Regional prices are designed to make games affordable for poorer economies where a full price game would not see many sales, and where they have to compete with bootleg copies being sold openly. People in wealthy countries using a VPN to get a cheaper price from poor countries is just another way for wealthy people to ruin a good thing for poor people to benefit themselves. If you're okay with that, fine, but at least recognize it.

Piracy is arguably the lesser of two evils. Sure, it's one less full price domestic sale either way, but at least you're not shitting on some other gamer on the other side of the world just to save a buck.

... or regional pricing is designed to maximize the amount of money a company can wring out of each individual market. Do you live under a rock? Do you honestly think this is generosity on the part of publishers?

No not really, the game in its current state isn't much more than an update of Warband. I don't think it is ever going to be much more. Also the game only launched into EA like two months ago.

Reminds me of the argument between Ohio and North Carolina. NC plates read "first in flight," while Ohio plates read "birthplace of aviation."

I got a crazy news flash for you: 2% of Steam users surveyed use 4K. 63% (myself included) use 1080p still. They are "recommending" specs to the majority of users.

The game was OK, but as was hinted at already, they were expecting it to be the first of a huge new IP. That's why they had R.A. Salvatore pen the lore behind it and Todd McFarlane design the art for it. They dumped all this hype and money into an... OK product.

It's a sign of the times that I'd be more hyped if this were based on Critical Role campaign 1 lore than Baldurs Gate lore.

Also I remain unhyped - since I really didn't like the gameplay demo they showed. So many things that made it not DnD 5e and rather DOS 3.0, nothing wrong with that, but I want DOS 3 more than I want a DOS 3 that looks like Baldurs Gate

This is exactly what I got from the video... glad I'm not alone.

I was going to user Uber Eats at the start of the homestay order when I saw they were offering "free delivery" from local restaurants. Then I got to the end of the order process and saw a 10% "service fee" tacked on by Uber Eats.

Bunch a fucking dickheads. You know when Chipotle offers "free delivery" it's the same fucking price I'd pay if I drove to the store and ordered it in person. Hence the "FREE" thing.

Because legacy, dude. There is so much ancient infrastructure out there, you can't just wipe out support for it and not expect any consequences.

Apparently you can play a modern version of Diablo 2 using Grim Dawn and this mod.

I've been doing this hard for the past week.
How is it?

What he said, it's remarkably like playing Diablo 2. A lot of areas feel like 3D versions of the originals, but some are updated to look and feel more like they should (like the Black Marsh is actually a marsh now). It's a pretty uncanny effort.

Grabbed a NES Switch Lite for giggles. Pretty cool to watch my 6-yo son play original NES games. They were so much harder and didn't explain a damn thing back then. There is no manual and he is figuring it out. Cool to watch it happen and be transported into the time when I first played the games. Worth every penny.

Well there are also only two buttons... if not A, then B.

Always celebrate our anniversary by cooking.

I started playing Bannerlord (having never played much of the original M&B) and am having quite a good time. Game is still very much early access (which I'd previously sworn off of, but desperate times...) but I knew I was going to enjoy myself as soon as the Conan-esque intensely manly title music started playing.

For anyone bored and out of stuff to watch, there's currently a free month of Shudder available on Prime Video which besides having a bunch of old thriller/horror movies has a somewhat interesting show called The Dead Lands. It's about New Zealand tribal mythology.

I feel like they really could have picked a name that wouldn't be mistaken for glorifying police shootouts.

That's what it obviously does, though. Hence "NEGOTIATE WITH CRIMINALS" instead of "engage and question suspects or suspicious persons."

What a dumb fucking game.
