7. Re: Fat Burger Dec 7, 2005, 09:40 WarPig

Some of the best burgers I've ever had were in various taverns and it seems like where ever I go I can pick out any rustic looking bar or tavern and get a kick-ass burger. There's a local one here, Jack-sons, who serves up my favorite teriyaki burger (hold the tomato).

Not sure if Koy Detmer and McMahon are really qbs against whom one can make a statement. Though, if you doff a few of the TDs-from-INTs (and I count Koy's int in the late 2nd), there is still a respectable score for that offense.

Wonder why philly could stop LT but not Alexander.

And Holmgren clearly called off the dogs as soon as they returned that fumble early in the third quarter. Hasselback actually wasn't looking very accurate last night either but it obviously didn't matter.

Alexander really hadn't started going yet - 18 carries for 49 yards isn't very good, although he often has stats like that in the first half before going off in the second.

Overall this obviously didn't mean the Seahawks are that good or the Eagles are that bad, it was just one of those games that gets away from a team every now and then.

The drunk naked guy running across the field?

It's 42-0 in the third quarter, plus it's freezing and snowing... he might be on his way home right now.

I don't mean that in a mean spirited way either, as a Seahawk fan I've definitely been-there-done-that.

So Batman, are the Vikings getting you excited yet? I've always liked Brad Johnson. Believe it or not I was a huge Viking fan right up until the 'Hawks were moved to the NFC. The Vikings were my team before Seattle had a team - way back in the pre-Metrodome Tarkington, Forman, Page, and Eller days.

Because I'm a gentleman, my reply to you will not be so crass because I don't remember seeing that in the trailer!

Too bad they killed his GF off early in the first movie as Franka Potente is the hot!

A little of the ol' SST would have been appreciated there my friend as I haven't seen the movie yet!

The first movie kept pissing me off too with over obvious speeding up the film to make Matt seem like a bad ass.

You'd rather Bourne look like some overpaid Hollywood actor who couldn't fight his way out of his favorite Beverly Hills hair salon? I know what you're saying, but personally I didn't mind the way they did the first one. At least they weren't doing those wire tricks where the guys fly twenty feet through the air after being hit - that's what pisses me off in a lot today's movies.

Sigh. For a sport with SO MANY FANS and with such a culture, you'd think we could come up with a system that gives us the most appealing match-ups in all four games, right?

It'd be so simple too. This year it'd be USC vs. Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and Texas vs. Penn St. in the Orange Bowl (or whatever) with the winners playing for the national title. That would be only one extra game and it'd be a huge money maker. Plus, if ND had beaten USC we'd probably see Texas vs. USC and ND vs. Penn State which still would been more than acceptable. Sure, there's always going to someone whining about being left out but I'd think you can usually make a point the the best team in the nation will always be ranked in the top 4.

The Seahawks don't play until tomorrow and they clinched their division today. Next goal, home field advantage - which they need!

This whole banning of small knives and such was stupid from the get-go. The only reason the 911 hijackers were able to get away with using box-cutters was because up until then being hijacked rarely meant anything but an inconvenience, albeit a very scary one. Which is why most people had the "let them have what they want and no one gets hurt" mentality. Hell, once the people on the last flight found out what fate was in store for them they took the terrorists out - but of course by then it was too late.

Anyway, my point is that I can't see the threat of anything, including maybe a gun, that would keep a whole plane full of people (who believe they'll die if they do nothing) from taking action - especially before the hijacker has a chance to get into the cockpit. Nailclippers? Pocket knives? Puhleeez.

I guess of all my uncles, I liked Uncle Caveman the best. We called him Uncle Caveman because he lived in a cave, and because sometimes he'd eat one of us. Later on, we found out he was a bear.

Seriously, that place is a long way from WarPig or myself. But it's closer to WarPig. He's got dibs on checking it out .....

It is very close to where I spent Thanksgiving (Vancouver), but I'm not checking it out, it might be my Uncle Caveman and I'm scared of him.

And Happy Birthday to complicity, you young whippersnapper you!

12. Re: traffic circles Dec 2, 2005, 09:32 WarPig

By god I hate those things. There's one on the street to my new place, and it's brutal.

Here, over the past couple years they've put traffic circles in a few increasingly busy intersections to replace four-way stops and I love them. The wait time to get through those intersections is far, far less. And as for the people who don't get how to get through them correctly, I'm pretty sure they were the same people who couldn't handle the four-way stops either, so we all have to deal with them no matter what.

just took a few minutes to try to do a short (<10 second) clip of a Maui sunset from the condo we were in last week.

That worked out pretty well. How many shots did it take and how much trouble was it to put together?

3. Happy Turkey Day! Nov 24, 2005, 11:33 WarPig

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. And for you folks not living in the U.S., have a great work day! (this is where I would insert an evil smiley face)

I'm driving Mom over to see my sister in Vancouver Washington and I'm hoping the roads aren't too crowded. I'm also hoping to be able to catch at least some of the late football game without being too anti-social about it. That's always one of the trickier aspects of Turkey day for me. It's only going to get worse later on as there are games on Christmas eve and Christmas day this year.

Be safe everyone!
