It's no different than CS or TF2 in that respect.
You play to get better and because you like the competition.

I played a shitload of CS and TF2 both, not to get better or for competition but because it was fun to me. Honestly most times I go back to Overwatch I end up disappointed after playing, from being stuck in terrible maps I hate playing (hi, Illios!) to ending up on bad team after bad team. The custom game browser is no excuse for not being able to simply tell quickplay which maps or modes I want to be dropped into.

Went to get my son some books for his birthday. The fantasy sets I wanted were $23 for the paperbacks but $32 for the Kindle versions. And we wonder why people pirate.

All these people saying digital goods would be cheaper because distributors no longer had to deal with warehousing and shipping and physical store fronts had it wrong. A physical good is using money by merely existing; it has to be stocked, it has to be displayed, and it has to be shipped. It's in nobody's interest having it sit on a shelf or in a box indefinitely... so they are priced to move. That little 800KB ebook sitting on an Amazon server, meanwhile, has almost no footprint, takes virtually no bandwidth to transmit, and never has to be rotated for newer stock.

There's no incentive whatsoever for digital goods to ever reduce prices because they essentially cost no money to keep around.

Not saying a hardware native HDR isn't ostensibly amazing, but does anyone recall HL2 Lost Coast? That was like 12y ago.

It's not the same. HDR in Source Engine was a lighting trick to make light sources interact with textures more naturally. HDR on TVs is just an industry buzzword for a higher standard of contrast ratio and color accuracy. Problem is, both the video display AND content have to be calibrated for it, so it's not a matter of just flipping a switch and woosh you've got HDR.

And this isn't really progress as I see it. LCD tech always was simply awful, between backlight bleeding, horrible contrast ratios, and wildly inaccurate colors. Returning to the contrast ratio capable on my 15" CRT back in 2000 isn't forward progress. Playing dark games or watching dark movies has been a decade-plus-long exercise in frustration thanks to shitty tech.

Sounds like the problem EVERY ONE OF THESE "creative" games suffers from, outside of Terraria. Building a big sandbox is all fine and dandy, but mixing it with meaningful and entertaining focused gameplay is apparently just outside of anyone's abilities.

kxmode has been here for 14 years. Only in the past 6 months has he become extremely prominent, in part by constantly arguing (albeit good-naturedly), with almost anything anyone posts. In the past 3 months, he's been posting almost exclusively about the Bible, while swearing he wouldn't post about the Bible.

What gives?

His is a religion of prostelyzation, which is the absolute worst kind. He thinks he's doing good by his deity trying to convert The Internet to his nonsensical view, probably so he can get more virgins after death. That's Christianity, right?

Yeah definitely a fun movie, caught Logan this morning and John Wick last week. It's like summer blockbuster season for people tired of traditional (and tame) summer blockbusters right now...

Thought it was assumed to be coming to PC since they ported the the latest ones. I found the game OK at best, a far cry better than XIII but filled to the brim with fed ex quests with the main ones ranging from awful to terrible.

News Comments > Mass Effect Andromeda Promises "Totally Softcore Space Porn"
14. Re: Mass Effect Andromeda Promises Feb 27, 2017, 13:36 PHJF

There's a huge difference between the sex scenes in say Witcher 3 and God of War's grunting and head-board banging. Just like the Witcher series, Mass Effect is a character driven RPG and hopefully ME:A takes initiative from the Witcher and makes the sex scenes about the characters, not the sex.

The "romance" in every BioWare title is about as considered and mature as a group of fifth graders snickering at the utterance of "penis" during a sex ed class.

I actually did play Xenoblade via Dolphin, and several other games. But Dolphin never got Wii Motion Plus emulated correctly last I checked, and certain games just never worked anyways (like Metroid).

We were given a Wii (which I've never owned and had very little access to) and went on a hunt for the best games. Shit is expensive online with little to no stock and I tried a local indy used games shop and they had next to nothing. It pisses me off because I got a PS2 VERY late in its life and got almost all my ~25 games for it for $20 (new) a piece. Stuff like Skyward Sword and Metroid Prime 3 are somehow $40+. Shouldn't there be like a billion copies of these things out there still?

Nice, girlfriend ordered this laptop and instead of 128GB SSD/12GB RAM they somehow shipped her a 512GB/32GB version. I made sure we selected the one direct from MSI, but it looks like we received an SKU from Computer Upgrade King that's supposed to cost $300 more. Sort of makes up for her old laptop being stolen.

My GF now has a laptop stronger than my desktop x_x

As a person who play's Lucio as his main character, Roadhog's are cake. Once you get hooked you can alt fire and push him away, but it does take some timing.

Roadhog always receives the first action opportunity following a successful hook.

They should have had devs lined up out the ass to have product ready to go.

I don't know how Oculus wasn't able to have a major AAA game ready to launch with Rift given a) the ridiculously long dev time Rift had and b) that facebook money. I'm sure as engines are built for VR support it'll slowly gain ground, but what a whimper of a start for the medium...
