Got this game last weekend, it rocks hardcore. Used to be free, now they charge like..14 american I payed due to rates, 12 euro. For that kinda chump change this game is a steal in a big way. Online is the way to play and there's some decent people doing serious racing there. Great community.

No damage is a gamers payoff imo. They have engine damage, if you over-rev too much you get slower, and they want to implement tire wear but body damage might be too much to ask. It's nice when some noob like me runs into by accident and you can keep going, not be out of the race.

Car tuning is insanely detailed and you can d/l setups from the pro's. Skins too. This game is all that.

P.S. there's also a big 'drifting' community, if you're into that.

Always sad to see a dev team lost! Good Luck to the job hunter's!!

Although Bullet Proof Monk probably wuldn't have saved them - the movie was far too stupid. Moronic fighting scenes ala Peter Pan vs the Nazi's...

"I'm in the beta for this one, and find it to be rather "blah". It feels like Everquest with clunkier graphics and less to do in general"

Exactly dead on. I don't understand the ravings over the graphics, they are worse than EQ in every way except maybe animations. No pixel shading or any technique late and great, and I expect this of all new releases.

As far as gameplay, i'ts all about the crafting. It's good if your into that, (no where near SWG level though), and fighting is the same as all other games to date, some twists that get old after 10 mins of play.

Just not nearly next gen enough. They should have stuck to Allen's plan. He wanted photo realistic, which was daunting 4 years ago, but alot more achievable now.

I really wanted this, but after the second demo it seems way too hectic for me. OFP works because you can walk for a mile without seeing a soul, then get hammered. Or you can spot a scout at 500m away and take a potshot at him, or slip silently, (like deathly silent), through a jungle and shoot at shadows.

This game has walls and keeps you far too tight. Guess they do this so you don't get bored, but result is you don't even get a second to take a breather. It's like an MTV commercial to some degree, definately for the kiddies.

Myself, I need a little silence in a game, to contrast the fighting and up the anxiety. This seems just go go go like an fps DM map.

Suckered into SWG too, friend said it was like having an mmog of Kansas and he was dead right.

The latest rash of the big name mmogs are cater to the crafting at the major expense of all other avenues of fun. Horizon's is very much in this vein too, if you aren't into crafting, go play something else. Now I hear EQ2 bragging about how player made items will be the best in game and there's a craftsman class.... /sigh

AO has the best way. Crafting is insanely difficult, but far from necessary. Crafting there is another game within the game, as it should be. If you don't want to craft, then don't. There's no huge disadvantage to not crafting whereas in games like DAOC, you'll suck hardcore if you avoid it.

I'll go as far as to say that AO is the best mmporg out there currently, I'm glad they never abandoned it.

I played Karrillions RTS's for hours and hours and hours. No way am I gonna get back into them again. Major, (yet enjoyable), time sinks. Your mouse hand will cramp up and still you'll play.

WTF is up with the Gogex download. Used to be cool, now it downloads a movie and plays it and you can't stop it. Morons!

P.S. Descent ruled. I still play Descent3 sometimes. No space flight anything has come close to their control scheme yet.

I don't get this. Log in, die repeatedly - usually within 2 sec of respawn... Says I need to labor and such, but hell, kinda hard to labor in 2 seconds. Even if I do get away, I die as soon as someone wants to kill me, you have like 2hp's.

Back to renegades I guess....

Im kinda ticked, but only because there are no good multi FPS out there right now. Im wayyyyyyy tired of BF1942, which isnt a true FPS anyhow. Whats the next cool multi shooter? Whens it coming?

Call of Duty, this month? Game looks seriously good, mohaa on 'roids. When a nade goes off by your head you lose your hearing and things get blurry. It's fun.

Now alot better. Still pointless to use a joystick as the mouse is extremely more accurate, but at leaset it's an option. Targetting seems to make more sense.

Still no speed control, you either move at one speed or stop. More fine tuning and a heck of alot more freedom of movement and this will play nice I think.

bah, same same. Anything with Strategy in it irks me....

Actually anything with a time limit/think fast or die irks me, lol. I don't play well under that kind of pressure. Even FPS games, when they give you a level that has a time limit, I cheat past it everytime.

Guess I'm weird.

>>>Solid. Been waiting... and waiting...<<<

Why wait? There's at least 20 RTS games that go gold every week. I think there's probably at least 543543875 RTS games that went gold this year so far. In fact I think 2 more just went gold in the time it took me to write this post....

Man, trying to use a joystick and it's stupid! Very very uptight flying, I've flown WW1 planes with a better turning radius, and targetting is super awkward. And NO SPEED CONTROL!! Can't slow down/speed up at all, LOL. There's keys to bind to a brake and a thrust, (can't bind it to a throttle), but they had no noticeable effect, hehe.

Why don't these guys just copy/paste from the Descent series?? They had a 100% better flight control scheme that they made 5 fookin years ago!

Besides that, game looks pretty good and runs smooth. The story sounds like a winner and the animations are very up to par. Be nice if they do some major control overhall.

Enahs put a link above that goes to a .wmv joke thing that has the derek smart Derek Smart DEREK SMART thing at the very end. It's actually pretty funny, tho 3 years old about.

P.S.
Whine about Battlecruiser series all you want, it has a dead serious niche following. Very cultish and very devoted. Game must have some plusses.

same ol' fps. All are the same. Same gameplay since Q1. Except for a few passable nuiances, this plays exactly like SoF2. Graphics are good and really fast here, even with the candy turned on though, looks amazing.

I, too, would like to announce a game my 4yr old nephew is working on, it's a fps/rts/mmog/rpg/space sim, due for release in 2045, I'll have screenshots by next week.
