the problems games have today, it makes me wonder how they were able to pull it off for consoles prior to the ability to patch without having to release several revision copies or some shit.

Proper QA Testing and the publisher knowing that if it isn't released right the first time the entire project is doomed so it's worth spending the extra time and money to do it properly.

They dropped the ball in just not being smart about it. Sure a wooden staff needs to have degradation and eventually break, but a crowbar should be pretty safe in not having to do anything to it. You balance out the mechanic by having slower/less weapon control on the heavier/more durable weapons.

I'm talking about the pitch video. People are suggesting that FPS was a major departure because it wasn't shown in the video and I was just pointing out that neither was multi-crew or planetside. Plus a manned turret is very different to the multicrew gameplay that's being developed now.

You just can't be wrong can you? He said he's been following it since the initial video, but whatever.

As for my weigh in on the situation as a whole. I don't mind the feature creep and expanded scope, but I do have a problem with the way it's been managed and have serious concerns that the money will run out before we even get something resembling the originally pitched game.

I was skeptical about them getting the persistent universe aspect working as pitched when I backed the game, but didn't really care because as long as I got my wing commander like Squadron 42 then the $60 I pledged would be well worth it.

Look at the original pitch - there's no mention of... multi-crew ships...

For someone who spends most of his time correcting other people about the original Kickstarter you did get this part wrong. I'm a golden ticket holder and a day 1 backer. It was said from Day 1 that the Constellation (Rear Admiral Package) "...is a multi-person craft that includes a turret and a smaller fighter that can be manned by your friends!". I didn't buy that package myself, but my friend did so I recall very clearly that it was defined on day 1 as that's the whole reason he bought it.

Maybe they should focus on fixing listen servers which they apparently broke with the switch from Gamespy to Steam. A friend finally bought me Arma 3 so we could play coop. And we still haven't played it because we can't see or connect to each others game. We've opened up all the ports and still nothing. Wasted money.

It doesn't change the fact they need to fix your issue, but have you tried using a dedicated server hosted on the machine of whomever was hosting the listen server? Both of you will still be able to connect to the dedicated server. In fact it should even run better as you can put the dedicated server on a CPU core that isn't really being utilized by the client ArmA.

Wait! What does this mean? "Battle alongside allies online in four-player co-op or go it alone in spectacular procedurally-generated landscapes to complete daring missions and collect powerful new weapons, armor, and arcane relics of legend."

Seems to me like the game's story mode can only be played in four-player coop and that single player is reserved for randomly generated maps that serve only to "level up" your character. That's... weird. I don't think I can get 4 friends to play this.

I suspect it means there is a single player only campaign and a separate dynamic mission mode that can be played with 1 to 4 players.

As for my example with an enemy being behind me... Your answer didn't really make sense. I know it's on a seperate axis, and that doesn't fix it. I have to look behind me, 160 degrees. I'm not an owl so I can't physically do that without letting go of my ability to shoot (the keyboard and/or mouse). Anyway, of course I know the answer to my own question.. which is turning around just isn't an option if you want to be able to shoot, so you'll have your keyboard and/or mouse to actually turn your ingame body.. but I think it defeats the purpose of VR. At least it does to me.

Quinn,
The answer you are looking for is wireless motion controllers. I haven't heard anything from Oculus, but Valve will have official controllers to be used with their equipment.

Here's a link to a story about valve's controllers:
Valve Link

Here's a link to a 3rd party working on similar controllers:
