Sure it's a result of the hype, but it's also a result of the console market's increasing interest in the indie game scene. Expect all their indie exclusives to be $60/90/150 affairs with $60 DLC bundles that includes 3 of the 5 $25 DLC packs and lets not forget the $350 'No Man's Sky' PS4 skin!

Haven't they learned by now that they can't turn PC gaming into a closed system? How many times have they attempted to strong-arm publishers and developers into doing just that? They are just trying to find a way to make up the revenue of their failing console franchise. This isn't the way to go about it. I swear the suits over there must know about as much about gaming as my grandmother.

Cabezone wrote on Mar 2, 2016, 11:59:
The shit ending of 3 doesn't change the fact that for 99.9% of the trilogy it was telling great stories. It did suck all the wind out of me wanting to play again but I'm not much on replaying games anyway. The entire 3rd game was wrapping up the stories and it did them all incredibly well.

As someone who absolutely deplored the ending, I fairly recently completely replayed the series - loving every minute of it. I mostly did this so I could use the 'better ending' mod. I highly recommend the mod, it brings out hidden segments of the ending they didn't use and pieces them together to make a cohesive and much more interesting ending. It erases all the bullshit choices and the 'child who is god' weirdness. This, combined with mods that improve the worst aspects of the series (planet resource grinding in 2 for example), made the game feel like a very different experience and now that play-through and it's ending are stuck in my mind instead of the atrocious ending that sent me spinning into anger for weeks afterword.

I seriously hope this game is worthy of the series, a series that has told - in my mind - the greatest story of any bioware series. Even if they aren't my favorite bioware games 'individually'. I think this delay may be a good thing, and I hope to see some more of the game in the upcoming 'convention season'.

Ugh.. all those 'The Division' pre-orders. I thought people would have learned by now that pre-ordering an Ubisoft title is like paying to take someone to an 5-star restaurant on a blind date. You may have an amazing time, but your much more likely to waste a lot of money on nothing.

2. Re: Game Reviews Feb 23, 2016, 14:32 Fion

This particular review is rather glowing. He says specifically that he came to the game without any anticipation, expecting crazy copy/paste but found it a more unique experience, extremely fun to explore and no-where near the copy/paste in comparison to the previous title. Mechanics a lot of people didn't like are gone, gameplay is great, (though he says the melee weapons don't feel very impactful, at least the first one you get) and that 'capture tower X' gameplay is gone, but base attacks are not.

Frankly I wasn't to interested in this game, after all how much different could it be when they barely had a year to make it? This review didn't 180 me, but I'll definitely be looking for reviews from sources I trust instead of nope'ing out entirely like I did with FC4. I just hope there's a FoV slider (or at least an option in an .ini file) because from this video the FoV seems to be set to about 45!

News Comments > On XCOM 2 Framerate Issues
5. Re: On XCOM 2 Framerate Issues Feb 20, 2016, 14:21 Fion

I had framerate issues at all times until I turned down a few things like shadows. I don't have the best systems in the world but it should be plenty powerful enough. (GTX 770, 8g ram, i5-5770k). With the turned down stuff just a bit now it's mostly during 'transfer scenes' that the framerate gets skippy.

My bigger concern however are all the problems with the camera. Freezing up between turns, sticking in odd places, not properly showing enemy movement/action, even completely locking up mid-turn. It's by far the most annoying 'bug' in the game IMHO.

Yea a few of the later-game enemies are extremely powerful. In my first game I had an 'avenger downed' mission with the objective guarded by 3 Sectopods and 2 Gatekeepers. This was on high difficulty and I'm reasonably good at the game but they wiped out nearly my entire squad over a handful of turns. Gatekeepers raised up about 20 weaker enemies I'd already killed and the Sectopods surrounded most the soldiers. It was like shooting fish in a barrel and I was the fish. :/

You can bet your ass I made sure I had EMP grenades, hacker specialists, shredder grenadiers with bluescreen rounds galore by that time in my following game.

