Halsy and Warhawk always seem to post right after each other so I have a theory that they are infact one Twoface like super villain/gamer/political pundit.

Edit:

Happy birthday to the warhawk half!

I doubt it was the developers decision to wait two years to release it, it would probably have been some half assed publishing strategy - possibly from the same family of logic as EA not promoting Strangers Wrath because they couldn't get the ps2 port running.

Taking a charming game that prett much anyone of any age could play and enjoy and peopling it with cheesey generic undead hos complete with cringemaking voice acting - "Theres SO much PLEASURE in Paaain" anyone ? - was to my mind a pretty retarded move, and the bosses and bugs sucked, ubi needs to chill out and recapture some of the magic they have lost to the sportsgame development life cycle.

And Ultimately Severence Blade of Darkness beat DBTC in terms of usability, fun and dismemberment, and it actually worked in multiplayer too.

I don't think any of the imps were automatically scripted to hit you, you just have to be fast enough to catch them with the shotgun as they leap.

I'm really looking forwards to SS2, especially if some of the huge enemies have special tactics that are required to take them down.

Actually i think this might be more like guildwars than anything else - with a smattering of real time combat, reading between the lines im getting seige based multiplayer and instanced zones / dungeons.

Wasn't the last one awful ? I have a lingering fondness for this genre having played castles and castles II religiously a few years ago.

This sounds way too good to actually become a game, lets see how far it gets scaled back.

Speaking of TA has anyone checked out that unreal annihilation mod? If they ever finish it it promises to be something magical - a combination of TA and battlefield, but they need help badly.

Thats bad to hear, I just picked them both up for about $30 / £15 combined and have really enjoyed the first game so far.

Part of the problem is that mthe new engines require a veritable farm of texture & 3d artists. just about every single mod in development for doom3 / hl2 is desperately looking for people to model and skin.

Our cat has proved smart enough to get out of any collar (and the goddamn bucket twice) we fit, even when currently its limping around on 3 legs after being hit by a car.

Edit - I'm pretty sure the new version of itunes offered to search my local network for shared music.

I am really disapointed, part of the problem is that current technology stands in the way of some of the features we have come to expect - much like ragdolling has eliminated gibbing / limb severence and 3d has killed random map generation. In strategy games at the moment the technology / gameplay balance is almost always skewed the wrong way.

However, most of this is beside the point - one of JA2s
defining features was that it was played over pregenerated maps and had much in common with an rpg, theres no excuse for fucking up this game.

Not to mention that naming a character after someone in the greek myths does not a deep movie make, also most gaming encourages exactly the fucking oposite of imagination. e.g. those crappy movie tie ins.

To be fair unreal 3 is an evolution of tech newer than doom 3 / HL 2.

I think graphical quality probably depends on the scale of the world, if it does indeed handle entire armies + buildings in the same engine as the rpg then the lack of scale is acceptable.

Fantastic I guess, damnit I was quite liking the forums. Wonder how long it will be till we get a derek smart / is this the $foo that makes the game good / d3 vs HL2 topic and we devolve back to uncivilised wretches ;-)

Bah every situation in life is like a classic startrek episode but with less paunches.

Bleep.com is the mp3 download arm of warp records, it delivers high bit rate mp3s (and soon FLAC apparently) at a discount over their boxed albums, DRM free and with full previews, this aproach seems to be working for them. Its also worth noting that we are all already paying a 'piracy tax' on every audio-CDR and (I think) cassette we buy, and I would imagine this will eventually extend to mp3 players and regular CD-R's internationally.
