The hl engine is old yes, but I'm contiunually surprised by how good some parts of it still look. The crossbow in HL for example beats alot of weapons models in recent games, thats just sad. It's a compliment to HL, but still.

The bullet impact effects in CS are still great: -bullets leave a hole on both sides of a door, the smoke and particle effects give a good tactile feel to shooting, rounds make a different sound when hitting different materials wood/metal/concrete

I know you are saying why am I so impressed with that. Because some games today still get those basic things wrong. YOu would think they could take note of successful games and learn.

I played for a few minutes, there are a few servers without steam.

Yeah, the movement animations could be better, kinda looks like walking on ice sometimes.

I didn't see any blood - is this correct? Hard to believe they'd make a HL mod without blood; which would be a deal breaker for me.

yes but why would lame hackers steal and leak a server patch that makes it harder for them to hack and cheat like the lame asses that they are.

I'm sure glad that games like Purge and Chaser get made while Sin2 is ignored.

Yeah, the gaming industry makes sense.

You don't have to be psychic, just predict a game, any game will suck and you'll probably be right.

And Predator was a great action movie, the sniveling, sorry excuses for action movies that come out now days could learn alot from it.

if AVP1 had client/server multiplayer, people would still be playing it today; I gaurantee _that_.

The gameplay really made you feel like you were in the movie, especially the weapon sounds and the way aliens broke apart when you shot them. The darkness aspect was way WAY overused though.

*sigh* note to all dev teams: peer to peer does _not_count as multiplayer

I'm not sure why I needed to know all that. But assuming I did, I'll have forgotten it all by April 2004 anyway.

*yawn* Yes I'm going to buy it and yes I'm tired of hearing about it. We get it, we got it, we all know about D3 now. At this point it's like advertising that the sun will come up 7 times next week. Wake me when it's released.
