Single serve coffee is sustainable in any coffee maker, just add enough coffee and water for one serving. No fancy machine required.

There's nothing hidden about that. I've only had an iPhone for about a year and I found it the first time I needed to take a screenshot of a web page.

I've played all of their games (except the newest one, just not my genre) and SteamWorld Heist is my favorite. I wish they'd make a SteamWorld Heist 2. They made a sequel to SteamWorld Dig, so why not Heist? SteamWorld Quest was fun, but I never got around to finishing it. I though I was at the end, but then it kept going. I took a break, and when I came back to it, I couldn't get back into it. I was overwhelmed re-learning all of the cards and combos. It was easier when it's introduced slowly a few cards at a time.

Too bad they can't liquidate Alex Jones. They could probably sell him in bottles to his nutty followers as a male enhancement supplement.

A little over a year ago there was a lot of construction around town. Near the construction were sights advertising new fiber internet coming. There were signs in my neighborhood advertising it too. This is a regional company and they have a good reputation and I've been wishing they'd offer service here too. Eventually their trucks disappeared, and I never heard anything. I went to their site, plugged in an address in my neighborhood and it said service was not available here.

I was talking with someone and the topic came up and they said they kept getting stuff in the mail trying to get them to sign up. I went back to the site and plugged in various addresses around town and it seemed available almost everywhere except my neighborhood. I finally decided to call the company and ask why. I explained that to the person about the construction and signs in my neighborhood. I eventually got connected to someone that explained that the city denied them a service permit in my area for some reason. I have no idea who I would need to contact at the city to complain to. AT&T does offer fiber in town, including my neighborhood. However, I'm still using cable because I hate AT&T, even though I can get faster speeds for the same price.

NASA explains how it would alert the public of an apocalyptic asteroid strike

What would be the point? I would think that people would rather be blissfully unaware.

How many people would do things very differently if they knew the world was going to end? A very wise person once said:
"If you would change the way you are currently living because you found out the world was going to end, you were not living correctly in the first place."
I bet it would be nearly impossible to keep it a secret. People that know are going to tell friends, their friends are going to tell other friends and it's going to get out. Then there are amateur astronomers that will spot it too. Would it be better to let everyone know than have some know and some suspect based on something they heard? Either way, it'll be chaos.

I have all three Metro games, but I haven't played Exodus yet. I played the original Metro 2033 when I got it free with a GPU purchase, and I loved it. I played Last Light Redux a couple of years ago and didn't like it as much. There were several levels that were just frustrating, and whoever made the decision to remove purchasing air filters should never work in the video game industry again. Seriously, who the fuck thought that it was a good idea not to let you buy air filters in a game where you have to wear a mask to go outside.

Are they adding ads to current subscribers or new and renewed subscriptions? I paid for an annual Prime membership, so I'm paid up through July. I'm not currently watching anything on Prime right now though. I also currently subscribe to Netflix and Apple. I stick to one 1-hour and one half hour show at a time. I just finished a watching a couple of shows on Prime right before the ads were supposed to kick in, and the two shows I'm watching now are on Apple and Netflix. When I go back to Prime, if I find ads, I'm going to be pissed because I already paid for no ads. I wasn't planning to renew when my subscription ran out because the experience is getting shittier. They used to have an option to only show prime shows and movies, but they either removed it or made it really hard to find, and now I have to sift through shit that requires extra subscriptions.

Also...
A membership that only includes Prime Video and none of the company’s shipping benefits costs $8.99 a month
When did they start this? I've never seen that option. I don't buy much from Amazon to justify it for shipping alone, and I'm primarily using it for the video streaming.

I don't know who said this originally, but I saw it in another comment recently: "Once a game is pirated, it lives forever."

LurkerLito wrote on Feb 12, 2024, 22:56:
Actually I find that the way Rockstar handled the GTA Vice City music licensing thing on steam just as big a problem. Sure they didn't stop selling it but they actually removed music content from people who bought the game ages ago due to their license expiring. I get that they can't sell new copies to people with that music but they shouldn't have been able to rip the music out of my local copy and call it an "update".
What is even more fucked up is when music licenses expired on another GTA game, the music was only removed for future purchases. If you owned the game before the license expired, you still owned the original game with the music you paid for. I guess it was too much work for them, so the next time they decided to screw over everyone.

World has gone mad, unless you live out in the boonies, you don't need a SUV.
People want station wagons, but they don't sell those any longer.

Station wagons rock! My wagon is way more sporty with as much (if not more) utility than an SUV, and it gets 40+ MPG. I used to have a truck. It was useful, but I was considering putting a bed cap on it because most of the time when I was hauling stuff, I didn't want it open for the taking. I sold it, bought a station wagon and it's been much more useful. It seats 5, has plenty of cargo room (more if I fold the rear seats down). If I ever need more space (which I haven't) I can rent a trailer.

Also a right-mouse button as walk forward player here (I believe this dates back to the keybinds in the original shareware Duke Nukem 3D).
I think it was the original Doom that had RMB as forward. I'm pretty sure my key setup is an evolution of the original Doom's. I think it was RMB forward, the period and comma keys (or <>) were strafe left/right, and / and SHIFT did something. I used that setup up until Quake and eventually moved over to the home row (ASDF) but kept the same finger for the same function (i.e. I use S and D for strafe left and right).

Can you not rebind the keys?
Probably, but this was one that throws you into the game before any menu available. its a minor annoyance , but I just get annoyed.

Some games wont let me use Right mouse button as forward, as it somehow hard-codes it into meaning secondary fire, even after I re-bind it. Also unreal engine games often bug out by hanging M2 if you hold it too long. Sometimes I just end up playing with WASD, but it feels wrong for me
Another member of the RMB forward master race. I've tried to get used to WASD for games that don't let you customize controls and I can't do it long before look for a way to use my setup or just abandon the game. I use a logitech G502, and its software will let you remap the RMB as a key. When I meet a game that doesn't let me use RMB as forward, I remap it to something like the UP key and use that instead.

Considering how long a 2TB hdd at 7200 rpm takes too fully format. This is scary. I shudder at the amount of time required for this. HDD tech needs a huge overhaul when it comes to drive speed. Bring back 10K drives if you want more density. This is going no where fast.
It took the same time to do a full encryption format of my last 4 backup drives from 1TB to 8TB. As HDD density increases, so does consecutive R/W. Random R/W on an HDD will probably get worse as drives get bigger though.

And that deciding a recall was more expensive than being sued, they decided to take the course of litigation instead...and government allowed it. How is not barring a company from doing this not part of the settlement?
I know of Ford's cover up with the exploding Pinto, but the govt. didn't allow it, Ford tried to keep it a secret. It wouldn't surprise me if there were more recent incidents now that corporations are practically running the government and get away with murder.

A lot of people are reporting that after this hotfix, a lot of quests are breaking due to the changes made to the way quest items are being handled. The patch says:
You will now be able to access certain quest-related items on the spot, even if they are currently in the camp chest or in the inventory of a companion who is waiting at camp.
However it seems that it after the hotfix it's not seeing quest items at all.