I found FO4 to be quite the disappointment personally. Yes it's very polished, the game systems are well done... i.e. combat, the weapon modding, the town building were clear improvements over FO3 and it was fun to explore as Bethesda games always are. But the questing, the storyline, the abysmal [yes] [sarcasm] [no(yes)] social system was so damn immersion breaking to me. I put about 1/4th the hours into FO 4 that I usually put into a Bethesda game and am of the opinion that Bethesda has yet to make a truly great FO game.

I get it.. everyone else is giving it to Witcher 3 so 'dare to be different'. Say what you will about it's 'jenky' combat, but that is it's one niggling flaw in the greatest RPG masterpiece of our time.

Lol blaming all voiced dialog for your games shitty RPG aspects is so 1995 when they still had to worry about their game fitting on a one or two CDs.

I do agree the combat is improved over prior games in the series but frankly that is the ONE thing that is improved. Virtually everything else is worse.

But then again I'm of the opinion that Bethesda hasn't made a truly great RPG in a decade +. Thankfully mods very often give the depth their games so often lack.

What? I'm sorry but the writing - as solid as it is in Rise of the Tomb Raider - is about as far away from better than Witcher 3 as you could possibly get.

Apparently it was political, others have noted that in the last several years, only games with strong female leads have won this aware. Fucking social warriors.

Eh, bloodborne wasn't better than DS or DS2. The combat was easier cause you could chug potions all day long. The areas all looked the same. Most enemies were basically the same zone to zone. There was maybe 1/5th the gear possibilities to change up ones character, try out new animation sets, powers, gear, etc. The game was really short compared to DS/2 and while the bosses were cooler than DS2's but only a few of them were challenging in any way (and some were just buggy as all hell). Among the bosses, Father was the only boss that took me more than just a few tries to beat. First Hunter was the most fun. 'I'ma whoop your ass cripple! WTF?!?!' hehe

IMHO the only thing that was done better in bloodborne was the story, and even that was just a pale shadow compared to more story-driven RPGs. From Software's never been about story.

It's a solid game for what it is, and I'd love to see it come to PC. But better than DS or even DS2? Not even remotely.

Did I see them pull off a co-op combo movie at about 1m? Pretty sweet.

I think this game looks like it could be a blast. Ignoring all the garbage of recent years for a cell-shaded retro late-80's Turtles setup. The art style isn't my cup of tea but if the co-op is solid and the combat is as tight and fun as this looks, I'm in.

I've been having quite a lot of fun with Dragon's Dogma myself. I don't own a console so never bought it previously but it's a solid port with a lot of the little features PC gamer's look for, like an FoV slider. For RPG fans who haven't considered the game, it's similar to an elder scrolls game with a bit of dark souls thrown in.

My only complaints are that the quests are really generic and it doesn't recognize my steam controller for some reason, but the PC controls are good enough that I haven't needed it so hey.

But the combat, exploration, character and pawn mechanics are so interesting and fun that I don't really care about the quests being bland.

IMHO the console VR won't be very good. I expect it to be extremely gimmicky like Kinect was. The consoles simply do not have the hardware to do reasonably good VR. I suspect the games will be quite basic, probably largely 2d or throw-back 3d and if not, the games will be quite low fps. The PS4 has a hard enough time getting a single game to run at 60 fps on 1080p, VR needs 90fps at least, 120fps preferable.

I can see the cost being that high if the PSVR ships with like an external CPU/GPU to help power the headset.

There's a mod that adds FoV slider to the game. I haven't personally tried it though.

They do realize that average 30megabits per second (at a cost of ~$75 per month I'm thinking) is still WELL below the European average, let alone the average in Asia.

While I agree exclusivity is bullshit and harms the industry, I'm happy to see it's 2 months instead of a year+ (ala GTA V). Assuming it's a decent port with upped visual fidelity to a level the PC is capable of, my Winter is gonna be awesome.

Between this, Dragon's Dogma & Xcom 2 I'm gonna be busy!
