Yet you all still buy their products...go figure.

I only have Madden 2002 and Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit in my collection. And I don't own a console. I've probably got more Sierra and Activision games than anything (Tribes, Tribes 2, AvP, SoF2, etc.) So sorry to disappoint you.

But it's the people who do buy the "safe bet" games that hurt gaming itself!

Quite correct. There are actually people out there in the world who have thought to themselves "Gee, Catwoman was a great movie. The video game should be just as good." These people should have their hands chopped off so that they can never play video games again.

Firefox is nice, but its not perfect, and in many ways IE does handle some things especially css or dhtml stuff a bit better.

IE is actually pretty buggy with the way it handles CSS, and is more lax in its handling of sloppy HTML and CSS code. Other browsers are more strict and are better at following web standards.

Oh wait. Someone already convinced ya'll of that didn't they?

So, Steam is all George W. Bush's fault? How very predictable of you lying liberal Democrats. It's blatantly obvious that the terrorists in Counter-Strike are modeled after key Republican figures. Next I bet you'll try to convince us that Gabe Newell was backed by Saudi Arabian businessmen, or a cabal of prominent gay rights activists.

You don't fool me, you know.

Isn't this a one-man project? If it is, your being FAR too critical.

Why don't you go play Starshatter and then get back to me. One guy is responsible for that game (John "Milo" DiCamillo), and he didn't use any DIY game engine to make it.

I'm surprised it was as close as it was, with all the Eagles turnovers. Nice close game - I was hoping for an Eagles win as I hate the Patriots (being from Buffalo and all, heh). Ugh.

Modeling is tedious. What would be really cool is if someone came up with an app that allowed you to scan a 2D image then 'guestimate' it into a 3D mesh for importing into games.

Should have put this in the last post, but oh well...

Even if the microwave energy doesn't permanently fry the chip it'll certainly lower the lifespan. And usually a dead chip means total the car -- they're usually not designed for replacement.

Most chips actually can be replaced, and there are places that will even sell you "performance" chips for a little extra oomph under the hood. It's true that car companies are making it tougher to replace them, though.

http://www.twoguysgarage.com/episodes/episode.php?epi=314

You can also swap out the whole computer with one from a junker, but eventually here in NY that means you would not be able to pass inspection, because the inspection system will be totally computerized. They hook up your car to a computer, and all information gets sent directly to Albany. Albany will know the serial numbers in the car's onboard computers and easily tell if one's been swapped out. No inspection means no registration.
The new inspection rules have been a big issue around here because shops have to invest in the expensive equipment AND get a second phone line to dial Albany directly AND the shop even gets billed for the call! One more thing that will drive the mom'n'pop shops out of business in favor of large dealers.
Take this with a grain of salt... I don't quite remember all the details on this, I read it awhile back on a local car club forum.

Yeah, except that any computer assisted functions will stop working too. Like anti-lock brakes, traction control, etc. Power steering and power brakes may go too. I don't think any cars are fully drive-by-wire -- yet -- so you should still have some control.

Well, for one thing I can say with certainty is that your power brakes still work even with the anti-lock system down. (My anti-lock in my '95 Blazer has not been working for some months now.)
Even though there is still the emergency brake, I would never want braking to be "fly-by-wire". The ABS can stay the way it is. I know I sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but hydraulic brakes have been around since 1938 and they're good enough for me, thanks.

If nailed with this microwave device, the biggest effect would be on the timing/fuel injection system. Most newer cars do not have a distributor, so if the computer goes down, the car would run very rough, if at all. No spark = no go. The computer is what manages the spark & timing.
As for muscle cars, well, the cops would still need a spike strip - only my radio would get nuked.

Good movie chase scenes: the BMW chase in The Transporter, and the Shelby Mustang chase scene in Gone in 60 Seconds.

If you're in the United States and reading this on the Internet, the Federal Bureau of Information (FBI)may be spying on you at this very moment.

My life is so damn boring that anyone spying on me would have slipped into a coma by now. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go pull the shades down - there's a Blackhawk helicopter hovering outside my window and the searchlight shining on my face is starting to annoy me.

I, for one, immensely enjoy smacking people upside the head with toilets.

Sometimes I'll use a filing cabinet.

But for sheer entertainment value, there's nothing like cracking someone's skull open with a chunk of flying commode. That's priceless.

If you're really good, you can catch someone else's crapper and fling it back in their face.
