This game looks nifty. Did noone here ever play Ikari Warriors (arcade), Commando (arcade), Alien Breed (Amiga/PC), Chaos Engine (Amiga/PC), or my all-time favorite, Syndicate (Amiga/PC)? Good times.

Looks great, runs great... but why do all the planes have propellers on them? I don't see any "Guld of Oman" map, only one called "Wake Island". The game looks nothing like the videos.

Let's see how many people will read this secret text... will they think I am dumb enough to have downloaded the wrong demo? Let's find out! I should give a little hint by screwing up this little blurb. oops

They should at least make the prison setting interesting - how about having your avatar wake up in his bunk with some big muscular man on your back banging away on your brown eye.

In that case, would Oblivion be a role-playing game or a horror/survival game...?

I didn't *break* it, I was merely testing its durability, and I *placed* it in the woods cause it's made of wood and I thought he should be with his family.

Did noone guess the quote? It's from Happy Gilmore... that movie is a riot!

I don't know...it might work well in a Derek Smart game.

In that case, enemies and civilians = customers and critics?

I wonder if Mr. Thompson read comic books in his youth...

He was probably listening to too much heavy metal music and gangsta rap while playing Dungeons and Dragons. Jack did (I think) coin the term "killographic murder simulator". That has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

Hey, at least Elvis is dead. We can't blame society's ills on him anymore.

That can NOT be good if you play for an hour with a higher end video card and CPU….you are going to melt the damn motherboard man!

Especially if you don't spread your heatsink goop! (sorry, cheap shot, but it was there, had to take it...)

The fantasy genre has not been really attempted hardly at all in a 1st pov.

Huh? What about: Thief (series), Savage, Everquest, Everquest 2, Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Hexen, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Dark Age of Camelot... etc. etc.

t boggles my mind how many times the wheel gets invented in this industry.

Established, big-name license:
  • Big $$$ cost - less money for other things
  • Work with unfamiliar code
  • Might be other restrictions, royalties, etc.

Roll-your-own game engine:
  • Keep more money
  • Work with code you know and can adapt to suit the game
  • license code to others for big $$$
  • Support, tools, all right in-house

You should make use it on the edit URL by default as well.

Enahs: Gotcha... now fixed. I also changed the code around a bit. With some mods I'm sure this script could be adapted for other sites, to inject HTML or other codes.

Thanks for your help and compliments! New version is up:

... and by shoddy, substandard games, I really mean shoddy, substandard game - because it's just the same shit with a new coat of paint in a different box.

Now if I could get Derek to threaten to sue me, I could really join the pantheon of detractors... woohoo!

I think it's pretty sad that developers like Looking Glass have to close up shop, but a rude prick like Derek Smart, who releases shoddy sub-standard games, is still around. If he was like any normal developer he would have been out of business a long time ago (probably right after the disastrous release of BC3K). But I suppose when your games have a development budget of $2 you can sell 50 units and still come out smelling like a rose.

There, I think that should stir the pot a little...

Needed:
  • Firefox
  • Greasemonkey extension
  • Platypus extension(?)

Testers needed to see how well it works... not sure how it looks under XP but with Win98 the buttons should be all under the message window. ( Yeah, Win98... I'm on my backup box.... )

I use Greasemoney at work to save me having to choose 'PASSED' from a list of options a hundred times a day. Much easier to pick an alternative when there's a problem, since 95% of the time it's going to be 'PASSED' anyway.

Yep, I use it at work to make text areas bigger so I can see what the heck I'm editing. Problem is I'm always mixing up PHP, ASP and Javascript code... I'll have to find a decent JS reference over at Amazon.com .

It's very cool (if you're into that sort of thing) and handy to be able to add some functionality or fix a few a bugs in someone else's pages. Or remove things you don't like...

I started doing what you are doing Camaro76 a few months back....but I was not using greasemonkey I was actually making a full extension for it.

I kinda figured you'd be into this sorta thing... after all you did the fix for the editing bug.

I think the Platypus extension also has to be installed - but anyone willing to try this script can grab it here:

http://camaro76.web.aplus.net/bluesnewspostenhancer.user.js

Platypus extension is here:
