I'm not so sure, as far as I can tell every game I have ever really loved from starflight to magic and mayhem through the xcoms, system shocks, thiefs, dues ex', fallouts, the ultima series and so on has either sold like shit or been sabotaged. After 15 or so years of this I have come to the conclusion that the great ones generally don't sell and we can't trust a fucking press release (not exactly earth shattering I know but I've also played a shit load of games).

Dear god, why don't they just rouge Fisher up and animate him doing a strip tease or something... that's surely the next step in the hype machine.

Mind you, it's worked on me; with all this splinter cell 4 crap going on I went and picked up the original on ebay for 99p.

I think they already announced sin episodes at least twice, but I doubt that'll stop em doing it a third time. My suspiscions are that it is either:

1. A vague '3rd quarter 2008' style release date for one of the already announced 3rd party games - Sin Episodes or Neil Mankes new project.

2. A release date for one of the highly anticipated mods, which having switched to a pay model will generate the longest thread in blues news history unless...

3. Derek Smarts Battle Cruiser Online is comming to steam!

According to the UK websites Hammer and Sickle's release date has been pushed back to January, time to grab that Silent Storm gold pack I guess.

Right, they look good but that doesn't actually mean they will play particually well.

As far as I can tell the 'must have titles exclusive titles' seem to be PDZ and, um... Madden?

No burn out, no halo, no oblivion, no fable 2, no GTA.

Interesting, but I'm not exactly sure I see the advantage of smooshing two quite different geographically seperate companies together.

Ray - Jade Empire was kind of short and linear, seemed to me to be perfect xbox rental fodder. not sure that a straight clone for the PC would add much.

Silent Storm without panzerkleins and even more familiarity to JA2.

Actually I am slightly worried it'll just be silent storm with a new front end, hopefully the RPG mechanics and campaign will be all new content.

Apparently its due to ship on monday the 13th of november in the UK, I've preordered it and will post some thoughts if it looks like the US release will lag behind the EU date significantly.

Star Wolves was fun but very linear, would love to see Star Wolves 2 in a more 'privateer' type setting.

The Xscale is not a strong offering, we are in the middle of shifting from the 'old' arm processors. It'll be interesting to see if this shakes up the embedded market a bit, and I note with interest the throw away comment about the number of supported IO devices.

Now, if these Zombies were raping women & pulling the guts out of babies, then maybe we'd have something here.

I think that was probably a little too revealing.

A game that promised great NPC support, it was a little gem called Daikatana. Personally I can't wait to order someone to shoot a wall repeatedly then get stuck in a door from a context sensitive menu.

If I had to guess I would say it was probably a publishers decision, and besides it looks to me like they were fixing a problem created by starforce. Whatever else you might say about Derek Smart, I doubt that many other games manufacturers would bother to issue a starforce related fix. All in all it has confirmed my opinions of starforce, I will never buy a game that uses it or allow it on to my system :-)

Not to mention its LUA scripted and will apparently ship with modding tools, hopefully someone will whip up a Culture style mod.

Oh and speaking of interface:

That looks like a sphere of influence / range to me.

Jesus, I think the reviewer might have been playing the wrong game - and speaking of the DS I just bought one + Dual Strike. The DS isn't region locked is it? I was pondering importing Rebelstar as its an actual Gollop brothers game unlike this waste of space.

Am I the only one that feels something seems wrong when a Nintendo handheld gets better turn based strategy games than the PC?

The main developers the golup brothers got screwed by their publisher who then farmed the project out to eastern europe to save money. We got Aftermath instead of Freedom Ridge.

Part of the problem is the golup brothers tried exactly that and got royally screwed by their publisher, and that was 3 years ago with an experienced dedicated team. What do you think the chances are nowadays of getting a turn based tactical game of decent quality developed published and marketed?

Unless its for the GBA of course.
