Lucasarts has been slipping in their quality department haven't they? Although Armed and Dangerous looks good, this game was gonna suck and we all know it. I loved Full Throttle, but I could tell they were screwing this one up, they just really really better not screw up Sam 'n Max! Viva La Freelance Police!

Yes I have apparently not kept up on the D3 technology, which I am surprised that I haven't because it sounds pretty amazing. I was aware of the normal maps they use; I just didn't know how they created them. And of course when I think about it now, they wouldn't need to use cinematic cut scenes with in-game models looking so nice and having a pretty high poly count themselves now a days anyways, duh. So if anyone is still reading this, I'm still wondering (being a computer animator) how they technically get to the end result lower poly in-game models exactly? What, they just use poly reduce? Heh.

Score! Haha, but anyway, about the models....how do they get the low poly versions then? I would like to think they don't actually create new low poly models based on the high res ones from scratch! That makes sense about them being so high res, to get the lighting and bump mapping information, that's good stuff! So they won't actually use those million polygon models for cinematics or anything? That's pretty hard core just to use them for lighting and bump!

Hmmm, first of all I agree with #6 mostly, the models were amazing, except one which was poorly designed in a way that it would be top heavy and impossible to walk without falling over. But secondly: "Of coarse, the models were 3d Studio max renders..." I'm pretty sure they didn't use 3DSM my friend, I believe they are using Maya. And also I think the models are for cinematics not real-time, although they may have low poly proxies left over used to create the high res versions.
