TLDR
Don't worry about it and just use it. For more peace of mind DON'T look at the temperature gauge.

That's great except for the 90% of us with fans that ramp up as heat readings do. People are reporting temp spikes from mundane tasks like opening windows explorer or a web browser. You want your fans to be ramping up every time you double click something?

My father's coworker had both this and tetris on a computer at the office, where I got to play both when visiting. Had to wait for the parents to eventually get a 486 before I could regularly play anything, and by that time Doom was out. I still have Spear of Destiny Super CD Pack, though!

Some are. Most of the standard D&D spells aren't in PS:T, e.g. Magic Missile, and many of the spells, particularly at higher levels, are unique to the game.

You mean Mechanus' Cannon isn't a real D&D spell???

LIFE IS A LIE!

Also, PST has Magic Missile.

Because trying to turn a free marketplace already supersaturated with content into paid content worked so well with Bethesda...

News Comments > Terraria: Otherworld Developer Switch
16. Re: Terraria: Otherworld Developer Switch Apr 6, 2017, 07:53 PHJF

I have maybe 10 minutes of FTL and 400 hours of Terraria. The only Rogue-like I ever got into was Rogue Legacy, and that's barely a Rogue-like. Even before any of the massive updates to Terraria I was sinking dozens of hours in. There's tons of loot, NPCs (shopkeepers and the like) to rescue from the world, distinct biomes populated by distinct enemy types, boss battles, a mostly linear difficulty curve, and a robust building system (or about as robust as one can get in 2D). Terraria seems like Minecraft 2D to an untrained eye, but it has far more beneath the surface than just ores to mine and far more of a focused actual game than Minecraft ever managed.

Even if the other driver was at fault, its also a question of determining if a human driver in the uber car would have seen it coming and reduced speed or intervened in any other way.

Human drivers already cause tens of thousands of crashes per year... like THIS ONE. Just because it's computer controlled doesn't mean a vehicle weighing thousands of pounds and traveling at 60MPH is going to be able to avoid being crashed into by every negligent human it encounters. I saw *so many* asshole drivers just yesterday, from the usual failing to signal to driving outside clearly marked lanes to *slowly* pulling out in front of oncoming traffic. It's fucking absurd just how bad people are at such a ubiquitous and dangerous task.

Don't think anyone cares how it "looks" considering how stupidly entertaining Chivalry was.

[His post was clearly a reactionary one made with very little knowledge of the game at hand. That is unfortunately common on the internet. I'm guessing he looked at a screenshot and immediately assumed that the game was just another survival sandbox game like H1Z1 or Conan Exiles.
Or I went to the Steam page and read the information. It sounds exactly like H1Z1, sans zombies, and H1Z1 is a shit game. In fact, they fucking cite H1Z1 on their Steam page as if that's some kind of positive reference material.

Nice, according to police the OTHER vehicle was at fault for the collision (shocking), but Uber is suspending testing because of course this will be bad publicity for autonomous cars.

They aren't using patents to restrict consumers use of the cartridges, they are trying to use patents to restrict other businesses from using their patented goods for their own businesses. Some guy buys up empty Lexmark toners, refills them, and then sells them.

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with community feedback. Players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a massive 8x8 km island to be the lone survivor. This is BATTLE ROYALE.

This is the dumbest-sounding shit I've ever read. Aside from insane Russian men and massive griefers, I can't fathom who makes up the audience for this type of game. It's like the antithesis of Minecraft.

Oh, and of course it's early access, because why would anyone release *yet another* of these open-world survival games when it's actually done.

It's no different than CS or TF2 in that respect.
You play to get better and because you like the competition.

I played a shitload of CS and TF2 both, not to get better or for competition but because it was fun to me. Honestly most times I go back to Overwatch I end up disappointed after playing, from being stuck in terrible maps I hate playing (hi, Illios!) to ending up on bad team after bad team. The custom game browser is no excuse for not being able to simply tell quickplay which maps or modes I want to be dropped into.

Went to get my son some books for his birthday. The fantasy sets I wanted were $23 for the paperbacks but $32 for the Kindle versions. And we wonder why people pirate.

All these people saying digital goods would be cheaper because distributors no longer had to deal with warehousing and shipping and physical store fronts had it wrong. A physical good is using money by merely existing; it has to be stocked, it has to be displayed, and it has to be shipped. It's in nobody's interest having it sit on a shelf or in a box indefinitely... so they are priced to move. That little 800KB ebook sitting on an Amazon server, meanwhile, has almost no footprint, takes virtually no bandwidth to transmit, and never has to be rotated for newer stock.

There's no incentive whatsoever for digital goods to ever reduce prices because they essentially cost no money to keep around.

Not saying a hardware native HDR isn't ostensibly amazing, but does anyone recall HL2 Lost Coast? That was like 12y ago.

It's not the same. HDR in Source Engine was a lighting trick to make light sources interact with textures more naturally. HDR on TVs is just an industry buzzword for a higher standard of contrast ratio and color accuracy. Problem is, both the video display AND content have to be calibrated for it, so it's not a matter of just flipping a switch and woosh you've got HDR.

And this isn't really progress as I see it. LCD tech always was simply awful, between backlight bleeding, horrible contrast ratios, and wildly inaccurate colors. Returning to the contrast ratio capable on my 15" CRT back in 2000 isn't forward progress. Playing dark games or watching dark movies has been a decade-plus-long exercise in frustration thanks to shitty tech.

Sounds like the problem EVERY ONE OF THESE "creative" games suffers from, outside of Terraria. Building a big sandbox is all fine and dandy, but mixing it with meaningful and entertaining focused gameplay is apparently just outside of anyone's abilities.

kxmode has been here for 14 years. Only in the past 6 months has he become extremely prominent, in part by constantly arguing (albeit good-naturedly), with almost anything anyone posts. In the past 3 months, he's been posting almost exclusively about the Bible, while swearing he wouldn't post about the Bible.

What gives?

His is a religion of prostelyzation, which is the absolute worst kind. He thinks he's doing good by his deity trying to convert The Internet to his nonsensical view, probably so he can get more virgins after death. That's Christianity, right?

Yeah definitely a fun movie, caught Logan this morning and John Wick last week. It's like summer blockbuster season for people tired of traditional (and tame) summer blockbusters right now...
